The initial 3 sightings at school, one later redacted by a 3rd party make me curious.

Eta: one by her teacher

So the teacher never recanted?

I know I'm a couple of thread behind because I've been at work all day, so would someone be so kind as to tell me whether or not its been confirmed that this body that was found was Jessica's? TIA

It has not been confirmed.

No, it hasn't.

The body found was not intact, so LE is saying they hope to release an identity Friday afternoon (which is consistent with the time needed to run a DNA test).

The best thing to do is go to the scanner thread and read the rewind. You will understand what the mix up is about. Although I'm not sure there ever was a mix-up.

OK thank you. I finally found it.

"Officials believe the girl -- who is described as blonde, blue-eyed, 4 feet 10 inches tall and 80 pounds -- may have changed clothes.

"We are asking people to not focus on the clothes," Materasso said. "Really focus on Jessica, focus on her facial features. If you see a flier, take a good look at it."

"Police say it’s likely her clothes may have changed since she disappeared."

J met him at the park every morning and then they walked to school together from there. That morning, probably because the weather was nasty, the father drove the boy to the park to meet her, they waited together, when she didn't arrive he then drove the boy the rest of the way to school. Walking home from school she walked with a larger group of kids. She didn't go to his house to meet him. I don't believe it was ever said in MSM that J might have changed clothes on the way to school, I think that was someone's 'theory' or 'speculation idea'. Anyway, J was abducted within that 3 blocks from leaving home to the park.. . since she never arrived at the park, at least while her friend was there.
HTH

Thanks a lot. Is this verified fact of the way things happened, or your impression? I ask because the Mom specifically said that Jessica called to ask her friend if he was WALKING (which doesn't translate to me that his dad was DRIVING him to the park). If Dad was driving, then I'd have thought he would have told Jessica he could pick her up with his son at the park and drive her on to school. I haven't read anything that said the Dad was driving his son to the park to meet Jessica, so can you please tell me where you found this? Thank you.

"Investigators believe someone in the community knows the kidnapper, and they assume the suspect is male.

“It could be your boss, it could be your friend and ultimately it could be your family member,” says FBI media coordinator Dave Joly. “So we’re asking people to bring this information to law enforcement, and let us (bring) that to a close.”

The FBI profiler may be speaking directly to the conflict about the friend she did or didn't walk with, when they say that it's probably someone known in the community, nearby, a friend, boss, husband, etc. -it could be a father, too and to look for changes in him. They may know who they're looking for changes in and just want to make sure the people close to them/him are also noticing the changes.

When she had been gone for 3 days with no sign of her, LE said the abductor could have changed her clothes or hair to change her appearance. People who steal children to keep them do that. Changing clothes on the way to school is a 'rumor' or 'speculation' and not credited by LE. :banghead:

and in the scanner thread there is mention of items and clothes found in various places in her 'hood the day she went missing that may or may not belong to J.

"Officials believe the girl -- who is described as blonde, blue-eyed, 4 feet 10 inches tall and 80 pounds -- may have changed clothes.

Does anyone know if the 911 call has been released?

  • #393
And that just further confuses me. (Mom call to verify that they are going to walk together and then they don't but son says they did? But it's the day before?)

I think the son would remember which day it was. It was the first day it snowed. That's why Jessica called him to see if he was still walking.

A woman asked me to complete a survey about city parks and said she would watch my child.

[Respectfully snipped for focus]

I see you've had a number of responses already and reported this to authorities, but the part I bolded is what really set off my hinky meter: no legitimate surveyer would make such an offer, for the simple financial reason that his/her employer would have huge liability issues should some harm befall the child under the surveyer's watch.

And what municipality these days has the money to spend for the astronomical liability insurance that would be needed in case some harm befell the child while being watched by the employee?

Particularly for the sake of a survey that could easily be publicized with flyers in the parks that directed interested participants to a survey website, in a mid- to upper-class place like Westminster where most of the populace could reasonably be assumed to have a computer and internet access?

All rhetorical questions, not directed at you.

But no matter how I slice it, I cannot see that this encounter could have been innocent.

I continue to believe these comments were because they found her clothes and glasses in the backpack as that is the only way that they could have known that she did not have them on any longer. Just speculation, but an explanation for the comments

Just a reminder that we have a Timeline/Media/Map thread for Jessica right here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187312"]CO Jessica Ridgeway Amber Alert *no discussion*: Timeline and Media thread - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

It has not been updated since yesterday and I know there have been lots of new developments today. Also, is anyone working on a map that shows all the pertinent locations - Jessica's house, the park, the school, the backpack, the open space, the lake, etc.?

I think I remember Sarx asking for coordinates, but not sure what that was all about.

very true. maybe she just wasn't thinking. but, I don't see why she needed to mention it at all. parents are constantly doing other things while watching their own children. it was weird, for sure. thought I was just paranoid. thanks for the validation!

I would offer to keep an eye on someone's kid in a work context without ever considering the liability issues you bring up above, just cause that is how I roll. I am the one who turns on the shower for all the kids at the swim lessons and the one who helps kids reach the water fountain at the store. I never think twice about any of these things.

Good point.

Is it possible that someone could have driven their own child to school...and then returned to pick up Jessica in their car because they knew she would be walking to a certain area to meet a friend that was already at school? Mmmm....

I've wondered the same thing esp if she spoke to the parent and not the child that morning on the telephone to make walking arrangements.
