Here is another missing 12 year old girl from Greeley Co. from 1984.

Jonelle Matthews

The girl's disappearance exploded into one of the biggest mysteries in Greeley history. Hundreds of volunteers showed up to search all around Greeley for her body or any evidence. At a time when child abductions seemed prevalent, the story of Jonelle Matthews made headlines around the country.

Her parents appeared on national TV talk shows and programs about missing children. President Reagan mentioned Jonelle in one of his national addresses.

IMO, this is a HUGE issue. It says a lot about her lifestyle (i.e. who she hangs out with), it says a lot about her home dynamics (i.e. mom gives her lots of freedom), it says a lot about the friends of her brother (i.e. they prey on young girls), it says a lot about her state of mind (i.e. she thinks she is older than she is)

To me it says she misses a dad in her life and may turn to an older guy for support, attention, and love. MOO

Just watched the moms interview and she seemed ok. Of course her daughter is missing and im sure she is beside herself right now but she didn't look that upset so maybe she knows something we don't know and that gives me hope. I would liked to ask the mother who was in her house the day she left. What was the day like there. Was she on her computer? Did she get any phone calls the night before or that morning. Did any of her brothers friends ever take her anywhere? Any strange or annoying neighbors?

Praying she is found safe.

Perhaps I need to revisit my position on this issue, since I seem to be in a minority here. I had boyfriends that old when I was 12. Yet, I am from a very respectable family with a very involved stay-at-home mom, was always an A student and never got into any trouble. I was just precocious.

I think they need to look at the boyfriend up, down and sideways, turn him over and shake him up and then look at him again. But, I think they need to do that with all aspects of her life.

If LE have cleared her boyfriend, I'm not sure what the judgmental preaching will do at this point. Sorry, but let's find Kayleah and the perp. Half the calls tonight into NG show were useless - calls about why and how mom could do this and that regarding her daughter's life. This will not find the perp. What a useless waste of phones calls MOO mho

Here is what scares me about a 17 year old BF, they have drivers licenses and they have cars and people they are buddies with have cars.

That's true Dr. Fess but so do most kids 16 and over. Hopefully they have ruled out the BF, searched his car, and his cell phones for possible abduction plots. If not, they have that to do yet. You could say the same thing about her brother and his friends. MOO

Well, to some extent boyfriends, etc and who she goes around with, could be very relevant to what has happened and all her friends need to be interviewed...
not to mention that we have seen a lot of teen on teen violence lately...so nothing should be overlooked...i don't think anyone here was being judgemental...the comment about 17-yr olds having cars can be very important...

When using the word judgmental - I was referring to the NG show and the people who called in - did you hear them?

As far as 17yo with cars - she has an older brother and his friends must have cars. I'm not saying it's unimportant, but hopefully LE have checked boyfriend and brothers out. moo

Right, I would really look at the bf's friends and the brother's friends that have cars because she would probably accept a ride from them if they saw her walking.

also those mood updates were coming in from a mobile, so someone has internet on their cell phone. were the records pulled for that?

Been gone, catching up. Just wanted to post for people coming in that the FBI would not confirm there was even a birthday party.

Also good point about reporting the creepy car video to LE. Someone should do that.

Back to reading and catching up....

ITA. Shes so vulnerable at that age.

True - LE also should check out anyone who would know Kayleah was leaving at that particular time. I have no idea who would know that - hopefully LE does.

I agree... so young.. and with such free reigns as a 12 year old child (not even in the 'official teens') to be wandering around and going to places like walmart and the library on her own.

She was used to going on her own to a lot of places on foot YET DOGS HAVE NOT TRACKED A THING.

I still think (imhoo) ground zero is her apartment area (to include the parking lot or other apartments there). I am having a SERIOUS SANDRA CANTU MOMENT with her case (re: Sandra never left her trailer park)

eta: I tend to think she didn't make it far out of her door moo moo moo

I've wondered a lot about how it is the dogs couldn't get a track. This might be why. There might be too many scents from all of her comings and goings as well as so many others.
