Many divorces are expensive and lengthy, but surely paying the divorce attorney is cheaper than ending up paying criminal attorney's fees.

Taxpayers are responsible for all of PF’s legal costs including experts.

My point was if they thought it through, they would know they were going to serve a life sentence for what they did. In most cases, you just can’t disappear a body after being the last one to see them. Someone is going to be taking a close look at you. And with all the latest technology, I have to think they are as dumb as rocks.
BBM
This is where I disagree with you. Imo they do think they have thought it through. I don't believe at any point they know they are going to serve a life sentence for what they did. Imo they absolutely think they can outsmart LE.

Edited for clarification.

I thought maybe he met her there for child exchange. I’ve heard he picked her up, K dropped her off. Idk how he got her, do you? Tia

But, if he met her at the store, could he have let someone else in her condo, or given them a key, maybe they restrained her until P returned (when neighbor saw his truck). Idk. MOO. Hypothetical.
I think the final story was that he went to the house to pick her up. Some are speculating that he ( or someone) hid in the house and may have surprised her, but I don't know why he wouldn't just go straight to the house, it's not like she wouldn't have let him in. And if he had help, and there were two of them, it would not have been hard to overpower her.
The only reason I can think of for surprising her in the house is if was too much of a coward to let her know who was attacking her, and he didn't want her to know who he was. Who knows what he was thinking!
I just don't see the point of following her into the store just to see when she was going home or to hide in her house and restrain her or surprise her. It seems unnecessary and too risky. Imo

PF has at least one older brother, sister, and sister in law -- all with good jobs and/or careers. PF appears to be the only sibling living with/off his Mum. MOO

Average farrier services:

Basic Shoeing Cost
According to the latest Farrier Business Practices survey conducted by American Farriers Journal, the average nationwide price for trimming four hooves and applying four keg shoes is $120.19. The average charge for trimming and resetting four keg shoes is $113.36. Trim-only prices average $42.06.

Pricing For Success | American Farriers Journal

I’d like a local to share what they pay & is farrier service readily available, in P’s surrounding area. I pay $100 per horse, in a dif state.

I’ve been lurking on here after the Watts case and now this one... I live about an hour away from where PF/ KB were, but think prices are about the same. I pay $60 for a barefoot trim on each of my horses. That takes a farrier about 20 min and I haven’t seen prices cheaper than $50. For shoes, it would be $80-$120 per horse depending on the farrier, shoes, and if they were only going on fronts or all fours.

Like you - I auto book, but on an 8 week schedule.

Who knows how booked up PF was though or how much of his livelihood actually came from farrier work... I tried searching his posts on local horse / livestock FB groups, and only found a couple where he was selling horses a couple years ago, and looking for dairy calves last year. No advertising of farrier services. Maybe just the groups I was looking in, though.

Here you go @Trudie.

I didn’t know for certain if they agreed to meet at the Store? Does anyone really know? I thought perhaps she went for baby food to send with him. He would then know she was away from home & cd have let someone in. Then went to the store to pick up the child, driving it to his mom, then back to K’s. Once my battery is charged, I’ll compute the time, her at Safeway, his drive to the ranch, back to her house & see if it conincides with the neighbors sighting. Just for my own curiosity.

Thank you both! Much appreciated.

Peach3s, I wanted to establish his income potential for people unfamiliar with horses. Excellent info. He had unlimited income potential. Like any farrier, he prob went like crazy when he needed money. Then, eased off for a few weeks. That makes it hard to establish a clientele. I still believe tho, he had his regulars. None of us want to switch around, if we like our farrier. He could have actually been earning money w/o mom F or K knowing. All he had to do is say he had to run an errand or something, he could make a few hundred fast. MOO

Could multiple solicitation charges mean he made several separate contacts or payments to one person?
Could the person(s) being protected be someone that a solicitee confided in?

It gets tricky.

For example if I had a situation like this, and John had made three separate installments of payments for the one agreed upon solitication, I would charge it as one ongoing crime.

If he approached three different people, or one person three times because they backed out the first two times, etc. then yes, I would likely charge three.

Yes to your second question.

IIRC it was stated in the presser that the defense could also be present when it is tested.
I believe that is typical. One would think anyway.. yikes

Yup, its likely LE know a lot more about who was involved, why, where etc, but they cannot make it public at this time.

As long as justice is well-served, I think its prudent for LE to keep their cards close until trial.

i got your point. To me, that isn’t thinking it through. That’s not thinking at all. Pretty dumb, on anyone’s part. JMO though.:)

Thank you.. I guess my question was more law +/- at what point does the local LE require that the CBI/FBI get called. Wondered if it was because cross state lines were involved or just the the state officials requested their assistance ? People go missing everyday, so there must be a point when local LE says, Ok, Let's call in the FBI.

I thought I had heard they got involved because there are so few murders in the area that they did not have the same level of expertise. I think it was stated in the press conference when they arrested PF. They got into some level of depth about it

If the defense can’t test a piece of evidence, can it still be used against them? Are they allowed to test every bit of evidence in every case? Or just on appeal? Seems like trials would never end...

  • #235
I think he planned the murder and picked up the baby right before it happened. I’m sure they are looking for forensic evidence to tie the hitman to the scene. DNA, hair, fingerprints.

Do hitmen clean up after they commit murder, and dispose of the body?
If PF is capable of cleaning up, disposing the body, he would also be able to commit the murder, I would think.
His dump items probably have evidence of this.
MOO.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was still collecting an allowance from his mommy.

I definitely don’t get the impression he was rolling in money, whatever his main source of income was.
I don’t believe he had any ambition either. Only thing on his mind was probably inheriting the ranch at some point. I know he has siblings but he has proven he doesn’t think things through real well. Selfish, not smart.

I'm surprised if they know there was a solicitation for murder and others involved in her killing, why hasn't anyone else been arrested? Could it be because they can't locate the person?

Mom24, it could be that others involved aren't being charged b/c they've offered to turn state's evidence if the DA gives them immunity, i.e., there may have been a deal struck. That would explain why the DA claimed the physical safety of potential witnesses would be jeopardized if the probable cause affidavit was unsealed.

I believe the "person solicited" and possibly " whoever had the phone" coming forward is what broke this case open....MOO
Possibly, but I'm thinking that IF there happened to be a new love interest in Twin Falls, Idaho, that the case started to break there, first. Not saying this individual would have anything to do with the actual murder, yet was able to fill in some blanks for LE to allow the investigation to take flight. No pun intended. It just bothers me so very much that SOMEONE KNEW that he wanted her dead and they did NOTHING to prevent it. Perhaps sealing the warrant is to protect this individual because the other guys are still out there, somewhere. At this point, we don't know if PF acted entirely alone. Further arrests may be possible. Maybe they are still trying to track someone down they consider a serious threat. PF is not a threat, unless, some unscrupulous individual passes notes from him to someone else, like what happened in the Dellen Millard case where LE discovered several letters he wrote to his little "helper" when they executed a search warrant at her parents home. To this day, they do not know WHO did that, his attorney or his mother. My guess is his mother, the enabler.

Exactly. What is the time frame that is "typical" to process DNA on collected evidence? I would imagine it would be PDQ...
