Mollie’s parents said they felt she was alive for the majority of the investigation too :(

I call it magical thinking. You see it from family in most missing persons cases. Their minds just will not allow them to go to a dark place. I can't say I blame them.

Shannan Watts family are the few that immediately accepted the facts.

Curious as to what prompted LE to bring excavating equipment. Perhaps during the first search, an area of disturbed earth was noticed? Or in searching a property of that size (ground wise) is it standard to do so?
A show of force!

Yes I’m finding it very disconcerting in the very LEAST that HER family are not allowed to see the baby? Who does that? What caused that type of rift? What has it fueled?
Ask the lawyer! He seems to be holding all the cards!

If the search ended sooner than expected what could that mean? They found something and it’s over? Or they searched and came up empty handed? To me it says they found something. Why else would they quit early? Moo

I'm so curious too. If they happened to find her, would that be info they released right away? And... Why stop searching halfway through if not?

there's express lanes through parts of i-25 (what you'd take through denver)
be pretty dumb to take them if he did go through denver though.
Like most people, my observations come from my experiences - no offense is ever intended.
IMO, his close relationship with his mother might lead him to believe that KB has more rights to their child than he did - it’s not intellectual thinking, it’s emotional thinking - which could have made him feel very threatened that she would move even an hour away.
We live in Texas, my husband can get all over this state on backroads - easily avoiding cameras. There are rural county maps. When we were in Idaho, Colorado vacationing - he did the same thing - he hates traffic.
She may never be found, snow will most likely hide her at least until Spring. Not to mention, there’s a million plus acres of forest around that town - IF he did it- to hide a body. It’s going to be like finding a needle in a haystack, literally.

Not saying this happened here, but it's a typical story in cases where a man harmed a woman he is involved with. He wants to make himself look like the injured party. He wants to be seen as an innocent man who had a woman dump him and leave him so that he will be the one given sympathy. Just like Chris Watts tried to claim his wife had left him. CW tried to make it seem like she was the one pushing for a divorce but their text messages told a different story. His wife was trying to save their marriage in that case while he was having an affair. In this case here we have signs that Kelsey wanted to marry PF but he wasn't willing to commit. Her mom saying the price of cattle was a factor in why they couldn't buy a place together is a big clue of this being the case. Kelsey buying her own 2 bedroom townhome in May but PF still not living there is another clue. If he loved her he would have married her. The price of cattle was an excuse. MOO.

I'm wondering about PF's situation and it's flexibility. I don't blame him if he wanted to stay on the farm where his animals were. Farming isn't a 9-5 job, unless you're an employee and have set hours. We don't know if he rented/leased other acreage/land. He's a farrier also, and usually, not always, that means making farm calls wherever the animals are. If he competes in rodeo events that means more travel. We don't know and can't sleuth his family, but it's been discussed here previously that he lives with his mother. We don't know how much she helps with child care. All this has been discussed in the previous threads, IIRC.

All this to say I can understand if KB possibly was reluctant to live on the farm/get married to someone in his situation. All IMO.

Eta: spelling counts!

That's an interesting thought. Or, they've found something. Isn't their property 32 acres ? It's not a huge amount if land but big enough that it wouldn't make sense to randomly dig holes in without a reason.

The excavator doesn't seem like great news, though.
Oh, I don't think they would randomly dig holes without a reason. We don't even know if they actually used the excavator. There were some reports that said a neighbor saw it on the property, but I'm not sure if it was actually used. But if it was, they had a reason.
They had enough information for a warrant to search the property but I also think they intended to put some pressure on PF. Everything they have done seems to be to have some control in the investigation. They used the media to get the public interested in the case, and made it very clear that they wanted to talk to him but he is not being compliant. This is all being done for a good reason. Imo

I don't think it's obvious he adores his daughter. I feel like he's been kind of using her as a human shield. Maybe that is unfair, but did she really need to go with him to his criminal defense attorney's office? It just feels like he is carrying her around so he either looks like an adoring father or so that reporters will look like really terrible people if they get too aggressive or fire accusatory questions while he is carrying his innocent young daughter.

Devil’s advocate...if he’s truly innocent and KB is missing/thought to be dead, he might be super protective of the baby and not wanting her out of his sight. I know that’s how I would be.

IP address and "ping" in the context of the internet is an entirely different thing than a phone ping. Phone location isn't determined by where an IP address (technically called a Host) is located.

They haven’t said what kind of ping. If his phone had no service and he was connected through WiFi, how does that work?

If hr mother waited X many days prior to calling the boyfrind
The only reason I can think of is what I said in the above post. Her family was very religious. Her mom seemed to want people to know that about her. Maybe they did not approve of PF because they thought he was putting off the marriage. Her mom stressed that they were getting married but made excuses for the delay. Apparently her daughter gave her reasons for why they put it off. Reasons that didn't really make sense. Maybe they weren't involved with the child's life. We don't even know if they spent time with PF.
Maybe they did not approve of him and he was resentful. Maybe he considers them an interference. That is the only reason I can think of for his dislike of them. He may see her family as a threat. He likely fears that they will try to get custody of the child. Imo

I think it could work as a story the other way around too. If she broke up with him, he could say she lost interest in both the baby and him, decided she didn't want that kind of life after all, and gave him the baby and left to start fresh. Imo

Yes, this makes sense. I just automatically think of "if I can't have her, no one can."

I agree. I should have said ... IT APPEARS he adores his daughter, the way he carries her with him everywhere. Things are not always what they seem to be...
I also agree that he “appears” to be using her as a shield, and I also think he carries her like a trophy he won and that he is trying to justify his “possible” violent actions in some egotistical, arrogant way but I’m trying to withhold my harsher judgments until we know more.

We would know by now if they had found her. There was an article posted last night from a local news source that said LE is preparing to sit down with him for an interview. If that's true, maybe this is the reason they ended the search early. Right now, speaking to him is what they need to do most. Imo

Hypothetically, maybe he didn’t want to look like he broke her heart on Thanksgiving...and thus be cast as the villain.
True.

This definitely t makes sense. :(

Maybe that's what he is thinking concerning the baby. Maybe he feared losing the child more than anything else. Imo

I also think that she was the reluctant one, but for a different reason. I think she came from a background in which the women are strong and capable and don't necessarily need to rely on a man. Her mother has been in front of the cameras far more than her father. Kelsey, herself moved to a new state where she may have not known anyone, and she chose a career path, historically dominated by men. On the contrary, the father of her child lived at home with family. I think Kelsey was anything but, run of the mill-- and I challenge whether a traditional relationship is what she was looking for. I think if she wanted to get married, she would be married. And I don't think he was capable of handling her independence.
I have thought this from the start, considering the female pilots I know, all are fiercely independent. Imo

Hm so finished earlier than the length of time they were allowed...

I don't know what to think about this, doesn't sound like they found anything that will lead them to Kelsey. Seems they would have taken all the time they were given looking. What do you all think? Found something and are testing it or didn't find anything?

He may feel that way if he's not innocent too.
