Yup-you are right-I was more expressing a backdoor frustration with the situation there. I suppose I was also wishful thinking that the mentality you described towards offenders would carry over to that place....

Yea, he was mainly talking about his little town he lives in. But yes it is a very sad thing that is and has happened in Jaurez. The police just don't care about those women. The women know the risk but they are so desperate for the factory jobs they take the risk of their lives.

This one, Rowan Ford and Chester Stiles changed my insulated 30000 foot view...I want to hear momentum on this case. I am going to hit up the reporter I contacted a while ago about it and see if he has heard anything more about the little one's mother being picked up and charged.

This case changed my life. I have been unable to locate any charges being filed against Angel or mom for the murder of this pretty little girl-this child was exterminated and no one seems to care. People seem to have moved on. I cannot....

Here is a PDF that gives more insight into the intitial charges against Angel and the social services response. Social Services (DDHS) was found to have violated policy regarding what constitutes a safety check. Duh.

We live in Mexico on and off. I know if this had fled to Mexico and IF the town he fled to knew of his crimes, he would have been killed and burned in the streets.
Down there where we live, they don't play kissy-face with child molesters. I remember stopping at the border at Loredo and seeing a sign about a wanted child-rapist...it said DEAD OR ALIVE and beside it was a picture of a guy laying dead on a street. It said *FOUND*.

We should do that here! Mothers no longer protect their babies from the men who want to harm them so we as a community need to protect them.
Hell, even LE and DA's are no longer protecting our kids! It makes me sick.

And even if they are LEGAL/citizens of the US, that does not stop people from fleeing the country. Nothing to do with racism. It is just facts. People will run down to Mexico only because they refuse to extridiate people back to the US if they have the death penalty over their heads. That is the facts. Mexico sucks like that but luckily the towns have their own justice.

I like that kind of justice!

Having a sister with small children who has not always made the smartest decisions regarding men. Luckily none that would endanger her children I have to say - if there was suspected abuse of my niece. I would be all over that child and the minute I found out my sis was hanging out with this guy again those kids would be out of that house and in mine so fast they wouldn't have time to put their sneakers on.

This 'mother' obviously had problems and I just wonder what happen to families looking out for each other and protecting the children.

Angel Ray Montoya and Miriam Gallegos are both still being held in the Denver County Jail. Angel's records, however, states that he is in pre-arraignment detention. You mean they haven't even managed to arraign the guy in over a year? I didn't register for notification because they only do phone notification for Colorado and I never answer my phone. If someone wants to register for notification of trial dates, that would be great.

This is one of the cases that changed me-I will read the link in a minute, but I remember how both walked out the door of the jail and Angel disappeared.

I am thrilled that LE apparently located him and I hope, God Forgive Me, both hang in their own way.

The mistrial was caused by Neveah's mom testifying that Montoya was a sex offender, even though they told her not to. I think she did it on purpose. Still protecting that monster. When are we ever going to see him punished for this?!? Article here:

Mom in kidnapping hoax sentenced to 12 years in tot's death

He sentenced a teary-eyed Gallegos to 12 years in prison followed by five years of parole for child abuse resulting in death, a Class 2 felony.

"Common to every living creature, from mudworms to human beings, is the instinct to protect the young," Robbins told Gallegos.
"If you wanted to play house with Mr. Montoya, fine. That's your business. But you had no business bringing Neveah into that situation."

Amico painted Montoya as a manipulator bent on covering his tracks. An hour after Neveah died, he called Gallegos at work and asked her to come home.

Montoya had the couple's song, "Always and Forever," playing when Gallegos arrived to find her daughter dead, Amico said.

"He said, 'They're going to blame both of us. . . . If you love me, you'll think of me too,' " Amico said. "Quite sadly, quite pathetically, that was all it took."

But it was Gallegos' actions on the witness stand that caused the mistrial in the original murder trial.
While Gallegos was testifying about what happened shortly after she discovered her daughter was dead, she referred to Montoya as a sex offender.

While Montoya was a registered sex offender, the defense had won the argument during a previous hearing to have that information omitted from the trial.

Montoya will stand trial on June 30, 2012, for first-degree murder of a child by a person in a position of trust.
