Ugh. According to one of the mother's blogs Olivia was "diagnosed" with;

- A vascular malformation of the brain
- A tumor on the paratiod (sic) gland (correct spelling parotid)
- Autism
- External hydrocephalus
- Developmental delay
- L-Carnatine (sic) Deficiency (correct spelling carnitine)
- Seizure Disorder
- Celiacs disease
- Focal cortico (sic) dysplasia (correct spelling corticol)
- Intestinal dismotility (sic) (correct spelling dysmotility)
- Loop iliostomy (sic) (correct spelling ileostomy)
- Intestinal prolapse

At the end of the post she gives information on donating $$ to help with the hospital bills.

Disgusting.

Just that list alone should have been a clue. One child supposedly having so many diseases of all kinds? What are the odds? Child that in an early photos looks completely normal, including the head which was supposedly misshapen. Of course later on the child did start looking sickly, no wonder after so many surgeries were done on her. Sickening.

"Turner allegedly began perpetuating the fatal sham in 2011, when she started posting about her daughters’ medical woes on her personal blog. Olivia, she wrote, had a misshapen head and a vascular malformation in her brain, causing her to have seizures, KUSA reported. Her other daughter had “osteomyelitis,” a bone infection, Turner wrote. She claimed the family moved to Colorado from Texas to seek better medical treatment, leaving her husband behind."

Ethically I am not a believer in the death penalty but I really want to see this woman gone from the earth.

I wouldn't cry either. There are lots of pictures of little Olivia, and she was a very pretty child. If this woman wanted attention, why couldn't she do something less harmful, like putting her in beauty pageants?

It’s beyond me. It’s so evil. So sick.

Maybe she wants it to be about her and what a good, long-suffering mother she is. I mean she starved her kid to death for sympathy.

I’m disgusted.

@jjenny i just went and looked and you’re right. Very beautiful little kid.

Mom isn’t.

I wonder if she resented Olivia for that.

That's what i was thinking. The child was so beautiful, I bet people were stopping her telling her what a pretty little girl she had. Whereas she herself isn't particularly attractive, at least as far as I am concerned. Was she resentful of the child for that? The child was basically mutilated with all these surgeries.

I'd also like to know more about those hospital bills. Technically Munchausen by Proxy (also known as Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another or FDIA) is considered a mental illness but we've seen a few cases where the mother has also solicited money from the public. Is that yet another symptom or is it a secondary disorder? Or is it just an act of greed tacked onto the medical abuse?

IOW I'd like to know the primary driving motivation - attention or money? IMO knowing the difference could change how the mother is charged and how her defense will proceed. Personally I'd like to see a medical abuse charge and a fraud charge. For example, was Olivia and her sister covered by Medicaid?

Aw heck, what I really want is to see is this woman taken out of society for a very, very long time. Bah.

They try to say that it’s not Munchauasen’s if they do it for profit. But these people are missing their souls. So I think they can both want the attention and try to get money out of it. We have seen overlap.

One of our verified psych pros said something in the Chris Watts thread that was actually kind of revolutionary to me in that it really adjusted my thinking. She said that diagnostic mental illness categories were created for insurance billing purposes and that most people don’t fit neatly into any one.

Oh also, she faces a murder charge and 12 child abuse and fraud charges. So you got your wish.

Yes, Munchhausen by proxy is supposed to be for attention, while Malingering by proxy is supposed to be for money, but now days there seems to be a lot of overlap. In Gypsy's Blanchard case, mother Dee Dee seems to have done it both for attention and money. In Olivia's case it seems to be mostly for attention, as she didn't collect that huge a sum for personal use. I think the medicaid fraud charges stem from a fact that medicaid paid a lot for surgeries that were not needed, but mother didn't collect the money, they went for medical care. Make a wish foundation spend money on a party, but again mother didn't collect that money personally. In Gypsy's case it's harder to say what was the primary motivation, because Gypsy's mother even got a free house out of making people to believe Gypsy was sick.

But all 3 of her girls were gorgeous. The oldest is very pretty and unique looking IMO. Poor Olivia must have been singled out for some reason. I wonder if her marriage started to suffer after Olivia was born and she thought having a sick baby would keep him around? Although it seems like she tried to make the middle daughter her victim initially and then gave up on that until after Olivia died when she started that again. It would be interesting to see the oldest girls medical records from when she was young to see if there were any mysterious ailments. Maybe she tried a few things with the older girls but perfected fooling Doctors with Olivia.

I definitely think Olivia's Mom was out for money and attention. If you read her blog it very frequently mentions expenses and how people can donate money to her for the girls care.

I really doubt she thought a sick child would keep hubby around, because she moved to Colorado supposedly to get better medical care, while hubby stayed back in TX. The idea of moving to get better medical care is kind of ridiculous, considering big cities in TX have numerous hospitals for children. My thoughts that maybe when hubby was around, she couldn't make all the claims she reportedly made about Olivia being sick and having symptoms, such as being in pain because a child couldn't use the bathroom, or having seizures, or the older girl having cancer, because hubby would know it wasn't true.

Not sure but found an old one. PrayfortheGantgirls: August 2011

How much research did Mommy do to write up all of that ~stuff~ about those girls? We have all seen that people who do have MBP are very well informed on all types of diseases, physical deformities and deficits, fevers, spasms, seizures, etc., etc., etc. I would love to see her medical library which would be a great guide for her to get online and really go to it.
And then there's the money... Not gonna get into that...
This one's the worst I've ever seen.
Life in prison doesn't even touch what she deserves, IMO.

Thanks @duckduck, for reviving it for us at WS.
Yes, I remember this thread. Very difficult to follow due to it being totally cruel -- we've seen it before. MBP, and IMO this is absolutely what we've got here, is one of the cruelest things that can be done to a helpless little individual.
First degree murder won't really touch the evil involved, but that's what, IMO, she did.
It is a sickness, and it's rare, thank goodness, but the little victim can do nothing but be an innocent target of the madness.
