Aurora, Denver authorities have a message for call threatening them
Sally Mamdoo & Jennifer Kovaleski, 7NEWSDenver report

[...]

"Obviously someone went to a lot of trouble to make that call and to disguise their voice and obviously keep their information anonymous."

I'm fairly good at speaking ebonics. But their statement just reads like plain gibberish if you ask me. Lol.

Heheh... they do that to make it 'chilling.' It gets old, if you know what I mean? Always some new freak who picks it up, the MO, I suppose.

'Well, has the I-25 shattered car windows and NOCO shootings ceased again'? Or are they just not being reported?

Good question Foxfire. I doubt it has stopped. At this point I am seriously considering the idea that some kind of call to action went out. Much like we have seen with the BLM followers. ( NOT saying BLM has anything to do with this)

I don't think that they have ever stopped for more than a couple of weeks at a time since they started early in the year. After a very active period in the late spring, the last report of a classic, stealthy, side or back window NOCO window shattering came thru on 6/16/15. We heard rumors of another on 7/22/15, and then silence for another month. Had they stopped? Were they continuing but not coming to light, because LE was following the NOCO Task Force's declared policy of not passing on news of the case? There was an 8/20/15 report of a classic I-25 shattering (picked up by the Colorodoan from a scanner feed) and then another two in quick succession. We soon also learned from the Larimer CSO that it had "received reports of shattered windows on I-25 throughout the summer." So we know that some minority of incidents were coming thru despite Task Force policy, but not nearly all.

Are we enjoying a haitus, for now, in the NOCO shatterings? The answer depends partly on how you group the incidents and what qualifies as a NOCO shattering. The last classic I-25 shattering for which we have a report was on 8/23/15 - 20 days ago. After that we have have a number of incidents, but none that quite fit the classic mold for one reason or another. In one, a shooter brazenly shot a BB gun from a pickup in plain view of his victim, into her windshield, on Hwy 52 on 8/27/15. The next, on 8/31/15, was again - and again unusually - a windshield shot and it was a 50 mile drive west of I-25. The last was in Morrison, well south of Denver, on 8/31/15, the latest of an unreported series of four that Morrison PD now tells us had started in that area in mid July.

One person with an evolving MO and stalking ground? Two independant shooters? One group fielding different shooters with different approaches over time? I can't say, but he or they have been remarkably persistant over time. Here's a link to the case map, which lists the incidents chronologically on the left of the screen.

The Phoenix cluster is starting to sound pretty serious, with a new report of a fifth attack, this one vs. a policeman.

KTAR Staff, Sep 8, 2015, 8:31 am
Phoenix policeman reports he was ‘shot’ at on Interstate 10

The side window of a Phoenix policeman's car shattered while he was driving his own car on I-10 near 35th Ave. in Phoenix today (Tues. 9/8/15). "The AZ Dept. of Public Safety said it wasn’t sure yet whether there had been a shooting or if something else hit and broke the window." We had noted four seemingly random shootings on the same stretch of highway from 8/29 to 8/31/15.

What a difference in the transparency of the AZ Highway shooting investigation in comparison to the NOCO Shooter investigation; night and day. imo..

<BBM for focus>
http://ktar.com/story/618397/arizona-dps-director-addresses-latest-possible-freeway-shooting/

Arizona DPS investigates 9 freeway shooting incidents in 10 days
DPS said they are looking into 9 incidents connected to the Valley freeway shootings that have happened in the last 10 days.

The officer said he was driving his own car to work around 5:20 a.m. when a side window shattered. The unidentified sergeant said he was near the 35th Avenue exit.

Another incident with another car happened at the same time. The sergeant’s vehicle was going eastbound while the other vehicle was westbound, DPS Director Col. Frank Milstead said.

“They’re within one minute of each other, and both vehicles were hit on the driver side, passenger window by a projectile. I would call that related,” said Milstead.

Milstead expressed continued concern over these shootings on the I-10 in the second conference he has held since the shootings began more than a week ago. There is no set pattern of time of day a shooting has occurred, and Milstead there is a possibility a copycat could be involved.

Milstead said DPS has partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the FBI as well as Phoenix and Tempe Police Departments to further this investigation. He said the investigation and efforts are continuing around the clock around the highways and at their Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center. There is also overt and covert surveillance on the freeways and around areas of the I-10.

Milstead has been very open with the public and said he needs their eyes and ears right now to solve this case and protect drivers on the state’s most traveled freeway.

Just saw this on World News Tonight. Is it possible that the Colorado 'sniper' has escalated and moved or is there yet another shooter?

"DPS investigating 9 possible freeway shootings in Phoenix area"

"Milstead said investigators are unclear about whether all of the incidents involved shootings, and preferred the term “projectiles” rather than “bullets.” And he declined to definitively link all of the incidents, saying some may have been the work of a copycat."

OK, just read above posts that a suspect has been apprehended (Mohammed Whitaker) and forensics link him to the crimes.

Here's the latest I've been able to find on M.P.Whitaker, from a 6/22/15 piece in the Kansas City Star by Tony Rizzo:
Kansas City police investigating two shooting incidents on I-435

"Both [recent window shattering] incidents occurred in the general area where several highway shootings were reported last year. A suspect [Mohammed Whitaker] was arrested in those cases and remains in the Jackson County Jail, awaiting trial."

Despite what seems to be a very strong case against him, there has been no news of a trial date almost 15 months after his arrest.

Seems, they may have a copycat shooter active in KC, MO now, taking up where Whitaker left off... Shotgun pellet huh?
Ironically shotgun shells also come in frangibles..

I think that it was you who first pointed out the first two in the Overland Park cluster back in June. I identified another shooting, which took place on 9/7/15, about 14 miles south of those two, which might belong with that cluster. A father and his son were "seriously injured" by multiple gunshots fired from another vehicle. Both are stable and recovering.

Investigators search for clues after 2 injured in Cass County highway shooting

The June and September shootings show as red stars. The text box belongs to the 6/22/15 incident. The yellow star marks the approximate center of Mohammed Whitaker's area of opperation.

'All the shootings over the past two weeks came in one eight-block stretch. But they weren't all identical: Milstead noted the latest ones "seemed to have a different MO than the ones before."

And he referred to what was fired as "projectiles," adding, "I think we have a number of different weapons involved, but we're still trying to determine that."'

Al Qaeda Agents Got Sniper Training
Oct. 17 - 2002
At least one suspected al Qaeda detainee has told FBI officials that the serial-sniper shootings in the Washington, D.C.-area may be terrorist-related, ABCNEWS has learned.

Sources told ABCNEWS that FBI agents are questioning detainees from the war in Afghanistan being held at the U.S. Navy base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, about possible planned sniper attacks in the United States.

Authorities are also talking with suspected al Qaeda members elsewhere and at least one of them has offered information about sniper training.

Nizar Trabelsi has told investigators that he witnessed al Qaeda training a three-man team of snipers to launch attacks on the United States, sources said.

The snipers, Trabelsi allegedly said, were trained to shoot at targets from between 50 meters and 250 meters, or between 160 feet and 820 feet.

Trabelsi also said that some of the training also involved shooting from the back of pickup trucks, sources said.

Videos of an al Qaeda training camp near Kandahar obtained by ABCNEWS seems to corroborate Trabelsi's alleged sniper training accounts.

We have another incident here...this time it is actually being reported that the window was "shot out"...however, there is no confirmation that the person with "minor injuries" was shot...investigators are on the scene now...

Thank you for catching that! I've added it to the map with a blue marker 'circled' in black. Blue circles are for what I've been calling the Jefferson Co. cluster of 2015, for which we have two other markers identified and another three reports that we haven't mapped for want of locations and dates.

Here's a recent ABC 7 News, DenverNewsChannel.Com peice on that cluster by Lance Hernandez:
Morrison Police investigate another rash of window shatterings on C-470

The four pink circles are from the Jefferson County cluster of 2013. (We lack dates and locations for the other 7 incidents that were reported by LE in connection with that cluster). The brown circles are for a series of three window shatterings and an attack on a cyclist that happened in June. The red circles north of Denver are the classic NOCO window shatterings of 2015.

Multiple shots fired at driver on I-225 early Thursday morning, shattering window and injuring woman

"DENVER - A woman's window was shot out as she drove along Interstate 225 early Thursday morning. Now investigators say multiple shots were fired at the woman's car.

It happened on northbound I-225 before 3:45 a.m., according to the Denver Police Department. The woman stopped between South Yosemite Street and South Dayton Street."

Snip

"Investigators told 7NEWS they believed it was an isolated incident."
(Of course they do lol)

*Interesting that this incident is "multiple shots fired" (different MO?)

*Again, so much gang violence in the city, imo. Hard to tell what's related or not related anymore.

*I'm glad AZ, etc is getting so much coverage, but I'm feeling a little left out here (Hey, what about us here in Colorado?)

*IMO, all the work here is so important bc as I mentioned before, it has documented so much in a chronological manner. If someone looking into the other cases tried to google the CO cases, they would probably be overwhelmed with various articles, and it would likely be hard to know where to start imo. At least here, everything is listed chronologically with sources, images if possible, etc (Forager Rocks).

The three F's (Foxfire, Forager, and FindHG) have all mentioned the possible aspect of some kind of "training". I think this is something to seriously be considered.

*It's crazy how differently the AZ cases are being being approached re: the media, communication with the public, etc.

Another link/story covering this morning's incident:
( More details for Forager, Direction (northbound) and cross street (Yosemite and pulled over near Parker))

1 woman injured after shots fired at car on I-225
http://www.9news.com/story/news/traffic/2015/09/10/i-225-shattered-window/71992950/

"According to Denver Police, they responded to a shots fired call around 3:40 a.m. on northbound Interstate 225 near Yosemite Street."

Snip

"The car was pulled over near Parker Road on northbound I-225.

"Later on Thursday, police confirmed they found evidence that several rounds were fired at the vehicle.

Denver Police said they believe this was an isolated incident. Denver Police spokesperson Christine Downs says the shooting does not appear to be related to a series of apparently roadside shootings that happened in northern Colorado earlier in 2015, nor to a spate of freeway shootings in the Phoenix area this week."

*imo, this sounds more GANGish, with an automatic, probably unrelated, copycat? Gang initiation? If I had to bet on one not being related, I'd guess this one, even though it does remind me some of CR.

*Basically it looks like to me that there are nutjobs everywhere, and likely multiple perps, I have no idea what is related to what. Jmo
