Police say one car was shot at, and several other cars possibly hit by a sniper lurking along I-94 between I-69 and Battle Creek.

Thank you for that! I was especially interested by this reference in the story:

"This is similar to a case in Metro Detroit in October of 2012 when cars were shot at 23 times in Oakland, Livingston, Shiawassee and Ingham counties. Raulie Casteel, 44, and a father of four, was convicted of terrorism and would later plead no contest and mentally ill to other charges. He's doing 18 to 40 years in prison." No one was hurt or injured. I couldn't find an explanation of motive or any indication of colaboration with others or political or religious involvement. Here's a Detroit Free Press article about Casteel.

Also likely off topic, the coincidence about the literary bug, the guy who kept dumping all those books on 287 is odd. Again, likely unrelated, but interesting and noteworthy imo.

hmm... how odd. So (sorry, kinda out there), manifesting anger and hate on highways is a thing in these cases. It seems a way to express grievances and/or capacity.

Whomever is responsible for the two murders, which were off the highway, aimed for vulnerable exposed soft targets. Could they have switched tactics to kill, after their first attempt failed with Cory? She was just about to drive onto I 25, IIRC. Up to now, there has been no indication of a message. Whomever put the symbol there on the road may have wanted to see it there themselves, get some secret thrill perhaps from seeing their handiwork. If for any reason it is related, the whole hiding in plain sight aspect of the symbol resonates with nature of the shatterings and shootings. It's a marking, maybe territorial mindset too. That's something you do for or with groups. Pranks are something you do in groups too.

I like the analysis, and especially the insight about concern for the opinions of a group. But what group with which message? The swastika is the second bit of political graffiti that we've seen along I-25. There was this on I-25 near Fillmore in July of this year:

(O/T, but out of curiosity I'm googling Hilter and Isis. I came across this idea of Isis and books in a few different articles, which I think is really odd considering I was just mentioning the guy who was throwing the thousands of books on 287 near Hwy 52 for several months until he was caught. Again, strange coincidence, likely not related, but really wierd imo.

All the rhetoric doesn't come for free, does it? Tragic that all these freaks find their skewed reasons to kill and maim resonating around them. Perhaps the dialogue and activism should take a less contentious track?

Divide and rule is nothing new. Seems to be a lot of it going on. The Soviets used to incite in the US during the Cold War. They'd push conspiracy theories and other stuff (well documented) ... It may all just be self-inflicted agitation, but who knows?
