2015 shooting task force confirms arrest is in connection with Loveland man's killing

Parker was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 65-year-old Loveland man William Connole on June 3, 2015, as well as attempted first-degree murder in connection with the noninjury shooting at a Loveland motorcyclist the same day.

The shooting task force also confirmed the Coloradoan's reporting that the arrest is not linked to any of the other four 2015 shootings that the group is investigating. Those incidents include the shooting of Milliken woman Cori Romero in April 2015, the shooting death of Windsor man John Jacoby in May 2015, and two building shootings in September 2015.

Loveland man held without bond in 2015 killing - updated

An acquaintance of Parker's reached out to the Reporter-Herald Wednesday to provide context and insight to his character in the past.

Darrin Williams, who attended high school with Parker, said Parker was often aggressive toward other classmates usually operating alone. Parker graduated in 2001 from Thompson Valley High School.

"He definitely had a reputation for always having an angry look on his face," Williams said. "He would pick on a lot of people, at parties especially."

Williams added that over the years, Parker became increasingly distant and edgy, even switching over to another Facebook account. One of Parker's Facebook accounts depicts him as a guitar player with generally normal posts and photos with some vulgarity. That account's timeline ends Feb. 28, 2015, just weeks before the string of shootings.

Parker's other account, born roughly the same time, features violent, somewhat nonsensical posts as well as photos of guns and grim, dark looking pictures and designs. Williams confirmed that both accounts belonged to Parker.

We always knew that any place you lived would be a hot zone!

Thanks for the compliments, but it's really Google and the I-25 Window Shatterer that deserve the credit for how the map looks. I'm a little concerned that the map doesn't do enough to help people understand the story as a whole. I'd love any suggestions for improvement.

The press, I note, doesn't seem to have bought the notion that there is an I-25 Window Shatter at work. There were at least four versions of year-end reviews of the Romero, Jacoby and Connole cases. Only one mentioned the window shatterings, describing them as "unexplained". It seems so clear to me, but I guess that's because we've immersed in it. I don't think most people know what to believe about it.

That may be just as well, though. I'm starting to doubt that the I-25 Shatterer will be caught, however diligent LE is, or however well informed the citizenry is. Long running highway shooting series are rarely solved - only 4 of 19 (21%) were during the period 1/1/13 - 10/31/15. (See the "Cluster Timeline" tab of this spreadsheet for clusters list). I-25 Shatterer or team of shatterers has had a lot of experience with an MO that works. They won't be making many mistakes at this point, and will probably stop of their own accord. I only found one that lasted a year during that 1/13 - 10/15 period. (Same source).

Bumping up per request :)

Did he shoot at cars mostly when it was dark? I can't remember.

I'm wondering if he wanted to shoot them so they crashed and he could witness it and see the person. It was mentioned he had gruesome photos of car accident victims. Maybe he wanted to experience that first hand? (so hard to type bc that is so disturbing)

I think the fact that the new FB was founded at that time, and the posts are now deleted says a lot. If I recall correctly things on FB even if deleted permanently are stored on a backup server for a period of time.

HOWEVER, the way FB used to work is that if you deleted a post from your time line, yeah you can no longer see it, however the data is still stored....it's not actually deleted. There is a way to permanently delete data but I'm not sure I want to post that here for a number of reasons. I'm not sure how bright he is, so I doubt he was aware. I'm sure the FBI is looking into this option though.

Planning a party in the basement. Stay tuned!!

Sorry I didn’t see this when I was here before. I’m really happy they made an arrest. It looked hopeless there for awhile. What’s going on downstairs?

"Parker was booked into the Larimer County Jail and is being held without bail, officials said Thursday at a news conference.

"The arrest is the result of an extensive two year, eight-month investigation that pursued over 5,000 leads," Loveland police Capt. Bob Coleman said."

"The Northern Colorado Shooting Task Force announced Thursday that they believe they have the man responsible for the shooting death of William Connole of Loveland and another shooting (Added by me: Do you know how happy it makes me to post this!?!?), but that there is no evidence to suggest he is responsible for four other random shootings in 2015."

"While investigators believe Parker is responsible for two shootings, Coleman said "there is no evidence to suggest nor is there any information to believe that Mr. Parker is responsible for the April 22, 2015, shooting of Ms. Cory Romero or the May 18, 2015, shooting and murder of Mr. John Jacoby."

"To date, there is also no information or evidence that Mr. Parker is responsible for the Sept. 13, 2015, shooting of an unoccupied school in north Loveland or the shooting of the second floor window at on-duty employees that occurred at Banner Health Hospital in Fort Collins ... that same evening. ... All four of these cases remain open and unsolved.""

"Connole's sister Mary was grateful for the arrest.

"The task force has been so incredible," she said. "I have just believed that they would find this guy. And let's hope that this guy they found is the guy.""

I wonder why the Judge issued the expressed no contact order with the Connole family? I mean, usually that just comes with the charges. And, isn’t the guy being held without bond? Is he so bad he could have threatened the family too? I hope not.
