Still hoping for a positive outcome this many days later. A miracle can happen at any moment.

Amen . Please Lord send this lil guy an angel today

Searchers may have to look much farther downstream. Remember how far Miracle and Tony Crook were found in the water, something like 40 and 90 miles away? Especially if Eagle River is high with strong currents.

yes, I think it's going to be way far downstream.....IMO

UPDATE 7:00am 6/9/20: Sebastian Rodriguez Castro Search

No further leads were reported overnight. Vail Mountain Rescue did not launch kayaks yesterday evening as planned due to the weather. The County did receive a fair amount of rain with snow in some areas overnight.

Yesterday’s search activities included:
5 total boats
17 searchers
72 search hours

The plan today is to deploy a Garfield County Search and Rescue (GCSAR) dog team with Vail Mountain Rescue (VMR) teams in the Eagle and Gypsum area. We will also be utilizing GCSAR's Rescue Cat (motorized boat) running the shore lines from Dotsero down into Glenwood Canyon and back. Additionally, two other VMR staffed boats are planning to launch, along with a drone team.
All search activities today are weather permitting.

Thank you to VMR and GCSAR for their tireless efforts and to everyone else who has participated in efforts to locate Sebastian. The amount of community support has been amazing and overwhelming.

We would be remiss if we did not also thank the Vail Valley Salvation Army for providing meals for volunteers, first responders and the incident management team. Thank you also to Vail Honeywagon, who provided a hand washing station for volunteers to help ensure safe practices during our new era of living with COVID-19.

Witness stated seen at playground earlier this thread. Seems the river is close , too close for little guy out there alone. I just cannot get over witness not acting when this boy was observed alone at that time of the evening...:( MOO

If he is non verbal, it’s common to use them as a talking device. There are apps made for non verbal kids to be able to communicate and it’s cheapest to use them on a phone instead of a special device. Some non verbal kids have them on them at all times

Yeah I get that. And there are such great apps. I was thinking 3 years old was too young. I guess not though.

I've been thinking more about it, and IMO if it was Sebastian that was seen at the playground after 9:00 p.m. by the time he got to the river, he most likely IMO couldn't see how close he was because it was dark and just slipped and fell in. And yes IMO, I now do sadly think he will be found in the river. I was for a short time really hoping he just gave his phone and shirt (I think it was what was found) in the river and kept walking along it.

This is so sad. Not much hope left. Bless his little heart. I hope he's found soon.

Finally had a chance to pop in. Was relieved to see the header hadn’t changed to anything awful, but with an item of his clothing being found in the water I’m afraid we really are looking for a miracle here.
I’m just so confused by Sebastian being “seen” by someone at the playground, all alone, at that time of night and no one calling 911. We had two loose dogs in our neighborhood yesterday morning and I missed a doctor’s appointment because I couldn’t just leave them running loose. How could a person just gloss over a little boy alone anywhere or anytime in this day and age!
Do we know when his parents first noticed he was no longer in the apartment?

Praying for that miracle for Sebastian.

This is why in my head I have been wondering why we are sleuthing this missing autistic child near water differently than the other recent ones.... it's weird to me that we are treating this one like a horrible accident that could not have been prevented even though all the others we instantly jump to blaming the parents and talking about how horribly irresponsible they must be and questioning drug use, etc etc....

What makes this one different?

I am not victim blaming, I am questioning the difference in sleuthing.

I truly thought of this last night when I asked where exactly did he go missing from and if it were that he is in the water how did he get there? MOO

Do we have any new info? Are the family speaking out? Just crickets for some reason IMO MOO

I have been thinking the same thing.

I've also been thinking how easy it is to put an item of clothing in the water to suggest that's where someone is. We had a case recently of a child who went into the water (I think 3 year old boy , was with his grandma) and they found his shoes in the water, at the time I thought the same thing.

I am NOT suggesting anything nefarious here, I just keep thinking how very easy it is to make a missing persons case look like an accident when you have water near by to attract / divert attention, especially if the missing persons items are found in the water.

Praying for a miracle.

For me personally, it was because I read on social media and saw the support Mom had. I thought back to when my own kids were little, remembered a few heart pounding moments when I couldn't find one. How that felt in the moment, how she must feel waiting for them to find Sebastian's body.

I felt compassion for this Mom, who for whatever reason took her eyes and attention off this little guy. Maybe she thought he was in his bedroom, I don't know the circumstances. Thinking about how life altering this will likely be and how she will cope with the guilt.

If evidence turns up to the contrary, I will feel differently.

UPDATE 7:00 pm, 6/9/20 - Sebastian Rodriguez Castro Search

The search continues for Sebastian Rodriguez Castro, who went missing from his Eagle Villas apartment the evening of Friday, June 5th. Over 500 volunteers and nearly 30 first response agencies have helped search for him over the past four days. Search teams have utilized dogs on both land and water, and have also searched by air via helicopters and drones. Efforts to find him have so far been unsuccessful.

The incident continues to be managed as Unified Command between the Eagle Police Department, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and Vail Mountain Rescue. Today, Fire Chief Doug Cupp assumed the Incident Commander position, and will be leading the search and rescue teams over the next several operational periods.

Search teams continue to comb the river from Eagle to Hanging Lake. This short video clip shows some of the search activity from the viewpoint of one of the search UAVs (drones).

Public safety officials continue to emphasize the dangerous conditions in and around the river and discourage members of the public from conducting their own searches in those areas. Water-based search efforts should be left to our highly trained water rescue teams. If citizens were to be injured or need rescue, it would divert valuable resources away from the search.

We have searched all the areas that can be searched safely. The river is running too high to place divers or even the remote submarine into these deep pockets of water/debris
