I think what's disturbing me about the videos is they go on and on. What's the point? I know they can't be edited since they are live, but they can be shorter. I get a sense that she has a lot of stamina and energy and might not realize others don't have that much. Kind of reminds me the saying, "The party isn't over until someone is crying."

jmo
The party hadn't even started though.

she looked totally normal to me - having a great time. SW seems very responsive to her kids and backs off when she needs to. In the whipped cream vid, CW is the one who does not respond to the older child when she becomes upset. He ignores her and SW comforts the child. This is classic and indicates a rigid male role built on power and control.
That's interesting because my reaction is that CW just did exactly as he was instructed. Bella was hiding under the table for quite some time and SW instructed CW to put her back at the Pie station and that's when Bella melted down. Only then did SW comfort her.

@BelleIsle Wow. I didn’t even think about the fact that if his story was true, he would have still been responsible for the death of his unborn son.

I’ve viewed this case as the majority of us on here have, that he killed them all, and made up a ridiculous story to cover himself.

I didn’t even consider that aspect, that even in his scenario, he killed his unborn child. Chilling.

Hi MassGuy,

I’m behind and catching up myself but just wanted to say a while back that a poster had mentioned (paraphrasing) that maybe in the heat of the moment CW didn’t realize about his child while strangling Shanann. My response was that I highly doubt he suddenly forgot his wife was pregnant.

For the sake of argument, say that Chris did in fact Kill Shanann because she was controlling and “bossy.” Fine, it’s a motive, although never an acceptable one. Then why kill his kids? Why the grotesque body disposal? Lots of men have killed their wives for one reason or another, but most don’t wipe out their entire families. I think there’s more in play here.

He seems very docile.
I’m sure there’s a psychological term for this, but years ago when my son was breaking up with one of his ex girlfriends, and she was very upset, he explained to me why he was breaking up with her. He said that he was tired of not being himself in his relationships. Every time he had a girlfriend, he became what she wanted him to be, said what he thought she wanted him to say, did what he thought she wanted him to do. He lost himself, and he was miserable. I was glad my son figured that out for himself, and I see that same “whatever you want, baby,” behavior in CW. How he followed SW’s lead and did whatever she told him to do. I can see how a guy stuck in that situation could grow to hate their wife. Everything she did would drive them nuts, and fill them with anger and resentment. Just the sound of her voice could grate on him like chalk on a chalkboard. I can see how a totally out of touch husband might feel that the only way to get it to stop would be to kill her. And the idea of a new baby (that he agreed to because that’s what she wanted) could have made him feel like he’d never get out, stuck forever, and never be free to be and do what he wanted to do.

I just wish one of those K-9s ran up on him during the interview and started barking directly at him. :)
I wish the family dog would suddenly get a voice. I've thought about how Shan'ann's brother must look longingly at the dog, if only.

Thanks. I suppose it’s theoretically possible that in the heat of passion, he forgot about that. I don’t buy it though either, as I think he knew exactly what he was doing.

Agreed. She needed to tell him to comfort Bella, then he would have done it. For some reason he needed to be instructed and I think this is the root of something... I just don’t know what. Comparing his demeanor in her home videos to his demeanor in the interview/plea when they were missing is really interesting. He seems to have a lot more confidence and personality (even if we know it was an act) in the interview when SW was gone. It’s like he felt empowered or knew he had the upper hand. IDK maybe I’m reading into it too much. JMO

He didn't want his mistresses to see him on video doing family time. So he was aggravated about being on display.

And she may have wanted to remind his mistresses that he has a family. And enjoyed putting him on display.

Idk.
Bingo

In Feb. of 2016, on Staten Island, a woman named Rebecca Cutler and her little girls were stabbed to death by Ms. Cutler's ex. He claimed he killed her to defend the little girls from her. He said he walked in while she was in the process of stabbing them and that he got the knife away from her and stabbed her with it to try to save them. He had a hung jury.

I don't know about the case. But how did he behave after they were stabbed? Did he rush to hide the bodies? The evidence that they were stabbed by Rebecca? Or did he call the police?

No, I think you are right. I think he dreaded her arriving back from AZ.

AB 9/19/18 (cont.)
1. Baby Monitor. SW’s January’s diffuser birthday video clearly shows the baby monitor displaying images on night stand. CW said he saw goings on in bedroom on that monitor.
2. Size of image is so small it’s really hard to determine what’s going on. There are red and green lights that change when there is movement in room.
3. Monitor has scan feature that automatically toggles every 8 seconds.
4. Images in nighttime mode are black and white. Even if lights were on, it’s impossible to see blue skin color.
Questions from viewers
1. What happens to house? CW can sign house over to interested family members.
2. Explain unlawful termination of pregnancy. CO doesn’t have murder charge for unborn fetus. But this law means he terminated pregnancy without lawful authority.
3. Could CW have dug grave before killing SW? Doesn’t seem likely.
4. Will Defense use SW’s Lupus against her meaning that having Lupus would lead her to do things she wouldn’t normally do? Very thin, wouldn’t use medical condition that the victim allegedly has, wouldn’t put much stock in it, if you blame the victim you’re in trouble.

Hi, has the make/model of the baby monitor been determined/discussed? Sorry if I missed this; I feel like I need a visual of the product and would like to look it up. Tia.

ETA: Also have any actual images (not videos) of the baby monitor been posted? Tia.

(I do my best to try to read all the posts, sorry for repeats)

Hi longtime lurker, new member here!

What I see in the videos is very telling about Chris Watts. He does whatever she tells him to do and is the one constantly tending to the kids while she makes videos for people online. I think he was resentful of getting put in this position so often for the sake of her fans. I get the sense that he is very introverted and most likely did not want to be in the video about losing the chess game or pie in the face, but what can you do in a live video? You don’t protest, you just do it quietly... I am the same way (and no I’m not sympathizing with him, he clearly is sick and a horrible person), however I get closed off and very submissive around loud and extroverted people. They make me uncomfortable. Truth be told my own kids sometimes get me to snap into the zombie-quiet-dutiful mode just because I’m going through the motions and want to be done with whatever we are doing. That’s what I see in Chris ... someone who is going through the motions, being dutiful, but is seething on the inside. Even his “nice nice nice nice, give me a high five” doesn’t seem natural in the pie video. I do the same thing when I’m uncomfortable, I’ll repeat the same phrase over and over again and it comes off awkward. And in Shannann I see some passive aggressive anger/resentment at Chris. Maybe they were just in a funk and she got annoyed easily with him. My husband and I went through a funk where we went to marriage counseling and I remember he annoyed me a lot then.

Nevertheless, none of these things makes you kill. If he was so unhappy which is what I see, then he should have asked for a divorce. I also don’t believe for one second that HE was the one who wanted a 3rd kid. I think that was just the narrative she gave online & im guessing it pissed him off quietly like everything else she said to him/about him online.

Great post

He hated being a family man. He wanted his freedom. He didn’t want to care for or be responsible for two little kids, they’d get in the way of the life he desired. But he still cared about what people thought of him, appearances were everything. He didn’t want to be thought of as the guy who ran out on his family, so he had to come up with a plan to get rid of all of them and still come out looking like a good guy.

That scenario, or something similar, I buy. I’d add in the financial problems as well, but I tend to agree with you.

The only living being he did not kill in that family was the dog.

I am not sure that we need to go off on other cases. Each case is unique.

The only living being he did not kill is the dog. The dog was totally innocent. I don't think that you have to pay dog support payments.

True. I guess it's applicable because he tried a similar defense.
