Cameras everwhere. I am not picking you apart. I cannot figure out the plan. Looking for ideas
I used to know the area, but the population has EXPLODED in the last couple decades, so there are people and cameras everywhere. The hikers and campers and hunters and snow skiiers and tourists and holy cow the bicyclists (EVERYWHERE). But less of them on the hot desolate plains to the east. Idk, I kind of assumed CW used the truck and garage and left at that time to appear normal. Not related to your post but I've heard this mentioned here a couple times, Lexus are not uncommon, nor are $400K homes nor $70K credit card debt out there.

Could it be that they had the initial report at the time they agreed to the deadline, but then for some reason needed additional input and sent it to the forensic pathologist?

I don't see where anyone agreed to a deadline? I think the defense filed a motion under the assumption that the state has the final report, and the judge issued an order under the assumption that the state has the final report. The state maybe should have said in its sealing motion directly that the prosecution does not yet have the report but they would like to move now to seal the report before anyone receives it to alleviate any concern the Court may have about potential leaks.

The only thing I'm getting here is the relationship between the prosecution and the defense is already very strained since one office would not say to the other office informally that they don't have the report yet. This type of motion practice comes up when no one will pick up the phone over minor issues.

The prosecution has not received the report themselves. They were just being proactive
The DA should have made it clear to the Judge first time around. JMO

How could he ditch the vehicle? I did not relaize no mountains there until people pointed it out.

He could drive it somewhere and then run home. But where?
Human.... I was just there a few days before this horrible event.... we drove right past the Watts neighborhood heading down Rt25 on the way back to airport..... the mountains are there (foothills)...
They look closer but maybe a 1/2 hour drive (based on going from our friends house in Berthoud into Rocky Mountain National Park).... someone who lives there would know better. It is flat area until the mountains start!

I think he smothered the girls first, using pillows hence why pillow cases thrown away.
I believe he already had them moved to the garage when SW got home or both girls where in his bed. My hope is SW never knew the girls where deceased. I believe he killed SW very shortly after she arrived home. I'm unsure of the plan after the fact if he planned on coming home and disposing of everything including her vehicle and then report her missing or if planned on coming home and staging the scene to look like a struggle took place and the family was missing. I feel the dumping sight was pre planned. SW I feel was meant to be put in a tank but he couldn't get her in. Whether opening to small or to heavy for him. I also think he would have moved SW when he could.
Of course all 100% my opinion.

That scenario fits with my thinking as well -- he may well have had a better plan than he was able to carry out. Or not.

IMO, most likely, things took longer than he expected -- SW's late arrival, and his likely panic created mistakes and possibly made him forget some details of his grand plan. A perfect crime is near-impossible to pull off, and this one was nowhere close.

I think he learned about the cameras before the arrest because he answered questions with really specific times, like he left at 5:23 am, etc, and I think he got that from what he was told from the cameras. JMO
Do we know if LE had told him those times or not when he said that? LE canvassed the neighborhood the day before.

You know, it was very early in this case (thread #1 or 2, maybe) when we were talking about all the doors being locked and someone said, "but he forgot about the doors." I think it was Katydid who immediately responded, "They always do."

CW is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he is also not alone in that regard.

I thought they were required to turn it over to the defense by today as part of the discovery process? Is that not right?

But if they have not received it yet, they cannot turn it over.

The Saint,
Men murder their pregnant wives/girlfriends when they don't want the baby. Factor in financial stress, family illness, marital problems, juggling multiple affairs/hookups with both genders and you have a powderkeg ready to blow.

Laura Wallen's case is a further example.
These creeps, have a second relationship, at the same time, and the pregnant partner is murdered.
Why not just 'walk away': so much easier.

<modsnip - removed quoted post>

If SW strangled Bella, then was in the middle of brutally strangling CeCE, then I would have killed her myself if it needed to be done to try and save CeCe. But I would have started CPR and called 911, instead of dumping the bodies.

I think the accusations of child abuse, the supposed lack of emotional connection to her children, alleged cruelty in forcing a crying child onto Santa's lap, lack of nurturing etc etc---it is being said as a way to imply that she was more likely to kill the children than CW was. JMO

I don't know if we know the answer of how CW knew specific times from camera footage. IMO LE wouldn't have shared that information with him so soon, especially if the discovery of that information was paired with a growing suspicion that he may be attempting to deceive those around him. They would have wanted to guard that info closely while continuing to observe his behavior.

If CW was to find out about specific times of camera footage, I'm thinking it would have been from his caring and concerned neighbors. At that point, they would have still been led to believe (by CW) that he did not know where they were, and in an attempt to help him, I wouldn't be surprised if they willingly shared any video footage they had.

Do we know what caused CW to finally confess instead of continuing his charade?

He was backed into a corner. The bed sheet and disturbed ground had already been spotted by the drone and he was being shown aerial photographs of the oil tank area. BUSTED

They told him they knew where the bodies were and showed him a drone image. He could wait until they were found, and be dead to rights, or he could make up A BS story that atleast gave him a fighting chance. After talking with his dad, he chose the latter.

He thought LE and the DA were a bunch of suckers. They proved they weren’t, when they charged him with 5 counts of murder in the first.

Was the comment they have not received? Not questioning you I’m trying to recall myself . I was wondering if they’ve have seen the report but just don’t have it and what prelim findings were certainly they have/or seen those imo

He could have just left. Why didn't he just leave? Money, child support, another woman, his wife supposedly being controlling and too many medical problems all around. Whatever the rumors or reasons are, he could have just left and tried to work it out like an adult, a husband and father of 3. This entire tragic crime was so unnecessary but it happens again and again.

IMO he must have honestly believed he would get away with it all somehow. I can't fathom how this was his most viable option no matter what happened that night. Shanann's bright light is gone, Bella and Cece will never get to grow up, Nico will never take his first breath, and regardless of the trial outcome CW's life is ruined and he's going to be locked up for years if he makes it that long.

I feel so sad for both families. No matter what they believe or where they stand, they are all living a massive nightmare they didn't sign up for, and they all lost so much.
