I haven't learned about the blankets for the girls. This makes what I was thanking. If a murder doesn't care about the people he or she murdered they just dump the bodies along the way. But by him putting them in the oil tanks shows he didn't want to dump his precious babies. So he wraps them in their blanket...then he might have put the blankets in as well. That way he wouldn't have to look at them.
When time came for Shan'anns turn came he couldn't put her in tank, but he could bury her nearby. That way he has her near the girls and in his mind it was the thing to do. I think he had emotional connections but let things get out of hand when he killed them.

I too hadn't learned about the blankets for the girls, until reading The Daily Beast article (quoted below, bbm) that specifically mentions baby blankets:

At 1:40 p.m., police came to the three-story home for a welfare check. Shanann’s purse, cellphone and car keys were inside. Investigative sources tell The Daily Beast that baby blankets were missing on the childrens’ beds.
Friends Called Cops After Chris Watts’ Wife and Daughters Disappeared

We also have a video interview, during which NUA describes her observations of the girls' beds (quote at 3:35, bbm):

"The girls’ beds weren’t made. Shanann was very OCD. Everything in her house had a place. Everything was labeled. If something was out of the ordinary, it was really out of the ordinary for her."
Video: Friend of woman allegedly killed by husband on why something 'didn't seem right'

I also agree that it's likely CW would have wrapped the girls in some type of cover when dumping their bodies, however, I strongly believe CW did this for selfish reasons, due to CW wanting to avoid looking at his daughters' lifeless eyes as he stuffed them in the tanks.

In no way do I believe CW placed them in the tanks and SW in a grave nearby for any good reason, that would have come from some emotional connection.

IMO, CW murdering his wife and unborn son and stuffing his girls in oil tanks is proof enough that he had zero emotional connection with any of them. If he truly had a strong enough emotional connection to have wanted SW to be nearby the girls, he probably wouldn't murdered her, and he would have called 911 to save his girls. Jmo

Thanks for reading it. I can't believe how long my post ended up being.
I can't believe the things I'm reading either. It's just a mom having fun with her daughters!
I agree. And nobody knows what preceded the video. Did Bella ask her Mommy to squirt her with water? Was this something they liked to do when it was hot outside? Bella is laughing throughout the video, at times what I would call "squealing with delight." Shanann says, "having fun with the kiddos!"

Can we have a dislike button added ?

Are we cherry picking videos again? I thought that was done. SW’s parenting, whether you agree with it or not, did not cause her to be murdered. IMO, if I were the grandparents, I’d be happy to have the memories of the girls having fun.

My main thoughts after seeing that video 1) wow, Bella was having fun, and Cece too. 2) Nostalgia, if only my own parents had that technology to record all the times we played with the water hose on hot summer days in coastal PNW.
Exactly, if she wasn’t interacting with them she’d probably be accused of neglect. Those videos would have been invaluable to SW and the girls in many years, if they’d been allowed to live long enough to look back on them.

We had one of those big honking RCA video cameras in the 80s but since we couldn't always afford the video tapes, there aren't a lot of home movies. I wish there were. I honestly think that, once SW's girls were older, they'd have appreciated looking back on these and seeing so many of their childhood memories preserved like this. I wish I could do the same.

Good Morning everyone. I don't have a lot of time today to post but last night we were discussing the water spraying video and whether it was relevant to the murders. Some said they thought SW looked sad. Others said they sensed anger in the video. It was suggested that possibly the affairs were already ongoing and SW and CW were not happy at the time. These are subjective opinions that anyone is free to have. It seems pointless to argue with opinions about the Watt's family's perceived happiness in a SM video. But I have re-watched it and I'm just stumped on how these conclusions are being drawn and what it has to do with the murders. Here is the video for anyone who has not seen it:
Here are some facts about the above video that are not based on opinion:
The video is 3 minutes and 17 seconds long.
This video was posted to SW's fb April 24, 2017.
This video happened approx 1 year and 4 months prior to the murders.
Bella would have been only 3 and Cece not yet 2.
Not once do we see SW's face in this video.
Bella was not harmed during this video.
Bella did not have an asthma attack.
CeCe was not harmed during this video.
The dog, Dieter, was not harmed.
CW was watching from inside the house and present inside the door with CeCe throughout the entire video.

My Opinions and Observations Only:
I see a happy giggling child playing a game with her mother.
When SW asks Bella to open her mouth for water, Bella complies and more giggling ensues. When SW asks Bella to show her belly, Bella complies again more than once and giggles and shrieks with joy while her mother squirts her belly with the water bottle.
In the beginning, SW asks CW not to let CeCe outside.
SW squirts the sliding door window pane in front of CeCe and mentions that CeCe doesn't like the water but loves to stay behind the slider and pretend she is getting hit with water.
This shows that SW was aware of how CeCe would react.
SW knows her daughters and has played this game before.
SW even gives the water bottle to Bella at one point so Bella can squirt the glass in front of CeCe. Bella squirts towards CeCe and then turns the water on her mom with glee.
SW only objects to the water coming at her because she has her phone and doesn't want to get it wet. She takes the water bottle back after a couple times of Bella spraying towards her.
In the very last seconds of the video Bella does start to get a little whiny and asks to go in, lifting her arms up to CW to open the door and pick her up. SW says jokingly to CW "no, don't save her". but the video ends as she lets Bella go inside.
SW doesn't force the child to continue when she gets a little upset. The video ends at that point.
At no time do I see any sign Bella is not enjoying the water play until the last seconds.
How some are concluding SW looked sad or may have been angry when we don't see her face once is beyond me.
One cannot possibly judge someone's emotional state from an approx 3 minute video in which you only hear her voice describing her water fight with her children as it occurs.
And that voice is not raised in anger nor yelling any insults during the video which would indicate anger.
She is not professing anything that is sad either-- the opposite is occurring as she describes how they love to play games like this with her kids (my interpretation of SW's saying "This is why we have kids").
To say that SW was sad because she enjoyed making her daughter laugh while spraying water is so far off the mark it would be funny if these were not murder victims we are discussing. Instead, I find that insinuation insulting and disgusting.
There is just no possible way to gauge if SW was actually sad behind her laughter at her child's giggles. Why people are trying to say that is baffling to me. And if she was sad 1 year and 4 months prior to being murdered by her husband, what does that reveal?
This video also offers no evidence of an ongoing affair 1 year and 4 months prior to the murders. That's not to say CW wasn't cheating yet (he is a proven cheater and proven liar now) but if he was cheating it is not revealed by this water spraying video.
We barely see CW. He stays inside behind the sliding door with CeCe and opens the door to let Dieter in once.
Like many of SW's videos, CW is only in the background and doesn't say much.
But he is aware of the situation the entire time it is happening.
Yet CW is not criticized by anyone criticizing SW for spraying Bella with water.
If this water play was so bad and dangerous to Bella, why didn't CW intervene sooner? Why is he given a free pass as to his actions?
What does anything in this video have to with the murders? I fail to see any connection. Aside from the sadly ironic end where SW's JOKES "Don't save her," contrasted with the gruesome reality that 1 year and 4 months later CW did NOT save Bella. CW proceeded to choke the life out of her and hide her body in an oil tank 1 year and 4 months later.
Are some saying SW's joking in a water fun video is a self-fulfilling prophecy? I'll agree it's eerie but it's not indicative of SW telling CW to murder his child and hide the bodies 1 year and 4 months prior to him doing it. Not by a long shot.
Lastly, I'm at a loss to understand how this video could be used in court. I don't think we will see it played but if we do it will be used to show how much JOY SW shared with her children.
A joyful life that was taken away too soon by CW.
MOO.

Great list! I'd like to add, and not sure if it's been mentioned yet in regards to this video, but per SW's fb page we can see that it was broadcasted by SW as a live video. I believe it's important for anyone to consider that when viewing any of SW's live videos.

For those who may not have viewed a live video before on SM, it has an entirely different feel, IMO, when you are viewing it in real time, live, as someone is filming it. Sadly, none of SW's friends will ever get to view one of her live videos again in real time, as it is happening.

Similarly, it's a different type of feel when you're the one broadcasting it. Whenever SW decided to "go live," it's like live tv being broadcasted, in real time. Friends (viewers) can interact with you and comment while you're filming. Jmo

That was the "script" he was going to go with, so he stayed with it. Even though, it was completely disorganized. And then, the Mental Giant, decided to go with a story, about SW "killing" the children, so, of course, he had to kill her, and in the stress of the moment, threw the bodies in the trunk, dumped them at the work site, so he wouldn't be late to work, or leave dead bodies lying around while he was at work. Can't miss a day of work! Even if your wife kills your kids, and you kill her, you still have to get to work!

Right. No one has that kind of work ethic, except for CW!
Well, he did have the added incentive of the A/P being at work...

Yes, I have asthma and a splash of water in MY face would cause me problems. The discussion was about the "spraying" video. The contention was one faction saying it cannot be reasonably interpreted except as a fun, benign happening. And I don't feel that way. I don't have to regard SW as a flawless person in order to be sad she was murdered and the girls murdered. And I feel the videos give a lot of clues about the crime and how I think SW was being gaslighted by CW. Reasonable people can differ, and I like to hear various opinions, not jump on them or try to shut them down when they don't jive with mine.

Edited, spelled jive wrong

Ok, perhaps we got off on the wrong foot here. I'm still confused on how you perceive SW. No one said anything about her being flawless. But how does bringing up her possible flaws equate with your being sad about her being murdered? If you are sad about her being murdered and you believe she was gaslighted by her murderer, say that first. Why criticize her actions or theorize on her state of mind in a video taken over a year prior? No one is jumping on you, but when you make a claim such as "Bella could have had an asthma attack" and there is no evidence that Bella had an asthma attack during the water fight nor had ever had one due to water in her face before, then you are going to be asked to clarify why you think that and what that has to do with the murder. That's what we do here. Discuss ideas. It is not personal. I really want to understand.

My point was IRT my view of the spraying video. I felt there was an undercurrent of restlessness in the video. I felt SW seemed unusually not herself, with the spraying in the face, and I wondered what could cause that, and IMO maybe she was stressed because CW was already cheating on her and gaslighting her about it. When someone gaslights you, it distracts you.

Thank you for expanding on your opinion. I feel like this is completely different from what you seemed to say last night. Gaslight is one of my favorite classic movies. Can you point to anything specific that CW did or said during the video that you think indicates gaslighting?

Like you just did, I was responding to a discussion. The discussion was if there were undercurrents in the video. My opinion, yes. I think CW, even a year before, was causing stress, IMO, an affair secretly underway that SW could feel but maybe not prove.

This is possible. I would not be surprised if CW was a lying cheater throughout the entire marriage. But what do you see in the water spray video, specifically, that points to this? Can you describe words they exchanged or actions that may indicate an affair? Emotions are very subjective. But actions and words spoken are easier to agree on.

I don't know about any previous admonitions about a water slide. This is entirely too controlling, IMO, to have this much pressure because I state my opinion of what I feel! I feel there was an undercurrent that wasn't good, that pressure was on SW. The end of my response, thx.

I'm sorry you feel like responding here is pressure-filled. No one is controlling your posts or making you respond. As our mods are always telling us, feel free to roll and scroll if you don't want to discuss something. I'm sorry you feel that way as I really want to understand your point of view. I think a claim that CW was gaslighting SW is a viable theory to explore but not in the context of the water squirting video (I can't see any evidence of that in that particular video MOO). If you can list specific things from other videos or posts, such as actions or words exchanged, that are not based on subjective interpretations of emotions, I would be open to reading how CW was gaslighting SW. It's an interesting theory and one I have not seen discussed much here since I started reading on this case.

We have heard the opinions of many experts as to CW's porch performances; I ran across this one this morning and don't remember it being posted, although I sure could have missed it.

Gene West, former FBI behavioral science expert says, "He realizes what he's done; that his story is unraveling. And that's probably his main concern during the course of that interview. There was no focus on his wife and children."

You were asking for a better close-up of the sofa cushions in the loft last night. You can see it about 5.45mins into this video. Just the back of the sofa appears to be leather and the sofa cushions seem to be suede or something. There are also lots of throw cushions...

I hope we get more information this week. There’s so much to speculate with so few pieces to the puzzle.

LE would have been thrilled with CW's Oscar performance, during his media interviews.
As we are.
CW spilled the beans completely.
They probably sit around now, having a laugh, at his stupidity.
I also wonder, if LE perhaps had something to do with these interviews: getting CW to speak early, being unaware, he was being critically observed.
Then we get the Police interviews, and CW is charged.
CW had little time for his freedom, and there will never again, be any freedom for him.
MOO.
Agree. The press doing a interview that quickly seems like they were directed to by LE or Nua to help catch him up in lies.

Thank you Mo, that is exactly what I was looking for! The seat cushions appear loose to me (and CeCe is adorable jumping on them). With all those large pillows for the back cushions it would be easily for a phone to get lost in that type of couch. So while CW may have hidden the phone there I'm not yet convinced that is the only explanation as AB implied. I so hope there is something on the phone that shows how it got there-- The start of a video, a recording, a text sent from the loft area, anything. Maybe we won't find out, but this mystery of the phone's location continues to bug me. MOO.

I agree that LE wanted to encourage media interviews, but I don't think trying to interview the remaining family member from the house of a missing pregnant woman and her two toddlers the day after they are reported missing with all their things left at home is early for the press. Just IMO.

I don’t want to feed it- but I just wanted to say .. my hubby and I are from the northeast . I’m from NJ (may not matter or seem presumptuous ) but we are very sarcastic . I have water gun fights with my three kiddos all the time and we laugh going after them . I’ve never over analyzed the YouTube stuff because heck. I’d hate to have my interactions analyzed - as we all have a dry, sarcastic humor. And my kids drive me crazy sometimes and I certainly express it- I’d hate if there we’re videos of our interactions with our kids in light of a tragedy- for anyone to misinterpret . It’s ok to feel uncomfortable and it not be in your parental wheelhouse . It never sparked any concern in me. We are all different people , different mothers and I’ve never questioned if those girls were loved.

You're welcome, and yes Cece is a totally adorable bonus to watching that video! I agree – looks like small items could easily get lost down that couch with all the cushions.

To me, it showed hostility toward her child.
Do you have children? I'm asking because children in general love playing in water or anything to do with water. We'd have to file charges on 80% of parents or more if playing with water/squirting them constituted hostility. It's like saying that parents who tickle their kids are hostile. <modsnip - rude >
