Excellent post!

I think of Drew Pederson who managed to try to kill his second wife by tampering with her car brakes and then killed his 3rd and 4th wives after that. He had to have the body of wife #3 exhumed because by the time he got to wife #4 he had got it down to a science and was able to successfully hide the body!

People that kill their spouses don’t change after they get rid of their spouses. If they can elude LE, they just find new and more foolproof ways to do it (and it is a boon if they are actually LE themselves). IMO

thanks for reply marli appreciate your thoughts.

from my viewpoint, there is nothing worse than him killing those kids....the disposal really is a means to an end simple as that.
part of the cover up.
how he got them into the tank doesn't change the motivation, intent or reality of what happened.

the lingering issue in my mind is how could he come up with such an incredible place to hide them......on the spot???heat of the moment.....

I 100% dont think so and there lays plenty of premeditation or more to the point......PRE PLANNING.

jmo
How did he know for sure that they would fit? Even people who are familiar with the size of the hole could not imagine it. I wonder if he took their measurements some time before he killed them. At least their shoulders.

@Tippy Lynn
I think I have a 'normal' amount of empathy, I try to put myself in another person's shoes and find a logical reason for their actions.

I can't imagine doing what CW did if his claim is true. CW hasn't got a criminal record where one more misdeed would land him in jail. There isn't a logical reason behind him discarding the bodies and covering for SW. There isn't a logical reason for him strangling SW to death, there are hundreds of women who've survived strangulation, he could have stopped and called 911.

There must be a reason for CW wanting SW dead. It's not reasonable he killed her for killing the girls because he sure as heck didn't care about discarding their bodies like rubbish. So CW instantly disconnected from his children once they were dead? Or did CW disconnect from his children while they were alive?

CW could've stayed home and thought and grieved but he went straight into cover up mode. It's not a reasonable response for a person innocent of a crime, a crime he says SW committed, there'd be evidence of who killed the girls. SW's finger and hand impressions and long fingernails would no doubt leave evidence on her babies necks. CW would see these with his own eyes.

Imo, CW isn't worth crying over, but he deserves a fair trial and afaik, we're unable to convict him on WS, lol. The defense at this stage has to believe his story until there isn't a reason to anymore. I'm pretty confident this is where it's heading.

Good points!

To illicit empathy from the public? It isn't working if the comments to that story are any indication. People are ready to press the button now! We look tame.
Many people here along the Front Range are not amused by Mr. Watts and what I hear around town mirrors those comments, and worse.

Yep! I've seen it more than once!

There have been several of the Manson followers who found God in prison! Bobby Bouseleil, Tex Watkins, and especially Susan Atkins (Sharon Tate’s slayer) who founded her own ministry behind bars. Charles Manson was brought up by a devout Christian fire & brimstone grandmother in his early years and look at how well that panned out.

It is generally a good ploy in some prisoner’s minds for subsequent parole boards and yet IMO family annihilators are worse than Manson. Manson didn’t kill children, Manson didn’t kill family members and he didn’t kill people in general (he got others to do it for him). If people really look at this objectively, CW is no better, Bible or no Bible!

Chris Watts Has a Family Picture in His Jail Cell, Says Source: 'He Has Nothing To do But Reflect'

His cell is no less sparse. PEOPLE has learned that the 33-year-old has just two personal effects: a Bible and a photo of his wife and children, 34-year-old Shan’ann Watts and girls Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3 — the same people he allegedly killed.

At a joint memorial service for Shan’ann and her daughters in August, she was remembered as “a woman of love.”

“She loved God, her family and her friends,” Father John Forbes told the mourners. “She was a woman of determination. She had dreams to be fulfilled, and she worked towards to those dreams. She wanted to make a difference. She wanted to be an exceptional wife and mother.”

Bizarre!

Not successful and not a paper cut, but …

Accused sex killer Col. Russell Williams attempts jailhouse suicide

"Using a cardboard toilet roll stuffed with more foil and cardboard, Col. Williams stuffed it down his throat in an apparent bid to suffocate himself, sources said."
Quite an intelligent man so coming up with suicide by toilet roll isn't hard to believe, he must have been desperate though, ashamed of himself for getting caught!
It's horrible how a 'good' man who did good deeds, was actually a monster!

This is an apt description, a vacant soul full of bravado!

At that time, Col. Williams was assessed by a psychiatrist and deemed a possible suicide risk. His demeanour has been described as "cocky," but "vacant."

They talked about CW's fan club on AB's show today too.

9. CW has fans. Women have been writing love letters to him, claiming to have called his parents, saying his parents love him and still support him. People from all over the world are reaching out to him. A psychologist explains these women as insecure, and they’re seeking power and affiliation.

You know, I looked up websites from another country - they contain advices about writing letters to prison. In general, women who write letters to prisoners are different, and the motives can be different.

However, this system, writing letters or emails, to jail, is viewed positively by the community. Think of it. Many people are jailed in this world. Eventually, they will get out and start a new life. For them not to fall into despair and not to grow totally wild, emotionally, letters from the free world, even from the people they might never know, are considered similar to good psychotherapy. People are lacking emotional contact in prison, so letters help, immensely.

I never regarded letters to prison in this light, but I can see the point.

However - it is very sad that instead of supporting some people who were jailed because of stupid actions, drugs, for DUIs, theft, even, something where rehabilitation is possible, the whole world is supporting a man who has killed his wife and kids.

Folks, please limit your references to the bible. It is okay to discuss that CW has one and to speculate on why he may have it (i.e. potential suicide), but please do not get into religious discussion or your own personal religious beliefs. IOW, it's okay to speculate he may use it for x purpose, or he may think it will serve x purpose. We have members of all different faiths however, believers and non-believers, etc, so we don't want discussion of your own interpretations of religious content. It can be offensive to others who believe differently.

So these women are writing him love letters... surely he is not allowed to actually read them?

I don’t think the whole world is suppporting CW. It’s probably actually a small amount in the grand scheme of this case.

I used to live there and have family who live in Thornton, close by. I do not doubt it. People have a lot of common sense and his behavior and story just do not pass the smell test, IMO. If I were the prosecution, I would play those media interviews for as long as and as frequently as they are permitted. They just wrap up the whole charade better and faster for people than a host of witnesses and physical evidence, IMO. He may not take the stand, but his words will. Just like SP’s calls to Amber IMO.

To me this is the most solid evidence of guilt in my view. I’ll never get past that he didn’t get help for those kids. Call 911, hit the panic button, run to the neighbors screaming for help. Something!

I can’t believe that an “innocent” man would switch from a loving father who is so enraged at someone harming his kids, to quickly and suddenly thinking only about himself and how it might “look” to authorities. It just makes zero sense to me no matter what theories come to light.

He murdered his wife and baby. Do you think anyone would turn themselves in after that? No matter what, he is looking at prison. Makes sense to me that he would want to save himself.

The thing is he is not claiming that he murdered SW; the way it he worded it is to mitigate culpability. He could have called 911 and said it was in defense of another, if it were true. Not commit more felonies..

Firstly it’s unbelievable he spent 4-5 minutes strangling his wife instead of throwing her off and saving his babies.

Secondly I wouldn’t even be thinking about consequences if I’d just watched my two children die. I’d be devastated and screaming for help. I wouldn’t be able to think rationally, calmly and methodically to do what he did after the murders.

And lastly, I’d willingly go to prison for the rest of my life before I ever stuffed my child into an oil tank.

There’s too many “unbelievables” in the chain of events he’s offered. And I deal with people in emergency situations every day of my working life, I know the range of normal - and this isn’t it.

Whether he killed them in cold blood, or it was an accident, I don't know if he would have turned himself in.

But what I do believe is that if he had any ounce of love for his girls, (doesn't even have to be both, how about love for even just one of them), I believe he would have turned himself in. He would have risked it all just for the chance of letting them breathe again.

The fact that he did not says so much, IMO. Jmo

If CW wanted to commit suicide in jail then he wouldn't have acted suicidal. Jmo.

Because they automatically disclose where you would be placed if deemed suicidal.

I think most people's instinct would have been try to have saved their children by calling 911 for paramedics before they thought about saving themself. JMO.
