Thank you guys so much for allowing me to join your forum! I watch Ashleigh Banfield every night and I am obsessed with this case. It’s amazing everything I have read on here so far. You guys have more insight and information than I have seen covered. I hope I can contribute even a fraction of what I see.
:) Welcome to Websleuths, SurvivedTheFire! :)
Sounds like you're going to fit right in!

He said he was coming from the Hudson site when the cops summoned him which is different. The site where the bodies are was about 45 minutes from his house. NUA contacted him at 12:10 but he didn’t get home until over an hour and a half later. IMO not enough time.
He said that? Interesting.
CW left home presumably with the bodies at 5:27AM so he had plenty of time to find a dump site whether it be Cervi or Hudson. We also can't judge CW's whereabouts because he has trouble with the truth, and CW delayed coming home until he knew that law enforcement was on their way to his house. Reportedly CW refused to come home when first requested to do so by NUA at about 12:10pm. MOO

He may have thought he could control the sites and prevent their discovery in the future. He would know where they were and if there was ever a discovery he would hear about it before the news or possibly even before LE was called, giving him a chance to go on the run. But I think he was so egotistical he thought his plan was brilliant and they would never be discovered. He thought he could fool everyone. He failed big time and was trapped when the police discovered the bedsheet while he was at the police station. MOO.
I cannot help but wonder if this is old oil pumper lore told over decades, like so and so went missing in 1966 and they found his bones after draining the tank X years later, you know, like the told and told and told again scary stories at camp near the campfire? But CW is the only one deranged enough to actually do it.

Whoa, in the intro he said he would testify if called to the stand in the Peterson case that he was insane. Legally insane? Interesting.

ETA add a question mark after the legally insane, is this forensic psychiatrist said he would get on the stand and call him insane, I would assume he means legally insane but I'm not sure.

We're going to learn so much more about what really happened when the autopsy results are made public.
Its frustrating because this is such an appalling case and many are still trying to wrap our heads around the why, the what and the how.

Interesting! There are so many similarities to other murderers, it's like CW studied FA cases before he did it himself. I'd like to watch - can you please post the link?

Maybe he did. Alternatively, the murderers create poor alibis and their subconscious message is, "I hate her, it is all her fault".

It would be very interesting to compare the personalities of the victims. For example, SW appeared secure, sure of herself, resourceful. Laci P. seemed to be much in love with Scott, but also, soft, hard-working, feminine, trusting.

What else do we know about the victims?

What common mistake did they make?

What was their common vulnerability?

Welcome! You are too kind...we are prone to getting inflated heads ;) I just found this site a few weeks ago myself after interest in this case. Besides reading on here, I personally highly recommend (and wish I had done this sooner) either reading about or watching on youtube some documentaries/true crime shows on the family annihilators that many of us here find most closely resemble this case: Neil Entwhistle, Christian Longo, Chris Coleman, and Scott Peterson. Some have also mentioned Michael Blagg but I am still researching him myself to see how closely he fits with this particular case. It is such an insanely difficult concept to grasp...men with no prior big red flags...doing the unthinkable, that it helps to familiarize yourself with other cases. Of course, there are also some on here who think CW's confession has credence, so if you also believe that, you might not find these other cases to be as applicable as I do. Up to you!

Hey all! Guess who got home from work early and am ready to bring you AB LIVE! Got my cat, got my beer, Let's Go!

Today 8 long weeks, still don't know how they died or why, a brand new detail guys! Did he off his family just when life was getting easy?

Another lady 22yo Melissa ... not sure what this has to do with SW...got beat up. They are talking about Melissa rn. Bf facing dm charge, he's fighting back, self defense, she started it...he's going to sue Melissa for destroying rep, incriminating audio tapes...jeez. Somehow this has something to do with CW/SW... They had argument, she was aggressor, he attacked her 'in defense' but he went way overboard. What a loser.

Doesn't add up. Erik's family is wealthy. They have threatened Melissa...People with money can get out of crimes. OK. Ima stop writing about this till I see a correlation. Looks like AB is finally moving away from the Watts story.
Ha! There was another in Weld County news recently but victim had a protection order against husband and he starts texting her that he can do a SW on her BUT he vowed not to hurt their children, but happy to "bury her." Sick, sick,....

IMO, LP and SW's ONLY mistake was falling in love with a sneaky, murdering liar who killed them and their unborn child.
These monsters are excellent con-artists and can con most people into believing they're normal.

Interesting re Scott P. Hiding his self. Makes sense.

Any info like that on any of the other killers?

Infants learn to quit crying when no one answers their cries. It used to be, and still is with some people, thought that babies should not be responded to. It spoils them.

The interactions babies learn are very interesting. There are many studies about parental interaction even at the smallest levels of eye movements.

I wonder if anyone will study the FA so there are more clues to pathology.

I think Family Annihilators is a LE term, not one grounded in some kind of psychological pathology. I'm not sure infants "learn" to quit crying when no one answers their cries. I think there are many studies that support not ignoring the cries of infants during certain ages of development in order to prevent extreme separation anxiety in the child long-term.

For me, it's not a good comparison to Family Annihilators, which is a term I'd never heard of until this case. For example, Christian Longo had a history of embezzlement, other crimes and he isolated his wife and children from her family. I see just the opposite behavior in Chris Watts from what little we know.

Maybe one of our VI's will weigh in.

Not legally insane. And he wasn't.
Just like Chris Watts isn't.

Now I really have to read it, because I do not understand how he could come to that conclusion! As in, shouldn't have had to stand trial?? Oh please!

AB Now

The neighbor who captured the comings and goings that morning on his surveillance camera had recently repositioned it, which inadvertently captured images that it would not have otherwise captured.

Neighbors also turned over footage from their doorbell surveillance cameras (Ring type devices).

Re the children as 'being unwanted objects', I remember reading somewhere the Shanann was originally supposed to have had trouble conceiving or maintain any pregnancies, because of her ‘health challenges’ (lupus, I think). Perhaps Chris was of the understanding from the outset of their marriage that there most probably never would be any children. Quite happy about that, never wanted any, anyway. Then, lo and behold, Shanann presents him with two children and yet another pregnancy in 6 short years. Yes, maybe he just never warmed to these children at all, and just played the dutiful husband and father role...with no effort. Maybe yet another pregnancy tipped him over the edge. Did we ever see Chris say with his own lips that he was absolutely delighted about this pregnancy? And really wanted a boy? Or was it all via Shananns proclamations? Maybe he just simply didn't want this family orientated lifestyle any more. Over it. Sort of sociopathic, innit!

This has all probably been previously discussed ad nauseum, but I haven't come across any posts in my trawlings of WS, so please forgive. I'm a newcomer!

I agree and believe CW eventually became "over it;" detached from being a father and no longer wanting any part in that family lifestyle. In CW's world, and in the new lifestyle that he likely envisioned for himself, having children was a dealbreaker, IMO. Hence the lack of 911 call and the oil tanks. Jmo

P.S. In case you missed it, MintLeighf touched on this topic in a fairly recent post (quoted below), drawing an interesting correlation between CW and SP:
Longtime lurker, first time poster so forgive me for latching onto a comment that is sort of off topic but sort of not( I haven’t been able to find a thread that I could post this) and may be breaking the rules...

C.W. reminds me of SP not only for this house selling desire/comment but the fact that they both chose partners that they believed (and found this “fact” to be attractive) were infertile! LP believed she was due to a surgery when young IIRC and SW believed she was due to her lupus...
I believe both started distancing themselves and plotting their wives’ murders the minute the children were conceived. It just took C.W. 3 kids to get the “resentful guts” to do so...

I was about 18 when LP went missing and am now 33 and to this day that case still haunts and fascinates me, much like this one.

Also forgive my phone for putting a period between C.W.

The oil doesn’t stay in those tanks forever, and they are drained and cleaned.
I also believe, depending on how well CW covered his tracks, the police would have eventually thought about those tanks even with no grave/sheet nearby. Especially if there is any other evidence we do not know about e.g. online searches, etc. Maybe it would have taken weeks...but I wonder if they would really have had to ignore the tanks when they didn't turn up elsewhere. He was probably hoping not only to better set the scene (I still believe to take the "crime" away from the house and him...by dumping her car elsewhere with her things IMO) but also probably hoping for "sightings" that always come. In SP case, there were sightings of Laci after he left. They always happen IMO.

IMO as remote as that site was I doubt it had surveillance.
Can you tell from google maps if the entrance the oil pumpers use/d is next to the main ranch house? Just to the right of the Cervi gate if your facing the main ranch entrance? If it was I wonder if the ranch had cameras both for the ranch hands and the Anadarko's, or if one of the ranch hands saw him driving by. AB made is sound like almost pitch black, it is not that dark that time of year/morning, not even requiring head lights.

O/t. There are lots and lots and lots of studies on secure attachment which means responding to the crying child.

Lots of studies on infants who have failure to thrive. Info on lamguage disorders.

I wonder about the early lives of the FA.

I wonder if 🤬🤬🤬🤬 will be something that appears with CW. That seems to be common with the FA guys that are posted.

And of course the name Chris.
