Quite dated, but back in the day they used walkie talkie like devices and the favorite was NexTel. Atleast in Ft Lupton oil company at the time. Are those called short-wave radio? Is so I question if the info on them is traceable. Is analog traceable?
Good thought. IMO it's doubtful CW had a work phone. It's very possible his pickup was equipped with a radio. (I'm like you WildWest..not really sure exactly what they are called.)

Man, it was almost impressive (if it hadn't been so horrifying) the lengths Coleman went to to set this up, with those letters he had been sending to his own house, and the emails, for MONTHS. The man was pure evil.
Fortunately, strangers almost never go to the efforts that Coleman went to. A killer doesn’t send letters before he acts, and he sure as hell doesn’t do it before he massacres a family.

In an effort to commit the perfect crime, he inadvertently pointed the focus of the investigation right at himself.

Did an alleged AP say that CW was into asphyxiation? Was that ever verified? If that is true, isn’t it too much of a coincidence that his family was strangled?

Makes me wonder if the act of strangling them was pleasurable for him.

(Ugh, I hate even typing that!)
There were some reports of that but we haven't seen any evidence that it is true. At least, I haven't.

Yes!!! Also, what a transformation from arrest to trial! Looked like a totally different person.

He said he felt alive with the mistress. I wonder if that’s how CW felt.

I found it fascinating that the jury found him guilty based on a small lie. He lied about when the affair started, but the date an image was created proved he lied.

One juror mentioned that if he lied about something so small, he was capable of lying about more important details.

We know CW is a proven liar.

It’s alarming how similar Chris Coleman and Chris Watts crimes are.

  • Strangled wife and kids;
  • Affair; and
  • Little to no emotion post-crime.
I highly recommend watching the 48 Hours episode on the Chris Coleman case.

Yes! I watched this just today, and have the link here for anyone who's interested.

It broke my heart watching him play with his sons hours before he murdered them while they slept.

Poor Sheri Coleman had two black eyes and fought back!

Makes me wonder what kind of defensive wounds SW had.

Oh, and Coleman’s parents! They did not want to believe their golden boy was capable of anything other than being a perfect husband. Except he wasn’t

When NUA rang CW at 12:10 he said he was at the Hudson site which is 45 minutes from home. IIRC he was in fact at Cervi 319 in Roggen which is close to Hudson. I’d love to know exactly what he was doing at the time – his normal day job or something else – because he didn’t arrive home until 1 1/2 hours later.

I’m suspicious about everything he said and did at that time. The porch interviews were bad enough, but how could anyone go to work hours after those horrific murders and even pretend it was just another work day. A psychopath, that's who.

Hello - I am a long time lurker on this thread - but my first post. This case has intrigued me in so many ways. This is MOO - What led him to killing his wife and little girls - I see Shanann as being the one in the relationship whom everyone likes - she is friendly, happy, has a little sass to her, she can light up a room. Chris is the one who is a follower, with a low self esteem. He liked the fact that a pretty girl with the friendly personality would date him then become his wife. He felt on top of the world. They have kids - he isn't the center of attention anymore but can deal with it. Then Shanann gets involved with Thrive - she is a top earner -( I sell for a MLM - I know what you got to do to make the big bucks, I don't make my biz my top income so I don't push the "fake it till you make it" way on social media) - now he feels like she isn't paying enough attention to him. He doesn't feel important - maybe he feels like all he is there for is to take care of the kids, he starts to resent them, Shanann and Thrive. He gets into shape and starts taking care of himself. He is getting attention from female coworkers - something that he never had before - and now he is liking it since Shanann isn't giving him the attention like he thinks he deserves. Shanann and the kids are gone to NC for 6 weeks - he is getting the attention from someone else (maybe even more than one person) - they come back from NC - he decides he doesn't want to live the family life anymore. I think it was premeditated... Why did he delete his FB profile a week before this all happened? He likes attention - I think that's what some people want that help with low self esteem. I know a few others have posted something similar to this. These are just my thoughts. My friend sells Thrive - she met Shanann at one of their getaways last year. She said she was one of the nicest people she has ever met. This whole case is sad. Hell divorce is an easier way out!

Another question is, I can imagine that she wanted to make this MLM business profitable and probably worked too much. But about paying no attention to CW? Maybe less, but not zero? Otherwise where did the pregnancy come from?

And it is not that she was paying no attention to the house, she posted about cleaning it.

And it is not that she was paying no attention to the kids, she was taking them to the swimming pool, she took them to NC. And also, if CW had the time for cheating, it implies he was not with the kids all the time.

What I think happened is that maybe she lessened the control at the same time when he lost weight. And CW started noticing how other people looked at him.

Perhaps the footprint, has been mentioned, as bones may have been required to be broken, in that bag.:(:(
My best guess is that he went to take SEVERAL bags at once out of the box, dropped them on the floor of the room he was working in, and either stepped on one or more while "working" when they were empty OR if they were the kind that need to be torn apart from perforation, he stepped on the next bag in the series to rip one off at a time, etc. I do not believe he would not be wearing his work boots at the site IMO. I also believe he would have wanted to wrap them up as soon as possible after the murders so as to handle/look at them the least as quickly as possible. They may have been double bagged in case one tore along the way IMO.

I have the question about the weight loss.

I am far from crediting the Thrive for it. If it were a potent weight-reducer, people would not need to promote it on their SM to no end.

I would like to know - maybe someone has noticed - how soon did CW lose weight?

It could have been diet/exercise (he seems buffed up). It takes some time. It could have been some potent prescribed appetite suppressant (that could explain a lot of psychological changes in CW), or a drug with side effects of lowered appetite. Or a combination of all three.

Does anyone have any idea of the timeline of his weight loss?

I'm sorry, Charlot but I'm not understanding what you mean. ? Probably not what?

Sorry! Probably he did not intend to bury them all together. I would rather believe he planned to dump them all into oil tanks.

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. :)

I’m wondering if they will release part, not all, of the autopsy reports? Perhaps only reveal cause of death, but nothing else (time of death, other injuries, sexual assault, etc.). Sort of like the Tibbetts case—they only said stab-like wounds, but no other info. Thoughts?

Oh, ugh. Are you thinking maybe he didn't want to carry them down the stairs and just gave the bag a shove with his foot? Maybe if he wrapped SW in plastic too I could see this happening. He was pretty strong and fully able to carry the girls though. He did lots of pushups with both of them on his back.

If he kicked those bags down the stairs and people still don't believe he killed them, I'LL kill myself.

CW’s treatment of the bodies is the thing that convinced me of his guilt in the whole matter. He put them in an oil tank through an 8” opening? What else did he do? Did he just kick the bodies downstairs rather than carrying them? I wouldn’t doubt anything now. The cruelty is overwhelming. If by some stretch they were not dead when they were placed in their ‘grave’ they would be soon after.

When a person is strangled, and it takes a few minutes for your brain to die and heart to stop, do you feel anything or any pain during that time?

mmmm, I can see your point, but, I think they would have looked at the tanks, the fact that they were almost full, and the small opening at the top, and thought, no. If he didn't confess, I dont think it would have crossed their minds. IMO

I think you're underestimating law enforcement. They definitely would have looked.

Do they always show interrogation videos during trial? Or does it differ by state?
