Oh I think some are way too committed to the narrative that she's a monster and he's an angel to do so. They'll probably claim he pled to spare her reputation.
Agree, I just don’t get it though

I thought it was very respectable of the media to state that both of their families were there, but no photographs were done prior to this. I think that says a lot about the media.

Bet his AP is happy she won't be exposed with testimony at trial.

GOOD. But he's probably crying cuz he knows he aint going anywhere for the rest of his sorry life.
And that baby-killers are not the most respected of inmates! :D

I am crying!

Dear PommyMommy,

I am crying at this as well.

Also I am crying at the tremendous loss of the sun filled futures he tore from each one of his absolutely beautiful little family.

I don't know, maybe someone else can clarify?

He can make a statement at sentencing. I don't care to hear what that baby killer says though.

Bet his AP is happy she won't be exposed with testimony at trial.
She's probably thinking that she had a lucky escape. Could have been her next.
MOO

And the public wasn't permitted to witness that moment? Why?

Agreed. If there is any downfall to this moment, it is that his privacy was protected when he had to plead guilty by way of "status conference".

Everything is 'real quick' with him.
CW: Shanann barely let me...It was real quick.

He became a suspect real quick, confessed (lied) real quick, got arrested real quick, pled guilty real quick.

It's a great day today. I'm feeling bittersweet, though I'm feeling more sad than happy.

Christopher Watts pleads guilty to murder of wife and daughters
Christopher Watts pleaded guilty to the murder of his pregnant wife and two young daughters today in exchange for prosecutors taking the death penalty off the table.

Watts, 33, pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder after deliberation in the deaths of his wife Shanann and two daughters Celeste and Bella in August, according to a news release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office.

Watts also pleaded guilty to unlawful termination of a pregnancy, and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.

The news release stated the plea deal was made with the agreement of the victims' family. In exchange for pleading guilty to all nine charges, prosecutors have agreed not to seek the death penalty.

The first-degree murder counts still carry a life sentence in prison.

Facts to know: Watts came out with a bullet proof best, Watts was crying in between each guilty plea, pleads guilty to all counts, Shanann Watts’ family was sitting in the front row. Sentencing is on November 19th.

I don't think his fear of the death penalty was his motivation for taking the plea. I think he didn't want all his dirty secrets to come out in the trial.

Taking this plea allows him to slink away into obscurity without his family or the rest of the world learning all the sick details of his crime (and everything that led up to it). His text messages, social media posts, the autopsy details, etc.

He knew they had so much evidence against him that he was going to be in prison for the rest of his life, trial or no trial.

That has to be. Because family annihilators are terrified of being unmasked and of their families finding out who they are.

But that's why I thought he wouldn't plead guilty to the girls' murders.

I guess the evidence was super damning.
