One thing I have been thinking is that no matter how someone is raised, there is something very defective in someone who is so detached from their own children that they can murder them-- actually plan it out, even. It's bizarre and what we all cannot get our brains around. In looking at the categories of Family Annihilators, Chris Watts, like Chris Vaughn and Scott Peterson and many others named, seemed to act not out of rage, not out of revenge, not out of shame, but in what gets boxed as a desire for freedom. Yet Scott Peterson was enamored of a woman who HAD A KID already and he seemed ready to take on the role of daddy for HER child! I have read that early in an affair some men act as if almost drugged, and the height of that effect/,out dangerous period is at 6 weeks or so... it seems insane that these men would wipe out their families for women they knew for a matter of weeks, but that was the case for SP, and I think for CW as well. I think he was obsessed with his latest AP and saw a life with the boss's daughter that thrilled him. Sorry this got so long, musing aloud because I think the AP may be a bigger factor here than it would seem from the amount of time the affair went on. Thanks for hearing this out, just MOO, speculation only.
I'm not convinced at all that he was that close with AP. He must have known her for years, I doubt he suddenly caught feelings that led him to annihilate his family.

Great thought.
Also eager to read any recommendations.

A book I loved is "A Cast of Killers" by Sidney D. Kirkpatrick. It has been around for a long time, and is available on Amazon. Kirkpatrick is an excellent writer and he tells the story of the 1922 unsolved murder of silent film director William Desmond Taylor in Los Angeles. He goes through the cast of suspects, why it was never technically solved by LE, who was really the killer, and why.

Remarkable WS podcast. I certainly agree about the murder podcast discussed. Here cw has already confessed, yet one of the hostesses felt compelled to make a dig at sw by sniping that cw was being told what to do (by the lawyers) as usual (sw having always told him what to do, being the implication). 33year old man.
I would be interested in seeing a profile of the flat out anti sw posters over there, I would bet 25-35, women, not in a relationship, envious of a gal who was a go getter. With beautiful kids, and a guy who supposedly was there for her.

I'm at a loss to the insinuation that's made about CW when defenders (like the murder podcast) speak about him. SW told him what to do and bossed him around...his attorney bossed him around and told him what to do...Poor Chris.

He *was* an adult, correct? He had freewill? He was able to hold down a job and apparently take care of himself enough to live on his own for at least 5 weeks. This was not a child who everyone ordered around.

At the very LEAST, he admitted to killing his wife and unborn child. This is no shrinking violet who had to be lead around through life by his nose.

I think that you would be surprised. I would bet that there are women of all ages who are sexist toward other women.

We don't know how long he had known her.

I don't know to what extent we're supposed to discuss that site, but since it was discussed in depth on the podcast, I'll point out the depths they go to in just one case, as an example. Re the christmas video, sw was " purposely teaching her children to be liars, because there is no Santa." Paraphrased. Cw was not, it was all sw. On and on. Ok that's all I will use as an example.

Great podcast, thank you so much to everyone involved!

I've got to say, I was reading over some of the much earlier threads and posts while listening to the discussion about mother/son and family annihilator dynamics and upbringing and it was fascinating stuff the 2nd time around. Really eye opening.

Upon reflection now that we know how this story plays out through the guilty plea and seeing the reactions of some of the public, especially hearing discussion about what the M.R.S. podcast person witnessed from CW's mom in the courtroom, I'm amazed by the textbook commonalities of FA. And those who love them. There is a definite book to be written.

Yes! He certainly did NOT, of all things, appear to be a shrinking violet in his media interviews!

What is the "murder podcast" that is being discussed where a hostess takes another swipe at SW? I'm absolutely fed-up with his apologists. They still haven't figured out a sociopath is able to create a distorted view for each of his audiences? Seriously, willful ignorance is a pet peeve of mine.

You know, Jennifer, many ppl have pointed out that every man they have spoken with regarding this case say .He did it. And this was before the confession. I don't know what could make women hate her so much. But they have orchestra conductors, so to speak, and a platform, and they have the green light because of that.

Excellent point! I remain distressed over the sheer number of women, not men, who so easily can tear SW to shreds out there. It is sobering and very sad to me.

Thank you, NuttMegg! I saw some references to the murder sesh rap podcast earlier this week but didn't bother to watch them since they didn't look like a reliable source to me. Hearing that they were still sniping on SW and adding fuel to the "Poor Chris" spiel assures I won't watch it! I do intend to listen to the WS podcast though. :)

Agree wholeheartedly. Just wanted to say that he has now admitted to killing his wife, unborn child and Bella and CeCe. Guilty as charged to every charge. He's done.
Now he will be lead around through life by the nose. Told when and what he can eat, when he can shower, what he will wear, who he can see, what he can have, when he gets clean clothes, what he can watch, what he can read, if he gets to leave his tiny little cell and when, the list goes on and on. His boss is now the correctional department thank goodness . jmo

I watched the Watt's Radio Discussion.
It is prior to plea, if I watched the correct one.
Thanks for the Popcorn, and I shared my ice cream and chips.:):):)
Gitana, as always was terrific.
I would also like to hear later, the 'life' CW will have in Prison, the conditions there after sentencing.

mRS had a producer inside the hearing room when CW pled guilty. That was most of the reference to that podcast, it wasn't a blow by blow critique of 13 episodes, just that there were no other insider reports available. Apparently cw mother actually spoke outloud during the hearing, attempting to tell cw what to do/not to do. Sounded bizarre, family had already been allowed 30 minutes with him beforehand, with pds present, iirc.

In Other WS News: The news here is reporting that the Boulder County DA has formed a 7 person team to review all of the cold cases from that county. Two of them are now active again but he won't say which too. The speculation was that it could be Jon Benet Ramsey and Sid Wells. Sorry to be OT for a minute but I find it enouraging to see them open up Cold Cases.

I am aware of that, but as an older woman, I know that women are their own worst enemies.
Mind you, I am not sure that that is all women's doing, but we ought to wake up to the fact that society judges women more harshly and should resist it.
