But, but, she knew everything about her son. Sissy knew about the affair from the beginning.
But mom and dad only had an "inkling." MOO

In a flurry of long calls and texts that night, Watts changed his story about his split with his wife.”

Well, now we know what CW was doing alone, all by himself, that first Monday night when he said the house was so empty and lonely without his family.

Which reminds me, there is almost certainly incriminating information on his phone from that night.

I’ll bet there are Google searches and God knows what else, that would be especially innapropriate in the aftermath of what occurred.

It wouldn’t look good for him if he was trolling for lovers, while his family was decomposing in dirt and oil.

The way I read that was that the flurry of phone calls was prompted by his interviews on Tuesday. MOO
Did I get that wrong? It looks to me like everything happened on the 13th until they mention the 14th. It’s late, maybe I’m wrong.

On Aug. 13, the Monday that Shanann and the girls disappeared, Watts texted Kessinger to say that he had been busy. The two chatted like normal throughout the workday.

About 3:45 p.m., Watts texted that his family was “gone,” she said. He told Kessinger that Shanann had taken the girls to a play date and had not returned. He seemed casual and didn’t show any emotion, she said.

Kessinger was worried about his missing family, but she didn’t want to make a big deal out of a situation that Watts seemed calm about. Then, news reporters showed up at the Watts’ family home.

“I was very confused why the media was at his house,” she said.

Later that night, Kessinger learned the full situation: Shanann’s wallet and purse were still in the house; Watts had left work early to let the police into his home; people had been trying unsuccessfully to contact Shanann all day.

“When I read the news, I found out he was still married and his wife was 15 weeks pregnant,” Kessinger said.

She was shocked at his lies and scared for the missing woman and children, she said.

“I thought, ‘If he was able to lie to me and hide something that big, what else was he lying about?’ ” she said.

In a flurry of long calls and texts that night, Watts changed his story about his split with his wife.

Kessinger barraged Watts with questions: Were there signs someone had forced themselves into the home? Were the daughters’ car seats still there? Was one of the girls’ EpiPens still in the house?

Watts didn’t show any emotion during their conversations and tried to change the subject away from his missing family, Kessinger said.

“It seemed off,” Kessinger said.

Liking googling “taking the 5th amendment” by an Australian wife murderer in 2012. He presented to 2 different Drs with scratch marks on his face the day after murdering his wife to verify that a “razor”had done it. He gave one female Dr his Real Estate business card and stated if ever she needed a help with real estate please contact him:mad:
He’s in jail, life sentence...unfortunately only 15 years. The legislation has now changed and it is 20 years.

Yes, it's late. I'm going to have to read this again in the morning, lol! Night. :p

She bizarrely downplayed it as well, saying that it was an “emotional relationship” to begin with, and became something more when Shanann was away.

Because that makes it more acceptable or something.
Again -- it clearly was SW's fault for leaving him home alone! However, It did make me wonder if she's talked to the AP.

No! Stay up and watch the extended interview! It’s worth it!

I think it’s quite possible her name would be released when they release the evidence. Media has probably respected her desire to stay quiet for the sake of the investigation. Once her name was released they would be vultures, with news vans parked in front of her house and reporters w/microphones stalking her at work. By giving that interview she denied them the possibility of badgering her into an attempted scoop.

Plus she probably doesn’t know exactly what evidence would be released and it would be awful if her name was released and details of the affair, but not the lies he told her and that she contacted police before his arrest. At least she got her full story out.

As someone else pointed out, the timing was genius. She’ll have a lousy 3 days but come Monday the press will have more information to chew on amd she will blessedly be old news.

I don't think too much will be released about her at the hearing. After all, she cooperated with the investigation and her testimony might have helped persuade CW to confide. She is not CW; and I believe her name will be somehow protected.

NK might have also provided her version of the story to quench the public's curiosity thirst if not too much is said about her on Monday.

Just like scott Peterson. He didn't think Amber would figure out his dead wife was actually missing DURING the time he was dating her?

I think CW killed his kids because he wanted to be free. It's hard to have a sexy affair when two children are crying for attention and for their mama.
I think so to. He had all that time without them and then had them that weekend and it was a reality check for him. As disgusting as it is to say, I think he didn’t want the hassle. MOO

Thanks for posting that! It provides so much more insight into his mother and her thinking, than those tiny interview clips ever could.

Her hatred of Shanann comes across loud and clear.

She paints Chris as a victim of Shanann, saying that he was always on edge around her.

She says that she and Shanann never got along, and when he mentioned divorce to her, she thought that “he had finally seen the light.”

She does seem open to the possibility that he could have done this, but makes an excuse for him, saying that something must have been wrong with him (mentally), for that to have been the case.

She bashes the attorneys, implying that they didn’t provide him with an adequate defense.

She complains about her being unable to communicate with Chris, saying that things would have gone differently had she been allowed to speak with him prior to the plea (thank God she didn’t).

I can’t say this enough, but she still can’t comprehend that he’s a grown 🤬🤬🤬 man, who can make decisions for himself.

She knows that she will be free to talk to Chris after sentencing, but bemoans the fact that it will be too late.

She can’t understand the plea, as the death penalty isn’t used in Colorado, and death row may actually be better than prison.

She says that when she did speak with him, it was through glass, via telephone. She starts to say that he cried during their discussion of the memorial service for the children, but then changes it to say that he looked like he was going to cry.

I’m sure.

Basically, no matter what, Chris isn’t fully responsible for this crime.

Christopher Watts girlfriend Nichol Kessinger speaks about Frederick murders

"When Watts went to visit family in North Carolina at the end of July, he called to tell her that his divorce was final, Kessinger said."

This is what might have happened. CW went to NC to discuss the divorce, but either got scared to raise this theme with SW, or realized she'd be fighting for her family.

He had to balance two sides of it; one, he truly wanted the divorce, and two, it had to be the divorce without scandals, not to scare off NK.

It was difficult; Shanann, as I can imagine her, was the fighter. The first time any of her friends would mention NK, I can imagine her calling NK and telling the truth; that she and CW didn't plan to divorce, that they planned to have the third kid. And that would have been the end of it.

So once CW called to tell NK the divorce was final, and IRL, he never spoke to SW about it, SW's fate was sealed.

I still don't understand why he decided to kill the girls, but maybe we shall never find it out.

She said he wasn't wearing a wedding ring, though. He could have told everybody at work that they were getting a divorce for all we know. I think he lied to everyone - family, friends, co-workers... MOO
I worked in the oil industry for many years. I was an office based worker and saw field workers on occasion but there are so many contractors and staff that I never knew any information about them. In fact I was once asked on a date by a worker who had a fiancé back home that no one knew about. So I’m inclined to believe the AP, especially a company the size of anadarko. MOO

ETA - I think she could have found out had she wanted to, especially with how active SW was on social media. I imagine we are not getting the full picture (she does have an attorney) just enough to exonerate her of any wrong doing/collusion. IMO

She also said his attorneys told her the decision to plead was made by Chris. They would have continued to fight for him, but he didn’t want to.

Yeah. But Chris can’t think for himself and there’s no way he could make a decision of that magnitude without mommy’s input.

The judge should throw out the plea, and just go with what mommy thinks is best.

Or something.

That’s what I have thought all along. I think the girls were already gone and Shan’ann saw them on the monitor and thought they were asleep and then went to bed. And the coward attacked her there. Then wrapped her in the sheet and so on.
Personally I would go in and kiss my kids after being away, a glance at a baby monitor wouldn’t be enough. I don’t know if they were alive or dead before Shanann returned home from her trip. I do think CW and SW had some sort of an argument that ended with her on the couch that her phone was found hidden in. I agree with the OP that said they think she hid her phone

You know, I am now beginning to think that he killed the girls for the mere technicality.

He had very little time to do anything, because NK could have guessed about him lying to her about the divorce. So he had to do it within the slot between the family returning from NC and SW coming back from AZ.

In my opinion, CW made the plan to kill SW upon her coming back from AZ and bury her at Andarco property, or maybe he planned to dismember her and put her in oil tank. It makes more sense as the plan.

However, it is impossible to leave the kids at home unattended and drive your wife's corpse to the burial site. The girls might wake up, and start screaming, waking up the neighborhood. For the obvious reason, you can't use a babysitter, either.

So the girls had to be killed and buried with her.

I am now thinking that he planned to kill and dismember SW and push her into the oil tank, too, and about the girls, he was postponing the decision till the last moment. However, SW’s plane was delayed. That left him with very little time. So he corrected the plan, the girls were killed first. And then there was no time to do something with CW’s body so she was buried in a grave.

I think that it is very important info that his AP was his boss's daughter. I am sure that helped stoke his interest in her. What better way to move up the company ladder than to marry the daughter of the owner?
Wow! Very interesting theory. Didnt know she was the bosses daughter? Where was that disclosed?

Good grief, Cindy watts causes my blood pressure to rise. I don’t blame her at all but she seems like she might be under the influence. She has a slightly thick tongue and trouble finishing a thought like my mom does after she takes Xanax.
But, wow. I wanted to grab through the screen and yell back at her every time she said, “how did this happen to him? Why did this happen to him?” It happened because of him for crying out loud. Chris is not the victim!!!!!!
And, she clearly does not think there was anything wrong with Chris murdering his pregnant wife. She hates her so much that she almost acts like that was the good part of the night.
Grrrrr... now I wish I had a Xanax.
Tl;dr... rambling.
