Except the DA says no, he only made one approach and that was the plea that was accepted.
Well somewhere I heard that there were 2 or 3, maybe they weren't technically called pleas, but heck, I'm positive I heard that the defense "started" making pleas or approaches, or initiatives, whatever, right after the autopsy was released.

I think the DA just may not have wanted to get into the details. It's the only possibility I can think of, or he just forgot.

It's interesting that you mention that. Most people who have affairs are sneaky. To actually just go spending money off a joint account, knowing your wife will be informed seems completely opportunist, self centered and completely lacking in foresight.

This behaviour definitely could be considered narcassistic
"completely opportunist, self centered and completely lacking in foresight" - describes his every move throughout this whole ordeal.

You are right, defense approached the State and that has been made clear. One of the plea offers almost certainly had to include an Alford as an element. Since they were tendering the offers, they were going to start high and work backwards.

BBM: This!! It can be hard to understand if you’ve (generic you) never encountered people* like this. They can & will continue to lie & lie and gaslight even when there is stark, irrefutable evidence staring them in the face, or even twist it so it’s not “their fault”.

(* I was married to one & it took me far too long to “see the light”.).
Yes, this (and me too). It is unfathomable until you have experienced it. The bare faced lies that these people are unashamed of. My ex was totally unembarrassed to be caught out in a lie. He literally didn't care and would just try another tactic. Because to people like them, there is no shame in lies, lies are a tool to get what they want. Therefore, lies are not bad/shameful in their mind.

I view people 'like this' as a lesser developed type of human (seriously!), it is like their brain has not fully developed from animal to human. They are merely interested in fulfilling their needs - the same way an animal is driven instinctiviely to fulfill its needs - 'these' people are driven to fulfill their needs at any cost. And needs usually equal satisfaction and satiation. In CW's case I think that his need was to be with NK. And SW wasn't going to go away quietly and make it easy for him. So, he had to take action. Eventually, he'd have tired of NK too and would have had another need. But he might not have killed her, I think this because the killing wasn't the purpose for him, the killing was the means to the end. And the end was getting his needs fulfilled.
This assessment comes from my own unfortunate experience - so I am very biased so could be totally wrong.

We don’t know it was a joint account.

We also don’t know exactly what Shannan knew or suspected, nor what steps (setting up alerts etc) she may have taken...

I will say, from personal experience, and I’m trying hard not to “project” my personal experience, that a man like CW may not have cared or even thought about this in the way we do.

Minor (to his mind) details like that just wouldn’t matter. IMO, IME.

I'd love the answer to that too. I think there's more to it. I listed to Levi's podcast and wow, his guest speaker (sorry forgotten her name) alluded to NK knowing more about CWs family status. Eg SW being pregnant and still being married.

I'd say she feels embarrassed about that now.. Which is understandable. Sadly a crazy learning lesson for her about getting involved with a married man.
As a feminist, I've worked hard not to disparage NK. I've made several comments wherein I stated things like, "I have no doubt that she fully cooperated with LE." In light of new information, I need to back off that stance without getting petty or personal.

I think the DA did backtrack on something he'd said earlier, and that was that the plea deal was the first attempt made by the defense to settle (incorrect terminology I know). I'm absolutely certain that there was a rejected plea before the full guilty pleas, because I remember wondering if the first plea was insanity.

Except the DA says no, he only made one approach and that was the plea that was accepted.
I caught that too Tortoise. Maybe the initial time the defense approached the DA's office about a plea, the DA was not willing to even entertain the discussion. That unless it was a guilty plea to every charge, there was nothing to talk about. So maybe he didn't even consider it an offer. Just speculating. He mentions this at about 13:20 in the press conference following the status hearing where CW agreed to the plea.

I don't think the DA was trying to mislead in his comments following the sentencing. I think he just meant that first time the defense reached out, there was no offer on the table that they were even going to read and consider. jmo.

A question that can be added to your list is: "Why didn't SW, Bella, and CeCe have on pants?" The autopsy results indicate that all three had on just tops and underwear---not nightgowns---just tops: a butterfly top on Bella, a T-shirt for CeCe, and a T-shirt and bra for SW. No pants means all three were not wearing shorts or pants to bed, or each had them removed post-mortem. Just think this is a bit odd for all three. Was it to enable getting them down the oil-tank hatch more easily? If so, why then would SW not have on pants?

I don't think this is significant either. My two oldest children sleep in nothing but their underwear (boy and girl). They claim they get too hot with any kind of pajamas on. So it isn't unusual to me if children are in a t-shirt. Plus, Bella is described as being in a nightgown. Someone on FB posted a picture of her in a nightgown that is similar in description to the one she was wearing that horrible night. Very chilling.

Regarding the rumor that Shanann changed the girls school because the NK's children went there ... or actually any rumor about Shanann knowing the identity of the mistress can easily be disputed by asking yourself this question. If you were expecting would you pick a name for the baby that in any way resembled the name of the mistress ? Nico Lee is eerily close to Nicole. There is no way Shanann knew who the mistress was and I believe it was CW that chose that name.

The baby's name debate has never struck me. Nico has been rising as a popular name (I even saw it on a list of "hipster baby names" well before this case). Lee is Chris' middle name and it's common for people to use the FOBs (father of baby) middle name for first or middle name. Nickole Atkinson is her best friend, I've assumed. NiCkOLE. There are so many more possible reasons they chose this name rather than it being CWs nod to his mistress. MOO

We have to work to keep our bias out and still allow ourselves to be informed by our experiences with flawed individuals. Once you've been there you gain an insight and instict for when someone is FOS and a totally selfish, self-motivated individual. I saw a lot of that in CW.

For our list of questions @PommyMommy. I'm curious how NUA knew SW missed her doctor's appointment. Did she call the office and ask when she never heard back from SW?

What have I missed about NK? I’m actually having to work today to make up being online past 2 days!

Nothing that I'm aware of. Still against TOS to bash/sleuth/etc her

He didn't say that. He said that he was approached twice. The first offer was rejected.

"Then you have the cold, callous way he described how he held them up by their wrists and put them down feet first, and knew Bella's tank was more full than Celeste's because of the sound the splash made," Rourke said. "Are you kidding me? Those are your kids."

‘About as big as it gets:’ Gravity of lifetime sentence for Watts not lost on Weld DA

Good article. Not surprised that he didn't call anyone.

"The day he hit the jail, he tried to call his dad once, but for some reason the call didn't go through," Rourke said. "He didn't make another phone call. We checked everyday to listen to his jail calls. He didn't call anyone."

What do you mean? He never stated there was only one offer?
