I q

I wondered if the baby monitor sends an alert to Shanann that there is noise in the room that caused her to text Chris and ask for pictures, or if she tried to look at them from her phone and he had turned it off. This would have been when she was out of town earlier that night. Long ago I thought one of her friends said she would check on her kids using her phone.
I bet he turned it off. Can’t find that in the docs though—just that they took the device.

In one of the reports they talk about inventory found in his work truck — there were childrens clothes, shoes and at least one stuffie. I don’t think they mentioned a blanket but I know he claimed he left the blankets and stuffies together. Wonder what he was doing w/the clothes and shoes?
These items were found in the Lexus.

Page 711:
Vehicle 2- White, 2016 Lexus Rx 350, CO License 528-ZJV, VIN JTJBZMCA5G2011601.

The vehicle was parked indoors at a large warehouse located at 247 3rd Street along with several other vehicles.

The vehicle was observed to be in good shape with no visible defects or serious damage.

The SUV was unlocked, however the doors, windows, trunk and hood had been sealed with evidence seals and were observed to be intact and unbroken.

The interior of the vehicle was relatively clean and uncluttered.

In the rear seat passenger area were two car seats affixed and secured in place. Girls’ clothing and shoes were noted on the floor along with small toys and a stuffed animal.

He also would have been the one to get them ready for bed. SW was out of town.

It seems CW conveniently can't remember a lot of basic things during these interviews.

Moo
He can’t remember, he lies, or maybe he just doesn’t notice or care what “those girls” have on their clothes and shoes. I know sometimes that’s a man thing we’ve talked about (not noticing).

I have a feeling CW grew up enduring lots of "training lessons" as a child. Shanann was quoted as saying Cindy Watts wasn't "very nurturing" to Chris growing up in the document as well.

I don't know what went wrong in his childhood, so I would not blame it at the moment. But I can not sympathize with his family anymore. I could also see him having some kind of mental illness or a personality disorder. It's not a "common behavior" to wipe out your entire family, without zero remorse or emotions at all (while you were prior to this very affectionate, caring and described as a loving parent/spouse by many people, including your own wife) because you fell in love with another person. How can somebody change within a few weeks so dramatically? This seems just odd to me. And I believe it seemed odd to Shannan and everybody she told about it, as well. So I strongly believe, that there is much more behind the surface we just didn't get to know about Chris Watts, whether he played a role a long time or he just can focus on (and love) one person at the same time, while all the other people fall just behind this "love" and get unimportant to him.

haven't seen anyone mention yet LE finding a makeshift bed in the basement.
chris admitted he slept there Thursday night.
when shanann has been begging him totouch and kiss her I cant imagine she banished hi down there.
why would he do that??
even if he doesn't love her 'no more' who doesnt wanna sleep in the master suite if welcomed to??????

creating drama for the sake of creating drama....wonder where he gets that from.

Probably used to "punish" SW.

I'm sure there was a lot of gaslighting going on over the years.

From the previous (closed) thread.

My opinion. NK is a calculating, money-conscious person anyhow. She probably was in love with CW, but now another side of hers shows.

I still feel that NK somehow suited CW more and that his marriage with SW was going downhill before NK. He was not interested in Thrive or sales. Ironically, the kids were probably the thing keeping this marriage together, so he decided to have one more , at the time, when emotionally, he was on a divergent course from SW.

It is a wrong decision per se, but in this situation, it proved to be deadly.

Look at it from NK's standpoint. She comes across as a money-conscious person. She is more educated than CW. She probably could make more out of CW, professionally, make him take some classes to advance. (In contrast to others, I would guess that CW's academic IQ was high enough, and he was technically bright.)

And he is good-looking, and he makes her happy. And her friends are getting married.

Divorcing a family with two kids and debts is difficult, but divorcing a family with the third one on the way would be financially crippling. And NK wants own kids, meaning, more expenses.

This is what it in essence came up to. The real barrier to CW's happiness - and he was obsessed with NK, as I can see now, like 8 years ago he was obsessed with SW - was pregnant SW. I don't know under what exact circumstances he killed her, but it seems to me that he accumulated hatred to her, and it was enough.

The same question I always ask myself, why kill the kids, I still don't understand, but either it had to do with the fact that NK was not prepared to be a stepmom, or he simply thought that it was easier to explain the disappearance of three people? Or perhaps killing three would have gotten rid of more problems, in his mind?

It is ugly as ugly can be.

Legally, NK is not guilty. Even if the affair was the catalyst, CW was an adult man, and these were his kids, it was his family. It was his decision, and these were his hands on their throats.

However, I think that morally, it is wrong for NK to profit from any book.

(That she is not going to be true is obvious from the article. Everything about that article is untrue).

It was wrong for Amber Frey to benefit, either, but at least Amber Frey was crucial in solving the SP's case. She was the critical witness. Amber taped their conversations. She did everything to help.

Here, we have a person who prolonged the investigation by deleting the messages.

In light of this, is there a law prohibiting the person who advised CW to pawn his "disappeared" wife's ring to profit from a book?
I am really starting to believe that CW was starting to resent the kids attitude towards him. It annoyed them when they screamed for their Mom when she wasn’t around. It annoyed hin that they seemed to prefer Grampa over him in NC. After all he did for them. Why bother going broke and losing the love of his life for those ungrateful brats. I think he had that thought and nurtured it until he was ready for them to just be gone.

Thanks! I just got finished reading about 50 pages of all that. I think Nickol was intimidated by the fact that he was married, or of Shanann, even though she did not know her personally. She seemed to ask a lot about her when they were having their affair. I think she was insecure, and had a history of choosing men who lied and treated her badly. This was alluded to in an interview with someone who knew her, maybe a co- worker, can't remember now. They said she had past boyfriends who lied to her, and she wondered what was wrong with her because she always seemed to pick the wrong person. She got that Right! Chris was beyond a doubt the worst so far!

So I think what she was doing was testing him, to see if he truly wanted to leave his wife. She was likely trying to protect her self from being burned. She may have suggested he work on the marriage to see what the outcome would be. Or to see if that's what he really wanted. At any rate hopefully she has learned a lesson and will learn to recognize the signs next time! What a nightmare. Imo
On this one she hit the jackpot of picking the wrong person.

I have my doubts he actually slept down there. Seeing the bed downstairs would help NK believe his lies, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to fond both CW and NK’s DNA on that bed, regardless of what she told LE.

Discovery Page 1278: Trent Bolte.
I initially dismissed it as hogwash, but after reading TB's statement to the FBI I can't help feeling a ring of truth in his description of CW and his sick behavior.
What do y'all think?

moo

I thought it was hogwash too. But for the fact that this guy came and was interviewed about a quadruple murder investigation. Would he make up a totally false story about an affair, and tell it to the FBI while being formally interviewed?

The FBI would have done some basic checks, on the specifics, where , when etc. And this guy wouldn't know if CW was even in town or not, on the dates he described, if they didn't really know each other.

And the FBI could easily check the texts and communications they guy put forward. So I think it is probably true.

If you don't wont to get "burned" or "lied to", than please don't pick a married man!
She should have refused this relationship from day one - for her own sake.

The affair was reported to LE by Anadarko early on the 15th (discovery page 580):

During the interview with SA CODER, WATTS denied having any knowledge regarding the whereabouts of his wife and children. WATTS was also adamant there was no infidelity in his marriage of any kind. SA CODER asked CHRIS if he would be willing to take a polygraph and CHRIS agreed. CHRIS stated he had to pick up his father, later identified as RONNIE WATTS (Age 62) from the airport early the next morning, so the polygraph was scheduled for Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. CHRIS then left the Fredrick Police Department for the evening.

It should be noted that approximately 3 hours before the polygraph was scheduled to begin (8:00 A.M.), I received a phone call from Anadarko Regional Security Manager, TONY HUSKEY. HUSKEY advised he had reviewed CHRIS’ computer network traffic and it was possible CHRIS had started a relationship with an Anadarko contracted employee. HUSKEY advised he located emails between CHRIS and the contracted employee, who he identified as NICHOL “NIKKI” KESSINGER (Age 30; ). HUSKEY said it appeared a relationship between CHRIS and KESSINGER started around June of 2018. HUSKEY further explained KESSINGER was on the “Geo Sciences” side of the company and helped survey land. HUSKEY explained CHRIS and KESSINGER worked out of the same office in Platteville, Colorado. HUSKEY advised he would be forwarding the emails to law enforcement as soon as it was cleared by their legal department. The emails received by HUSKEY are attached to this report.

Oops. That was the Lexus? I wonder if he moved them the night he was seen driving the Lexus and stopping at his truck for 3 minutes.

This is how I feel too. He comes across as very annoyed with them.
Referring to them as "bossy" - the same phrase used against SW by the entire Watts family - really upset me.

This might be a stupid question, but would there be evidence....anything?.....that they would have found (on devices or anywhere else) that they can choose not to include in the discovery documents? Or must everything they have be included in those docs?

Legally, to use it in court, it has to be in the docs and provided to the defense. Prosecution can not introduce evidence at trial that has not been disclosed.

However I don’t think they would have to release everything to the public. And we have been spared certain private pictures.

So do you all think Chris's mom turned him off to Shanann? If she had said we love Shanann and are so grateful for the grandchildren you both gave us, maybe this never would have happened.

  • #256

I'm thinking he turned it off so he wouldn't forget later. She was walking on eggshells with him and was most likely afraid to just come out and say, "Why is the monitor off?"

Nup. I think he found reasons to resent Shanann after he shacked up with Nichol. But prior to that he seemed to just let it slide that Cindy was a cow. MOO (lol)

Agree. Like I mentioned earlier today, these types of people keep making very poor choices. And it builds and builds and keeps happening until the sh*t really hits the fan one day.

Ultimately I think CW just didn't want his life anymore and wanted a new life. Hes a very disturbed individual.

I'm sure mom fanning the flames didn't help any though.

I think that if there were some evidence directly incriminating someone else in the killings, by law, they'd have to act on it.

However, if all the evidence concerned further incriminating CW, then, by providing it, NK would have been granted full immunity from prosecution.

Probably such a deal had been reached between the prosecution and her lawyer, but then she deleted her messages, and now the prosecution is, naturally, upset. It is like she didn't hold to her end of the bargain.

One of the reasons they dumped all the documents. JMO.
