I am surprised there were no interviews with Chris’ mother and sister. Why is that? Clearly they were never formally interviewed. I don’t think those records would have been left out. Perhaps they refused interviews but you’d think there would be a record of that too.

Perhaps it was realized, early on, the lies are embedded in the Watts' family, and it would be a waste of valuable time.

One of NK's friends said she had poor choice in men, IIRC so much that the friend didn't ask for many details, and not the name of the latest guy, CW. I think NK was the first woman he encountered (after Mom, Sis, and Shan'ann) who was not stronger than he, and pliable enough to do anything he wanted. Does anyone else feel like this could be the key to this case? I am pulling this from the 1960 page of evidence they released a couple of days ago- she states she never told CW or anyone about it but i’m sure at some point she mentioned something about not wanting kids or a man that had kids.... i’m just thinking outloud here. Maybe Chris took this and said well i have to eliminate my family for a freah start with NK

I questioned nichol about mentioning the children and not liking that chris had children. Nichol said she was not sure he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and she did not like that he already had children as watts has already done everything in reference to marriage and children. She talked about having her own life with a man who has not been married and does not have kids.

I literally got chills and was like is this the key to the case? Geez i’m about halfway through this rabbit hole of 1960 pages! Thank you for posting the link that is iPhone friendly because i was having to scroll through all the pages starting at 1 about every 2 hours when it would reload!

IMO, she didn't see her babies dead as suggested further upthread because there were no defensive injuries, i.e. he probably killed her once she fell asleep. So she also probably checked on them before going to sleep because that's what moms do when they've been away from their little ones. I'm thinking he must have killed her, then the children.

But...he could have had the gravesite somewhat prepared for "some day."

My thoughts right now are that he planned to murder his family (or at least fantasized about it enough to think it through), but that particular night suddenly became "the night" to do it.

He had to have known that she would not fit through the hatch - so if this was planned, he had to figure out what to do with the body in advance. Even if he didn't prepare the ground in advance, perhaps he knew in his mind where he would bury her when the time came to do that. What a risk he took in the timing - what if it took longer than anticipated and he was in the midst of digging when co-workers arrived? They said he was sweaty but otherwise normal.

While I lean toward he planned the murders for "some day," I'm willing to be convinced that the whole plan was to murder them that particular night. I'm trying to piece that together - would love to hear what others think about how specific his plans were.

I have only followed posts here, so I may not have the whole story.

But I heard mentioned that her wedding ring was found. In the United States, people very much differentiate wedding rings and engagement rings. The engagement ring has the diamonds and the expensive stones.

Did they ever find the engagement ring?

That’s my thinking as well. Even if he assumed that she wouldn’t check on the kids, that’s just an insane risk to take.

No defensive wounds tells us that she never saw this coming, and she would have fought like hell had she found the kids dead.

Shanann represented the biggest threat to his success, so she’s the one he would have targeted first.

If he failed there, then his plan would have gone horribly awry.

earlier in the thread someone mentioned that they dug holes to go to the bathroom on the sites. he could have used an old one of those, but widened it a bit. it wouldn't have taken as long as digging a brand new one.
