We’re trying to gather a complete picture of everything that occurred here.

The murders are obviously the most important part, but there was a calculated and coordinated effort to mislead the public here.

Some of it was done in the light of day (tv interviews), and some of it was done through the anonymity of social media and the internet in general.

To understand CW, you must look at his family. Likewise, to understand what Shanann went through, you have to focus on them as well.

They are an important part of this, and their actions can certainly offer some clarity as to the entire picture.

agreed. CW wasn't just born a sociopath his upbringing contributed to it.

I don't believe her about this call. She doesn't seem to have said it to LE. It feels like she was saving face in public...pretending she thought he was more separated from his wife than he was.

She told CBI on 8/16 that CW told her he wanted to try to work things out while he was in NC with his family. And that it was Shanann that didn't want to.
That is quite an inconsistency from him telling her the divorce was finalized during that same time frame.

Trying to catch up, sorry to duplicate.

I would love some opinions on the Rzucek family Wrongful Death lawsuit that was just filed against CW.

Shanann Watts' family files wrongful death lawsuit against son-in-law Christopher Watts

I’m not an attorney, but I’m guessing this is the only way they can crack into the 401k Chris was contributing to since that was part of the marital assets. Otherwise, the 401k would remain with the surviving spouse.

The house equity is more straight-forward. But then it’s subject to creditors.

The perfect recipe being raised by Cindy end Ronnie. It is interesting to think about those possibly born with the sane sociopathy that Chris has but because they had a stable balanced enviornment to grow up in they leaned to develop empathy, emotions. I don’t even know if that is possible.

I can't get the thought out of my head that the entire family, Chris his mother and his sister and his father annihilated her. They all did.

and now after she's dead smear her reputation.
Abusive people are not content with walking away they actually do want to destroy, annihilate and erase their victims. Winner takes it all, is their mentality. It's important we continue to fight for victims rights at Websleuths.

Well unless NK knew by Tuesday at noon that they were all dead, I think she acted selfishly and carelessly in not making contact with LE immediately. She discovered Shanann was pregnant - if she can be believed about not knowing this already - and therefore she had just discovered that CW was lying to her, lying to Shanann, lying about wanting them all to come back, and most likely lying about not knowing anything about his family's disappearance. I can't think that deleting a few racy pictures is more important than the lives of these beautiful children and a wife who by that time obviously knew nothing about any divorce, or than getting the most likely suspect into custody. How she could prioritize how she looked over the search for this family will never make sense to me. That is 24 hours of police time wasted. Had he not killed them but chained them up somewhere and left them to die she would not be getting this pass. IMO.

And didn't she also have a "houseguest" that Monday nite, "Jim---"? Perhaps CW called 5 times but she never answered? Busy or asleep? Sorry, after a few days I've finally arrived at an active thread here. Between trying to catch up, read the discovery docs and working i am terribly behind and I apologize if I be misstated or repeated anything. Most of the discovery revelations I have gotten here. Can't read it all and try to keep up.

NICHOL recalled next talking to CHRIS on Monday, August 12. She said she did not hear a lot from CHRIS that day. He texted and said it was a busy day. Nothing he said was alarming that day. She said she left work at 3 pm according to her timecard. She returned home to a good friend, JIM (she refused to provide his last name and said he does not know anything about this event and does not know CHRIS). JIM was her house guest on Monday. She said JIM is a very close friend but they do not date each other.

@MassGuy - I haven't been on since yesterday's thread, but in response to not finding mention of the hair found in the trash bag - it's in the discovery doc on page 1579, a lab report. It's listed as item 8.3. (Not caught up on threads so not sure if it was discussed further). Took me a minute to find it again!

Thanks. Makes sense.

OK - but NK had no information relevant to where the wife or kids were

So from her perspective, in the context of a missing persons investigation I can see why she might not have acted until wednesday

What we don't know is whether she acted at all. e.g. was it the police that found her?

The brain bleach had been applied to the Watts family, as we continually discover: how can their actions be explained.
MOO.

Generational abuse/toxic dysfunctional family structures.

This case has been so bewildering to me and grabbed my attention like no others. I feel like he must have done it but he's just a strange case to me. It seems even now he's just passively going along with things like he (seemed to me in the videos) to do with Shanann, and according to her, his parents? Like, I don't understand the reaching the plea bargain so fast if the death penalty was no real threat anyway? (which even the prosecutor has seemed to indicate in interviews?) .

I don't know if he's just trying to protect himself and others from more embarrassment? Which seems to be a major motivator with him.

Why suggest pawning the ring? Shanann was just only missing at this point. I think she knew more.

(If I ever go missing, I don't want my husband to pawn my wedding ring.)

That's my fear...

C'mon mrjitty - she didn't know where they were but she could still help the police do their jobs as soon as she knew what this was smelling of. We don't know how she came forward but it sure wasn't soon enough.

IMO it was because NK was the "other woman" and thought she had "won" when SW "left" and left her ring behind. NK claimed in her media interviews she had encouraged CW to "work on his marriage" after she saw pictures of the family but we all know that was a bunch of baloney-- she had searched out their social media a long time ago. She continued to see him after she knew he was married with kids. She probably wanted to believe CW loved her more than his wife and she wanted to think the marriage really was broken up. NK might have even gotten to know CW well enough to know he might try to recycle the ring and give it to her. So her first thought was to tell him to pawn it and get some money and then they would go have fun somewhere with that money and CW would forget all about SW. She was a typical mistress IMO with hate in heart for the wife and no respect for the relationship that had just ended (CW probably did his part to build up the lies about how awful his married life had been too). I'm not convinced NK had any knowledge CW had murdered SW but it all looks very bad on NK now that "pawn it" was her first thought. MOO.

The word that comes to mind is heartless.
Not someone I'd like to know. On the other hand, SW seemed like a genuinely loving person.

CW did tell LE that he was crazy about her. Never felt that way about anyone before. Ehh, maybe he was lying about that, too. Who knows?
Oh yes, she was so special. @@. She couldn’t hold a candle to Shanann.

NICHOL said she questioned CHRIS what he had done and he said he had done nothing. NICHOL texted CHRIS and said if he had done something bad he was going to ruin his life and her life. CHRIS responded saying he had not hurt his family. NICHOL said this was their last text message on Tuesday.

At this time NICHOL started to think CHRIS had hurt his family as he lied to her and SHANANN had not returned (she does not have car, purse, epi pen). NICHOL said she was scared because she did not know who CHRIS was anymore.

NICHOL recalled another conversation on August 13, 2018 (Monday). CHRIS told NICHOL, SHANANN had left her wedding ring at the house. CHRIS asked NICHOL how much she thought the ring wasworth. She responded by telling him to pawn it.

He said hewas going to get the ring appraised. CHRIS also mentioned North Carolina and he wanted the separation and previously had said SHANANN wanted the separation.

NICHOL said she saw the interview with CHRIS and said his eyes looked different and it looked like he did not have a soul. She said he looked like a different man.

NICHOL spoke with her father about the situation and they decided to come to the police. She said she wished she had come in earlier but it took her a few days to process what was going on.

I'd like to compare the handwriting on it to his handwritten police statement, but I've not seen the actual letter.
