I wonder why did Shanann decide to leave the husband home alone for 6 weeks? Was it common for her to spend 6 weeks in NC in summer, or was it something new? And if it was, perhaps it signified some change in their relationship?

6 weeks is a little bit too long.
It was 5 weeks, CW joined them in the sixth week. Shanann wanted her family and his to spend quality time with the girls.

We don’t know, but it does clearly state, “The affair was only discovered after Kessinger contacted your affiant stating she had information regarding this investigation.”
I am thinking that the e-mail messages done on the Anadarko server indicated that a relationship might be happening, but this was speculatory. An admission by Kessinger would confirm the speculation.

@curiouscat, Reading the last portion of the discovery where all of the texts, phone calls and actions between CW, SW and NK were perfectly laid out in a timeline really made me see the big picture. There is a ton of information in the discovery and many pages are repetitive. It is a lot to digest. That last portion, along with the interviews with CW's family and friends, and the interviews/polygraph with CW were the most riveting for me.
You've tagged the wrong poster I think. It's ..chat rather than ..cat.

Yeah I see what you're saying I admit I just find it hard not to look for a reason. It doesn't have to be a good reason, just any reason that would tip someone who already had it in them to crack over the edge. I agree it's never going to make sense or be justified. I find myself wishing they would find out he had a tumor or something to explain it because I don't want to believe seemingly caring parents can snap like that. And didn't even Shanann's parents think he was a caring father up until then?

I am not trying to “defend” him with that. Even in the extremely unlikely chance that she did kill the girls and he snapped and killed her, his behavior and lack of apparent distress about it after would still absolutely boggle the mind. There's something really off with him and maybe I'm so curious I have some “on the spectrum” type people in my life.

Like way back in the thread someone mentioned something about a neighbor hearing him yelling but that doesn't go with any of the other descriptions of him from Shanann or her friends as far as I can tell. He seems like he just went around mimicking whatever he thought people wanted right up until the end. It's just weird to me.
You will not find a reason why by examining the victims, you have to look at Chris. People are viewing this as he was so unhappy /angry with Shanann he had to kill her, what did she do to make him so unhappy that he would be willing to commit murder. The reality is he was not trying to “get away from” but more trying “to get to”. They were obstacles in his way, you have to sell the old car to get the new one- to use someone else’s words - he was problem solving, this was not an emotional decision to murder, it was a what do I need to do to get the life I now want. Shan’ann could have been the perfect wife and when he decided he no longer wanted the life with her and the girls he still would have killed them.

Perhaps it was confirmed after she contacted them, but how do we know that Huskey's suggestion of the affair (emails) did not occur first? MOO

I thought so too and I find in most cases the girls look more like the fathers than the mothers. When I came out of my drug stupor from my C-section and they handed my daughter to me I said OMG she looks just like you to my husband!
Ha, I said the exact same thing with every one of our girls. All mine were c sections, complications with the first led to C-section then the others were so close they had to be c-section too. We had 4 in 4 years

it seems to me many people have a difficult time with the concept of evil so they try and find a reason why someone would murder their family-- there are evil people out there--some are thrill killers, some hide their evil behind a mask of apparent loving behavior, but underneath lurks evil and when something triggers that evil, the mask falls away and we are left with someone like Chris Watts
I agree with you, Ilovewings. At one point an investigator interviewing CW asked if he wanted LE to contact Husky (or another Anadarko employee)about something regarding the site since CW was tied up. CW stated, "No. God, no! They think I am a good guy!" CW had worked hard on his mask. This statement is sort of an admission by CW that he was a bad guy but didn't want others to know.

She also tried to spend time with his family as well. Momma Watts was well...Momma Watts, so that was an abbreviated visit.

We don’t! After dinner, I guess you will need to add it to your list of questions. But I hate to throw NK under the bus until we know for sure exactly what happened and what the exact sequence of events were.

It sounds like Shanann was not withholding, so he just wanted different sex. And he somehow thought he was entitled to have whatever he wanted with whomever he wanted it with. IMO
Yes he seemed to be a bit kinky, into 'different' sorts of things like gay sex and anal sex etc. No one woman is gonna satisfy those urges IMO. People like that are better off in poly situations or single.

6 weeks is a little bit too long.
According to her texts, he could not keep his hands off of her prior to the trip. I have teacher friends who cannot afford multiple trips/ plane tickets, during the summers they fly home to the grandparents and stay for 5 or 6 weeks while the husband stays home to work.

I'm not sure the source of the quote, but an IT guy for Anadarko started looking through e-mails and found suspicious e-mails between the two indicating that NK and CW were having an affair. He turned that information over to investigators. She was being investigated heavily before she went in to meet with the investigators. She made the initial contact with LE, but not until others had reported info on her. LE already had lots of information going in to that interview with her. This is from the discovery dump.
Agree. OP @Layla123 did not provide link but IMO it reads like it's from her attorney. Did this come from Denver Post? It's also evident that Anadarko became an immediate partner with LE on this investigation, and therefore no surprise that LE had all data linked to CW within hours including his digital footprint. It always amazes me how employee arrogance like NK and CW always assume that Corporate has no idea of inter-office romance.

What was the reason Shanann was gone so long?! Was it just for visiting?

And let's not forget the work grapevine. There is always someone that sees something.

The implication from that LE report regarding the Andarko email, was that this was the first time they were hearing about the affair.

That’s why I was confused by her supposedly coming forward on her own.
