I did not find in the discovery where Chris told his father that he buried Shan’ann because he could not put her with the girls after what she did. Did I miss it or was that another lie?
I noticed that too. He said it in an interview. I'm not sure the transcript contained everything that was said. I can believe CW said it yet I also believe the father may have been untruthful.

Thanks, MO. So it looks like the app developers were blase enough to include the exact name of their app in the file name of all of the contents of the compartment, thus making it searchable. They could have used an acronym that the detective would not have noticed. They probably did not envision that anyone would get far enough to search 12,000 images, ie to have that database become available for searches. So then Agent Ford had to get a warrant to actually enter the app to see the photos, after having extracted the list? Thats what I think happened per your link. I wonder how he got around needing the passcode. So a more basic example could be like my fire tablet which comes with a bunch of hidden files (or programs like a secret calculator) and the only way I can get to see those files is to get a special program to reach that next, hidden layer. it's called something like ES.

The data extraction most likely extracted each key stroke (including passwords).

OK gals (and MassGuy :p), I installed the Secret Calculator app and made a video, so y‘all know how it looks like:
Secret Calculator - Streamable

You can hide contacts, passwords, photos AND Google searches.

(gone to missing persons again, this thread‘s too fast for me :D).

Wow how did you do that? Thanks for posting it so I could see how it works.
I know nothing about secret calculators and never heard of such a thing before this all came out.
Ok so yes I live in a cave.

#2 seems quite obvious now that you spell it out for me. I can’t think of what evidence would be on them since it was a bloodless crime scene.
Except little Bella's mouth would have bled quite a bit. :(

Yes. It's very contradictory. How is it possible? And yet confessed killer Christian Longo, who at first blamed his wife too and took it to trial, he was a similar type of dad - he cared for his kids. He talks about how he loved them, cleaned them, played with them, felt bad when they fell, etc. How is it possible? Early videos show him gently stroking his newborn baby.

It's inexplicable.

Some people like this only seem to muster up their version of empathy and sympathy for people they consider "their (property)" - everyone else doesn't really register as a feeling, thinking human just like themselves. Some other people they come into contact with may in turn have instrumental value to them - they see them as useful for their own purposes and therefore it's beneficial to cultivate a relationship with them. Whether people on the sociopathic spectrum truly ever see other human beings as having intrinsic value in and of themselves is anyone's guess though, especially in contexts where it isn't a matter of ownership or benefitting from them.

Which is exactly what makes CW so odd to me. Dude must have sucked at economics and maths at school because his choices just make very little sense from a risk assessment and cost analysis standpoint. It would have been so much easier for him to just take off with NK and ride off into the sunset just like any other deadbeat dad. This was the last thing he had to have ever done, and yet this is what he chose.

I wonder if NK has thought about the possibility that if things had gone differently; she might have been killed and dumped. For instance, if he had decided for some reason to stay with SW and "save the marriage" or had succeeded in getting rid of his family.
I think they are perfect for each other, and she is just as manipulative, and conniving as him. So it would be a race of who could stab the other in the back first.
Imo.

I believe he said the opposite: he put the girls in tanks because he could not put them with "her" after what she did.

I completely agree! Missed opportunity. I believe we have an anomaly here; someone who is not one thing (narcissist), but a combination of behaviors from more than one type; some Narcissistic Personality Disorder and some Borderline Personality Disorder, for instance. Hates his mother, but wants her approval, but wants to punish her. What a maelstrom his mind must be! What can you look for, in advance, as a warning?

I think what can be looked for is a combination of the following:

1. Do they have normal, intimate attachments with others - the ability to have strong, significant bonds with romantic interests, parents, friends, other relatives, but bonds that don't cross boundaries and include a mutual respect for each other's autonomy and identity as an individual? Look for true close friends who know a lot about them. Healthy familial relationships. Ex-girlfriends or mates that they had more than a mere dating relationship.

2. Do they have a strong sense of identity? Do they have a personality and their own opinions? Does their personality and opinions tend to shift a lot to mirror the people they're with? Quiet is okay. But quiet with a shifting identity and shifting likes and dislikes or with an inability to voice an opinion? Red flag, maybe.

3. Do they take responsibility for their failures? Do they have any failures?

4. Do they ever take the initiative on anything?

5. Is there evidence of family dysfunction like abuse, neglect, alcohol or drug abuse, enmeshment, personality disordered (or "crazy") parents and if so, has the potential mate been able to recognize the issue and set appropriate boundaries? Like not allowing the parents to dictate how they raise their kids or what their wedding will be like. Not allowing their parents to insult their mate in the their presence and leaving if they do. Minimizing or controlling contact with destructive relations. Not allowing their kids to be left alone with destructive relatives. Not allowing parents to show up unannounced or call repeatedly without warning AND disrupt daily life a lot, with demands that the potential mate drop everything and talk to the person? Stuff like that.

6. Too good to be true. Says all the right things. Does all the right things. How is this dude not in a committed relationship already? Not ever willing to admit to anything negative about himself. Rarely shows a negative side like anger or impatience.

Me either, I think that is a good thing

There’s a couple possibilities:

They contained evidence.

They were removed in order to sell the story that Shanann took the kids and left.

ETA: Jinx @Jennifer17
Who knows what else he was planning to do before his plans were ruined. He may have gotten rid of other clothes, the purse, the phone, etc. We will never know. I bet he was seething when he saw that Nicole was at the door! She ruined everything!

Yes I was telling my 17 yr old son about it and he told me he already knew because girls in his class with strict parents who search their phones use it.

It occurred to me that the bag he was seen placing in the Lexus was an overnight bag to take to the Thayers that evening.
Page 100 of the Discovery:
During surveillance of CW at his residence one of the under-cover officers noted on Tues., Aug. 14, 2018, "man walk from the front passenger-side to the rear of the white Lexus . . . open the back hatch and place what appeared to be a square bag with pink flowers with white behind the flowers, into the back of the SUV. Then proceeded to grab a cloth like item, already in the back of the SUV and place it into the bag. The man then closed the hatch and walk back to the right side of the SUV out of sight then the garage door closed.”
Could that be where CW placed a baby blanket to be used later to stage his initial abduction story?

Oh my. I wonder how CW knew of this secret calculator app?

I think that's where the delusion comes in. They think they can get away with it because they've successfully manipulated for so long.

But that's also where the panic about not being seen as perfect comes in. They think death is the better option than being unmasked. I think I need to edit my warning sign list!!!

I knew a guy like that he was diagnosed NPD, and hated his adopted mother, but needed her money so he could travel, not work. He eventually was charged with elder abuse after shoving her down a flight of stairs and left there for days, the state pressed charges but his Norma Bates mother hired him an attorney. Talk about twisted.

Yes. My niece hit her mouth on the crossbar of her push chair when she tried to stand up in it, when she was about 18 months old and tore the frenulum. I could not believe how much it bled.

  • #339
Not if he strangled her from behind and in 10m seconds she might not have even seen him.
I want to think it was so fast she did not have a chance to know what was happening,,,,,remember there were no defensive marks or wounds.
I still have to wonder if there weren’t angry words between them before he strangled her. He looked pretty strong and she was small and delicate so it would be pretty easy to over power her.

Didn't he admit he didn't put Shanann in the tank because she wouldn't fit, or was that conversation here and I imagined it?
