They were living at my parents at the time and my sis in law is what I would imagine like Shannann. From the FB posts, to micromanaging, controlling, etc. I don't think that gives anyone a reason to murder someone! It isn't a personality that I would form a friendship with. I don't like people that manipulate. At any rate, my sis in law thought she was going to use the kids as leverage in getting my parents to do what she wanted. It didn't work. My parents refused to be treated like crap in their own home, and bend over backwards to appease others. My parents said kids were NOT to be used as if chess pieces in a game. They refused to be manipulated. They even stated if that meant the kids would not be a part of their lives, they were OK with that. So coming from that experience, I understand the Watts family.

It didn't give Chris the right to murder anyone! NO! It doesn't mean I hate Shannann, how silly, I didn't know her! Just a different perspective on the situation. Throughout the interviews, I could imagine my Mom sayign some of the same things about my sis in law. She was deeply hurt by how she and my Dad were treated.

well im pleased for you you don't hate shanann but gee your nasty preconceptions about her are affensive imo

as you stated you didn't know her and you have no right to judge her so meanly.

Hi everyone!

I have been following this case since day one. I am bordering on compulsively obsessed - the entire tragedy is beyond my comprehension and my heart just keeps breaking over and again for Shanann, Bella, and Cece - the terror, panic, and pain they each endured at the hands of someone they loved and trusted is just unimaginable. My heart goes out unendingly to the Rzuceks and Shanann's friends as every new horrifying detail hits our consciousness. I joined WS a while back but am as shy behind a keyboard as I am in the real world, so have only lurked with great respect (and sadness)as the discussion here unfolds.

I'm moving towards freeing myself and my three beautiful daughters from a 20 year marriage that has been emotionally and verbally abusive (although he'd say otherwise) and trying to keep us all safe through the process. My greatest fear is that things will turn physical. I'm always hyper vigilant. (By the grace of God, and probably because he didn't think I was serious and it would be temporary) he moved into a friend's house...so I don't see him more than once a week for visitation. But, I'm always alert and watching, thinking, strategizing. In other words, I most likely would not be blindsided. (I hope I never have to find out)

I just cannot begin to imagine the absolute terror in that house that night. By a man no one would have ever suspected would commit such heinous acts. It makes me physically ill, and beyond, beyond sad. I pray for peace for all who love Shanann and her daughters.

I hit reply for a reason, sorry for going off on a tangent. I listened to Mr Watts most of the way through with my headphones pressed tightly to my ears, boy is he hard to understand! But from what I gathered, he was describing a previous birthday party where Shannan had bought power rangers costumes for the kids as part of the theme, and the mask was forgotton behind. She "made" Chris drive back to get it, a 3 hour round trip for what he said was a costume that would not be worn more than 20 minutes. He used this example to illustrate (what he perceived as) her controlling nature and to make the point that Shannan wants what she wants and only thinks of herself. MOO, JMO.

You are constantly living in fear, and thank goodness, are taking steps to leave with your 3 daughters.
The Watts family continue to 'run down' Shan'ann, and probably will continue in this fashion.
It is evil CW that should be discussed, and his many faults, by this family.

It was Inmate Watts' Apple Watch that was found on the nightstand. I don't think it was said whether or not it was charging. Shanann's Apple Watch was found under the pillows on the sofa.

I totally missed this before. Why would both her phone and her Apple Watch be under the couch pillows? It really looks like Inmate Watts hid them there, but I can't figure out why he would hide them there of all places. Nothing he does makes sense. If someone told me they discovered he is actually an alien from Mars I think I would believe it at this point. As at least that would explain why nothing he does or says matches with the actions of a human.

I agree. Champagne taste on a 3/2 budget. The stress of their financials alone would be enough to send some over the edge. They were really into appearances , without an income to support it, and spending way out of their means. It had to be a pressure cooker for them. NK might have picked up on that, and seemed to be unafraid to have CW know how important $$ was to her. She probably let him know in her way, how the kids represented dollar signs to her, and if he were divorced, that would have a huge impact. Yuk.. 2 of a kind there.

Right? I live alone and just cleared up a bunch of IRS b******* and if I had a family I would have been so hosed.

I can see what you are saying about another perspective and it sounds like your family went through a hard time. However, the watts family appear to have issues with boundaries and respecting other people's ways of being in this world.

If we take the nut incident for example, I do not believe that Mrs Watts actions can be justified as SW being the problem. Yes SW may have reacted the way she did, which may seem over the top to some from an outside perspective (eg going online to complain) but it speaks highly of a historical pattern of behaviour where SW felt her parenting was being undermined and her concerns dismissed.

Likewise SWs mother also reported issues with both of CWs parents when they came to stay. While SW may have played a part in the outcome (eg removing herself and the kids from the situation) I have to respectfully disagree with you that SW was the problem.

It already does not matter. CW did not kill SW and the kids either because of nut allergy or because of that senseless drive for the mask. CW killed his family because he fell in love with another woman, wanted to be with her, but also, managed to make another child to his first wife and realized that the divorce would be costly. He took a shortcut, so to say. Had SW had a difficult personality or did not match CW - (we understand, things happen), shouldn’t he be upset with her, stop marital relationships? But no, they continued having sex, made the third child together. Not so easy if you either hate a woman or are an abused man.

So Shanann might have been a problem for the senior Wattses, but not for Chris, until Nichol appeared in his life.

Con Air is supposed to be most unpleasant. And I'm sure bus travel isn't much fun either. And the process of being moved can take a long time and involves lots of shackles and chains? So yay. So many new firsts for CW!

In this interview with the FBI, RW say CW did not tell him why he put the girls in the tanks and buried SW. So I guess he lied in his media interview. At about 20:20

Maybe when CW did his mad dash in the house before letting the police, NUA, and her son inside, he grabbed the phone and apple watch and quickly tossed under some couch cushions. Because that seems like a very haphazard hiding spot done on the fly. I don't think SW hid them there, just because I have a hard time believing that she would ever power off her phone. And I think he killed her in bed since he claims to have moved her back in bed after killing her in another room, which would make no sense.

So both SW’s apple watch and phone were found underneath pillows on the same couch in the loft? NUA’s son found her phone under the cushions but I guess did not find the watch since that was found by LE. I’ve always thought CW hid her phone there. If the watch was there as well maybe he stashed them both - either to prevent any calls for help or to hide from LE before their search.

after he buried Shannon and he put his daughters in the oil vat. Did he really believe he would get away killing his family.

I agree, I'm sure there's hell to pay if RW didn't stand by mama Watts, this goes for the daughter too. This has gone on for over 35 yrs, now it's just second nature. jmo

He hid them there. I left open the possibility that the phone slipped between the cushions, but no way did the phone and the watch accidentally end up there. Nobody else but CW had any reason or opportunity to put them there. The aliens are innocent, lol. MOO

Chris Watts moved from a Colorado prison to another prison out of state, sources say

Colorado State Prisons cannot disclose where Inmate Watts moved to -- only victims are told. It's no surprise that CW was shipped out of Colorado as post Colorado Prison Reform, the state does not have the resources necessary to "babysit" CW for his safety. I believe a NC prison location for CW would have the appearance of reward or gift, and if true, can be rightfully protested by the victims. MOO

ETA: If CW transferred to a federal facility, his info will be be made public (feds can't withhold inmate location).

Do you think they let him get roughed up a few times before they "decided" he needed to be moved for safety reasons? I sure hope so.

I wish we still could see some daily prison reports.

Maybe Shanann told NUA that she was going to sleep on the couch that night just like she told her she was going to need a friend this week and that's why NUA's son looked in the couch immediately and found the phone and NUA knew the code to the phone even though " If I Only Had a Brain" did not have the code
