I think continuing to investigate NK would be harassment. Under what criminal statute do they expect her to be charged? Best punishment would be not to allow her to profit from this horrible event. MOO

His guilty plea took her off the radar. IMO

JMO, he was in control from day one. He pretended to be someone he wasn't and he was living a secret life. SW was not in control - he just led her to believe that she was.
But that is speculation isn't it?
Several of SW's colleagues also stated that she 'was in charge' (as have several posters on this thread), these along with SW's acknowledgement are facts.

This is why I’m not so sure he absolutely planned to kill S that night. He couldn’t merely walk out of the house with her body & leave the kids alone, he had no sitter lined up.
I’ve wavered on the kids. Did he plan to kill them or was it an afterthought?
As someone mentioned earlier, maybe Bella saw something so he felt he had no choice.
I’ve entertained the idea he would kill S, leave the kids sleeping, rush to the oil field, dispose of S and then call off work. Race home, hopefully before the girls were up, begin the clean up.
No one will convince me he did not hate S. Obviously he had no respect for her.
I’m unsure of his feelings for the kids. They did cramp his style.

The call/txt to his co-worker saying he would go to that site (wasn't supposed to) shows it was a plan at least for someone to be killed and placed there.

No - it is not speculation. SW had no control. He was living a secret life she had no knowledge about. That put her at an extreme disadvantage and it cost her not only her life but the lives of her babies. She didn't know who he was.

What a dumb headline for the article - "Chris Watt's In-Laws Speak Out After Their Daughter's Tragic Murder" ??

How about "Shanann Watts' Parents Speak Out After Their Daughter's Tragic Murder"

Who wants to be known as Chris Watts' In-Laws?? Blech.

Unrelated, it struck me as really interesting that SW's password for everything was her ex-mother-in-law's phone number. CW told Agent Tammy that in the interviews. Tammy expressed surprise about that, but Chris was like, "Nah, they were just really good friends and stayed friends."

Imagine that. SW was really good friends with her former mother-in-law! Even after she and the MIL's son got divorced! Enough to keep her phone number as her password. Look at that, SW wasn't the horrible, shady, bipolar daughter-in-law after all. I think it says tons about her that even her FORMER mother-in-law liked her even after the divorce. Sorry Cindy and most unpleasant Watts family.

Ugly sexism. She isn't owned by him and neither are her parents. The media is erasing her. urgh...

But how can you be 'in control' when you do everything somebody else wants? Even if you are doing what you want behind their back.

Wow... they had tons of 'stuff'.

They could raked it in on a yard sale or three.

THIS! And if she did let him go, she would make his life a living hell, esp if she learned of a mistress or mistresses.

I don't agree with that. SW was previously divorced and her ex-husband didn't say she made his life hell. They got along well after their divorce and her ex didn't have much bad to say about her. He had not heard from her in years either. He didn't even know her new last name until he saw it on the news. SW moved on with her life once without needing any revenge for whatever went wrong in her first marriage. She was the type to look at the positive side and I don't see her being so bitter that she would sabotage CW's life and make it impossible for him to have a relationship with the girls. She would have only prevented him from being in their life if she thought he would harm them, like the situation with the In-laws trying to give CeCe nuts. MOO.

Yes, her best friend whom she referred to as being "so retarded." But as I understood it she did not want to reveal any details about the crime since she was a witness and it was an ongoing investigation. She also expressed concern about the media contacting her and asking her for details. She also talked about how Charlottes dad had just died and and she didn't think she even knew that Chris was the one she had the affair with, as she would not have had her mind on that. Maybe its a combination of those things.

What I found to be disconcerting was that she kept cursing! She said the "f" word twice. Is that just normal with the younger generation or what?! She's about 15 years younger than me but my nephews are in their early twenties and I can't imagine them cursing in an interview like that. It's just not appropriate. The investigator was incredibly patient. I think if it was me I would have asked her if her mother taught her how to speak like that. I've always been pretty laid back but that language I just can't tolerate. Maybe I'm just getting old. Imo

Yes, very odd. I would think most people wouldn’t fling out F bombs during an interview like that. I’m about 15 years older than her as well, but I have 3 kids and 2 of them are adults and they wouldn’t talk that way either. It’s called respecting authority.

Looking at the body cam videos of the house search, it looks like Bella’s room was directly across from CW&SW room while Celeste’s seemed a bit more tucked away. It makes sense then that if CW strangled SW while she was lying in their bed or on the couch Bella would have been more likely to hear something and come running in. If she did, this would explain why she had the defense wounds and little Celeste did not. :( She remained asleep until the very end.

I don’t think I’ve ever despised a human being as much as I do CW.

I can't imagine a law that would prohibit her profiting, she didn't do anything illegal from what I can see. Public opinion would be the only limiter, just don't buy her book, or watch her appearances, but there is a market for absolutely anything. Anyway I doubt that she will write a book.

Mark is in the navy, so that is understandable. They were still in touch by phone regularly and met up in San Diego. Mark was also still in touch with the Watts family.

Yes, “still in touch with the Watts family.”

I forgot, Cindy Watts reached out to Mark to complain about Shanann and express her fear of “losing Chris.”

Like any normal mother would do ...

My take on it was that NK is totally embarrassed and ashamed, she wants no association with CW, she doesn’t want to drag her friends into it, and she doesn’t think anyone will hire her for 5-10 years. She was also talking about changing her name and moving out of state.
I get that and I can see why she would be embarrassed. However, her friends were going to be contacted. Not to metion it’s all over the news. Pretending your friends aren’t going to find out is ridiculous.

I've wondered that too.
@gitana1

There's no immunity deal. Guys she wasn't involved. She just wasn't. There would be interrogations of her and accusations during questioning. It just is not there.

We know that he was in touch with the Watts family, because Mrs Watts rang him to tell him about the nut incident.
How strange is that?

Well you are very gracious and a better, more forgiving person than I am then. If I were ever caught up in a murder investigation of someone close to me and for some inexplicable reason I chose to react by telling half-truths and avoiding giving police the info they required I hope I would have such a friend as you defending me. I genuinely mean that-- no snark at all. I cut NK all the slack she needs as far as her feelings go-- she is absolutely allowed to feel angry, upset and worried about her future. But most decent and normal human beings would reach a pivot point where they have more concern and empathy for the murder victims. Most people would express their emotions and self-centered reactions privately to friends and family who can support them emotionally. Most would just give the police what they ask for and leave the police out of their personal drama with their friends. NK seems to be offended and defensive when the police are simply trying to get info from her. Bringing up all her problems that she now has to deal with sounds manipulative and evasive in the face of their questioning. I'm glad really and truly that there are people like you though that can cut people like NK some slack. Because you are evidence that NK will have little trouble finding employment and friends who will understand her and probably even boyfriends in the future. There will be many people who only read her Denver post interview and are sympathetic to NK. I don't wish her any ill will at all. I only hope she has gained some self-awareness and humility from what happened and will learn empathy. Those characteristics would serve her well in the future. MOO.
The worst if her fears came true. From what I saw I don’t know if she’s going to survive it. I see a great possibility that she may succumb to addiction to self medicate the embarrassment and pain away, or follow some other kind of self destructive path. I guess that will depend on the support system she has around her. Time will tell.

That was truly bizarre! And the friend said he never saw a bad side to Shanann. How weird and inappropriate that CW's mother would call up his friend to trash her. And yet CW was never complaining about SW's terrible traits to him. Just CW's mother! So messed up. The friend did however say that CW is very much like his mother Cindy.

I agree that she had no control in the last weeks, but she certainly had control beforehand.

The call/txt to his co-worker saying he would go to that site (wasn't supposed to) shows it was a plan at least for someone to be killed and placed there.

Had he waited to do this Monday, after work, he could have cleaned, fielded her texts, maybe grilled a steak, called NK, etc.
Perhaps, as suggested, Bella saw something. Maybe she screamed and he attempted to stifle her, going too far.
So might as well kill C.
If he could have buried S and called his boss that he wasn’t feeling well or...., he prob could have made it back home before the kids were up.
Then his “oh she left me, we had an emotional convo”, would come into play.
Per NK, he planned to have an apartment large enough to accommodate the kids.
