As well as the sex, I think that CW thought that he was stepping up financially. He shared houses with people and moved on SW when she had bought her own house, now NK was probably earning much more money than he, he could see how that might benefit him with BMWs and all that kind of stuff.

Yes, financially, career-wise, NK the planner was in his field of work, she might have pushed him to go to college and grow professionally. There were many things they shared. It was not a bad match, from many aspects, but CW was obsessive.

....making the hearing of the recording difficult...intentionally?
I doubt it. He just mumbles on incessantly. Always shifting around. Very distracting.

I don't think that CW was college material.

He's a sociopath who murdered his pregnant wife and his own children.
He was married with 2 children and another on the way. WTH was he thinking having an affair in the first place? Despicable! What loving parent would do that to their children?

Well, he was said to have a "photographic memory," and his roommate said all he did was study and he never went out to socialize. So I guess we'll never know. Maybe he can take classes in prison.

Yup. And if he applies himself, he’ll be one of the most educated men in hell.

Chris' childhood "best friend" was interviewed. They had kept in touch but weren't overly close anymore, as happens when friends grow up, move away and start families. The friend said he never witnessed abnormal behavior from Chris and that Shan'ann was always friendly and nice - he visited them when they were in San Diego and said they seemed happy. He said the Watts family frequently told him Shan'ann was 'shady' and they didn't trust her, but he never personally saw any reason for their lack of trust. What stood out to me in this interview was that after 'Nutgate', Cindy Watts called him (her grown-up son's friend!) and told him she was worried about losing Chris because of what Shan'ann had done!!! What kind of mother involves her adult son's friend in an argument with a DIL? Especially a friend Chris was not very close to anymore. Talk about overstepping boundaries!- it seems all Cindy cared about was sneakily making sure everyone she could contact was on her 'side'. The friend said he reached out to Chris and Chris texted back and said something like he had finally seen the real side of Shan'ann. This was a short interview, not much discussed, but I thought it spoke volumes about the Watts family dynamic
It was during Cindy's interviews that we first learned that SW had "friends." I believe Cindy stated CW had 3 best friends and that he was still in contact with them. I also believe these friends to be 3 guys that Cindy nurtured friendships with, and shared them with Chris (she found his friends and controlled the friendship). Cindy shared the nut story with San Diego navy guy and requested he intervene and he complied. MOO

I think this case has caused a lot of us to side-eye our husbands. It's all so unfathomable.

It is unfathomable. And so frightening. My daughter is about to be engaged and they are talking about possibly being married next summer. I have been looking at her boyfriend , with side-eye for months now. lol ....yikes

He is a nice guy, kind of quiet, but very responsible and kind. And because of this case, that was a red flag.

His family invited her to go away on a family vacation with them over Thanksgiving and she was worried we'd be disappointed that she didn't spend T-Day with us. NO WAY. I really really want her to go spend 4 days with his parents and siblings, so I could see what the real deal was. I encouraged her to go and to get to know his parents very well. Imagine my relief when she said how nice and supportive they were and how they all got along really well. And he gets along great with his folks, but doesn't seem enmeshed. THAT WAS A RELIEF.

IT seems that one of the biggest red flags in seeing a possible FA, is a toxic family and childhood.

In her 2nd interview she was really snotty about them getting the text they need, and very evasive about them asking about her feelings about the children.
Not very helpful,or forthcoming when it's a quadruple murder investigation.

I agree, there is something odd about that interview. You at least don't want to alienate the detectives. She either felt she had some good protection, or simply was not too intuitive.

Apparently it's not all that uncommon. Isn't it something like 60 % of married men cheat on their wives? Could be more, could be less. Same for women. It's just not the kind of thing most people share.

Well, I must have lived a sheltered life.

I know people cheat. But putting the security of ones own children to be vulnerable (ie getting involved) seems irresponsible and self centered to me. Cheating on ones spouse is one thing.....cheating your kids out of stability is another.
Men who cheat on their pregnant wives imo is a different species.

Thank you for posting this! I thought it was my hearing! Lol!

Nope, not just you. I wonder if the poor audio quality is why there only seems to be a summary of his interview in the discovery documents (page 371 or Discovery page 423).

Has anyone found a transcript of Ronnie Watt's interviews? Or a video that has decent subtitles? I have tried listening a few times and I can't understand nor hear a thing he says. He mumbles so much and youtube closed captioning is almost pointless to have turned on. Those are about the only videos I haven't made it through.
I have these pages noted (both are FBI interviews):
Pg 284 (Discovery pg 329)
Pg 371 (Discovery pg 423)

ETA: Oops, looks like I misunderstood - I haven't seen actual transcripts. MOO

CW stated that he has a "doorbell camera." Does anyone know if that camera picked up anything? Or did CW do something to disable it? Or does that camera have very limited range? (I'm wondering if it may have picked up CW dragging something.)
Based on limited research, it seems the door bell camera activates only when bell is pushed/engaged allowing homeowner to see who is at the door, but not like neighbors surveillance that is "motion" activated. MOO

What is your source for this? From what I recall - both girls were over excited to see and greet CW that they even penetrated security at the NC airport. TIA
  • RZUCEK said that one day SHANANN was on the phone and the girls were screaming for her, even though they could see her. RZUCEK said that the girls wanted to be sure their mom was close by them. RZUCEK said he made a comment to CHRIS about him being chopped liver. (Discovery p.685)

RZUCEK said that when he had them in the airport, the girls ran away from him and when he caught up to them BELLA was screaming at the top of her lungs. RZUCEK said looking back, it is possible that CHRIS got tired of the girls crying for their mother instead of him and he resented that. (Discovery p 681)

I did manage to hear him say Shanann was bi-polar and controlling. He said that really clear. Made me sick.

I think the camera is motion activated and you don't have to ring the bell. The doorbell camera captured SW coming home and entering the front door when NAU dropped her off. It was part of the evidence they were planning to use that showed SW was walking straight and not drunk when she came home. I have yet to see this doorbell video, however. Has anyone seen the doorbell videos?

He didn't go out the front door that morning-- as evidenced by the fact that he left the security latch closed. He went through the garage so the doorbell camera at the front door would not have picked up his movement over in the driveway. JMO.

I think so too. I have seen doorbell cams catch people who were stealing delivered parcels.
