What do you believe about the DA’s statement saying they believe they know where the body is? Just asking for more time or actual belief that they know?

Spezze feels confident in Barry’s guilt, as we at Websleuths do.
I just don't know. It would be an understandable bluff on the one hand (getting case dismissed without prejudice), but unfair to Suzanne's family on the other. A huge piece for them is having closure in that regard.

So for me to believe they do know, it would mean that they obtained new information at some point. I say that, because they've had two summers now in which to search this area of interest.

So I guess I'm leaning against this being true, but the door is open. I guess we'll find out in the coming weeks and months.

I sure hope the news media don’t give up on this case. Spezze seems committed but of course, this is his jurisdiction. I just don’t want to see this become a cold case.

I suppose Stanley could have asked Suzanne’s family if they are ok with her “misleading” the public so that she has more time to fine tune her case. I’m sure they would agree with us that Judge L gutted the case anyway.

YES. Let's keep this image in our minds!

It's reminding me of when the Moorers were let off the hook for the murder of Heather Elvis but then arrested and convicted of her kidnapping.

I loved seeing them go down! Another "No-Body case" with dumb-bunnies doing the crime!

Pardon Please???
@Cindizzi sbm for focus Thx your post.:) Not directing this at you, but at whoever wrote that headline at the Denver Post.

Barry Morphew murder case: DA drops all charges. bbm
Drops all charges? Iirc from other sources, nope, nope, nope.

"... prosecutors ....abruptly dropped all charges against Barry Morphew in the death of his wife Suzanne Morphew."

Substituting "some" for "all" charges would made the headline only one letter longer, making it accurate, but less sensational.
Oh, well. my2ct

I have a suspicion that they got information from a former employee who talked with BM that night, and BM’s truck was outside her house, and I have another totally unproven theory (no MG is NOT guilty in my mind and I won’t divulge until later), she was in a lot of the same places BM was. She was interviewed four times, she ‘mostly cooperated’ she was offered ‘an envelope of money’ she was told it ‘could look like hush money’ (can’t remember exact wording. She was threatened by BM not to hand over her phone. She left town because she was scared of him, and I am sure she had very good reason to be. IMO while in no way involved with any criminal action she has a lot of specific information to share. MOO

Is it necessary for there to be additional evidence in order to refile the case? Or can they just get organized/better prepared with the currently know evidence and then refile the case?

I was hoping it was a bluff and BM would run right to the spot, tonight or tomorrow. This may also provide a better chance for him to expose more evidence, he has no ankle monitor now, but I would think they are keeping a close eye on him. Quite possibly they have someone talking and they just need that person to get a little closer and have BM open up some with him thinking he has gotten away with it.

All hopes but IMO we have not seen the last of BM.

Will be interesting to see if he can continue to afford his attorneys in 6 months or a year, al tho maybe his upfront payments will remain with them till he is in jail.

I'm curious if the PH in August of 2021 stirred up some interest when possibly an informant saw what was actually out there and then decided to talk.. even an anonymous tip could have pointed to an area to search and I was reading that snow falls in Sept in the higher elevations. It's possible that the ground has been covered for 6 months + now and unable to be searched properly.

I am curious also if her RR data came in and showed something that night. Obviously if it left the house say after 2:45pm on Saturday and Barry said she was asleep when he left at 5am on Sunday, then it points to Barry using it to dump her. As of May 2021 when the AA was written it was noted the RR data wasn't back yet.. which is crazy to take a year +, but maybe they did get it back after the PH and it showed activity in a certain area?

Am still a little surprised of the move out of state, which I thought was rather abrupt.

‘I could bury a body and no one will ever find it’. IMO SM is buried and will not be easily found. I think the mines are high on the list of possible places.

... reporter talking to a young woman outside the courthouse in the J. Depp trial. She had 2 very cute LIVE LLAMAS on a leash and said she brought them in hopes that JD might see them and they cheer him up. Lol @Kemug !
@Cindizzi bbm sbm for focus You do not miss a thing.:)

Someone should warn the llamas to take cover.
If BM saw llamas, I doubt they would cheer him up.
He might grab/borrow a gun & shoot them. :eek::mad:

Just saw the latest news! Hoping they really know where Suzanne is and her burial site reveals and holds the clues needed for a conviction.

How easy would it be to just say you are looking at potential job sites driving around. I think this is possible with MG knowing something valuable.. I also think it's possible hunting buddies of his could know something valuable too. He didn't choose some random place he never been and then decided to dump her. I think he had been there before either exploring, hunting, working related, etc.. he had to know where he'd go and I think he knew exactly where he'd go when he made that comment to MG about hiding a body.

Maybe it was in the deleted locations on his phone? Maybe they finally recovered all of those deleted locations? Maybe he didn't take his phone when he dumped her, but if he was there before looking and planning, it may be a location stored in his phone that he deleted?

While we are disappointed in the delay of the proceedings, we remain unwavering in our commitment to this investigation and the ultimate prosecution of Mr. Morphew

rsbm. Doesn’t a statement like this from the Sheriff reinforce IE’s press conference statement that the sheriff’s office was laser focused on BM being the guilty party and not being willing to look at anyone else?

and I hope by rest you don’t mean to leave for a long time. I love reading the comments by those of you who are knowledgeable in the law.

Barry better hope that his relationship with SD stays strong. I mean, how many cases have come together because of a scorned lover out for revenge.
Excellent observation. We can only hope!

I mean, they should have been laser focused on Barry. He would have been easily cleared if Suzanne showed a sign of life after he left, had her phone not powered down before he left, and if his alibi was an actual alibi.

Those three things tell you exactly where to start.

At the same time, we know they alibied countless people, to include co workers, JL, and infamous drug lord "CBD Tim."

The sheriff obviously isn't going to change his tune now, as nothing has changed on their end. Let's just hope they are actually close to possibly finding Suzanne.

I think the sheriff is confident Barry did it and so are the prosecutors. This wasn't a dismissal request because they admit he isn't guilty. They had no choice with the judge making rulings excluding key witnesses as experts and if they really do think they know a location and this trial goes ahead and he's acquitted, then she is found. Not good. This is why I am leaning toward that being true.. they do have a location that was either called in or discovered by vehicle data or phone deletes, etc.

I may be way off base here but IF they had new info come in that was strong enough couldn't the prosecution have said that and received a continuance? I hate to say this but I think they don't have anything and just BS'd their way out of this to put some pressure on bM and save face. This was a catastrophic case for the prosecution and they blew it. I hope I'm wrong but it just doesn't make sense to me to pull the whole case off the table if they had ANYTHING remotely relevant. They may have a few more pieces of circumstantial evidence but as far as anything concrete? Nah, they have nothing. What a horrible day.

Let's really call a spade a spade. Judge L gutted their expert testimony. He basically threw out their very good circumstantial case by leveling sanctions that make a mockery of justice. I'd like to know WHY? And where is the precedent for such a pro-defense move by a criminal court judge? He knew what he was doing.

The circumstantial evidence in totality is damning. I'm puzzled if you have been following this case and don't see that. It was a case without a body. If that changes, so do more of BM's prospects for a sunny beach in Costa Rica. If it was a bluff, the DA is another wrongful player in what should be a serious pursuit for justice, not a pawn game.
