I would love to have a view from inside the Puma Path home to see the visibility. Not necessarily with the naked eye but maybe using binoculars because I’m wondering if Barry could monitor the remains from home.
Also interested to know when Suzanne opened her Vicky’s Secret credit card and what the purchases consisted of and the timing of that. Virgin daughters and disinterested wives wouldn’t necessarily be interested in typical VS apparel.
If there is an ounce of truth to Barry’s prostate issues and complaints I hope this Valentine’s Day renders him impotent or at the very least a raging and miserable case of ED with a supply chain issue to afford no Viagra wherever he and his supportive friend are celebrating. IMO

Well as someone said those telematics in that fancy pants truck he has would say if he rolled the window down if we are to believe it captured 80 other instances of things opening, shutting, and lights going on and off. Surely it must capture windows right?

It did not, because the system had been tampered with.

I absolutely think he was killing time; after he was killing his wife. He needed someone besides himself to discover her missing. His true crime podcasts taught him that.
Let his daughters, whom he loved as much as his wife, go home and find their Mom missing on Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, as young adults often do, they lost track of time and were running late. Now BM is stuck right in the middle of finding/reporting her missing. And so his elaborate plan got off on the wrong foot….
I have to wonder who he would have called if he hadn’t been able to reach the Ritters. Of course he knew he could bank on them being home and wanting to help.
Would he have called GD ? He lived fairly close by, right?
He couldn’t wait too late in the day since the story was a bike ride and her being out close to dark without taking her car would not look feasible.
I wonder when he found out the girls were running late.
He’s damn lucky he had the Ritters because if not, how would it look if he waited much longer to either call LE himself for a welfare check OR leave his big job and come home to check on her ?! Things were gonna look hinky enough.
He must have been sweating bullets once she was reported missing.Knowing he’d would have to deal with authorities.
Of course he had planned to be far enough away that he could practice his script on the drive home.
“ Did you see any Cats on the road? “
“ Could she have gotten disoriented and got in the river?”

That’s right. I have in my notes that at 1:06 am on 5/11, BM was told that he was free to go but they were going to seize his truck and process it.

Any idea where you got the 1:06 am? Want to source it so I can put a time on the timeline.

I suppose it’s also possible that he wanted it to look like a sex maniac kidnapper riding a mountain lion, while shooting chipmunks, abducted Suzanne. He’d have to destroy the phone in that case too.

I literally LOL'd at this.

This is exactly how ridiculous any other scenario sounds when the defense suggests it. Some random sexual predator that touched her glove box, but nothing was out of place.. what did he park her car in the garage before taking the bike and tossing it. Didn't steal anything just Suzanne. It all sounds fabricated and far fetched because Barry was up to so many suspicious things in the 2 days prior that we'd have to disregard all of that and believe the crazy story for it to be true.

"Listen, well let me tell you this. I go to markets just as they are closing, and dig through their trash all the time. I'm cheap, and I find all sorts of stuff in there. I use the backs of receipts to write notes, so I don't have to go out and buy paper. Sometimes I find granola bars, and I keep them in my truck so that when I go to Macdonald's parking lots in Broomfield to dump trash, I have something healthier to eat."

Or something.
:D It's ridiculous and the more he talked the worse it got! Like this.. it's just not believable.

Well in fairness to Barry, I made up this dialogue.

At the same time, it's totally believable because of how unbelievable Barry's statements are.

Ironic.

You get that Barry said he turned left, right? The prosecution doesn't even need it because there is so much more.

Snipped by Della C:

Barry said, “Yeah, I didn’t. I turned around there. I turned, I, I went that way because I saw those elk. They were in road right there, before I got up to 50. And I let ’em cross and then there was one good bull in there and I like, ‘Man.’ And I just missed seeing how good he was. Yeah know, I’m a hunter and I just wanted to see him and I just turned that way to look at him. That’s, yeah, that’s, that’s the only thing and when I went to Broomsfield, I told Joe and Derek everywhere I stopped. I had crap blowing out of the truck, I pull over at one spot, got my truck situated, went off … ”

I wonder if this "crap blowing out of the truck" included one bicycle helmet, and if the spot where he pulled over and "got my truck situated" doesn't correspond to where the helmet was found.........

SA Harris explained to Barry that sometimes questions shed light on things and helps investigators know where not to look for Suzanne as well. SA Harris states there are things about his truck we are wondering and asks Barry when he left for Broomfield, did he turn right or left on to Hwy 50?

Barry said, “Yeah, there was a herd of elk in the road and there was one bull and he was a nice bull. And they all went up the gulley there, where that old washed-out road is and they went up there. And I’m like, ‘Oh, I want to see how big this bull is.’ And I turned down there, and and, they crossed right in front of me and then I went down to the Garfield turn around and then went to Broomsfield.”

SA Grusing asked what Garfield is.

Barry said, “It’s a little town before the ski town. Little ski town.”

SA Grusing asked if it was before Monarch.

Barry said, “Yeah. I turned around right there.”

SA Grusing explained that Agents have checked and hadn’t seen Barry or others go past the Monarch camera.

Barry was shown a map printout of Hwy 50 near the Garfield area west of his Puma Path house and asked about where he turned around at Garfield when he left his house. He asks where his road is and is told that it is off the map. Barry said, “I can’t tell you exactly where I turned around, but it was probably the first road or drive going into Garfield.”

Barry said the reason he was watching where the elk go is because he hunts sheds and that while the bull didn’t have its horns, it was a big bull and he figured that Barry could get its pattern then he could follow that pattern and find his horns.

Barry talks about the county road where the helmet was found and said he was pretty sure he went past that one, because he was stilling looking at the herd.

[As Barry discussed watching the herd and its patterns and where he turned around, he was motioning several times back and forth with the pen from the road to the location of Garfield mine on the map.]

...

SA Grusing asked Barry if, after he looked at the bull elk, he continued past the exit to 285 to Denver or continued on Highway 50 into town. Barry said, “No, I went straight there.” When asked how long he watched the bull elk and if it was walking along the highway, Barry said, “No, they crossed. I was trying to see where they were going up the mountain because that’s where I was gonna look for his horns because they do the same things, they’re gonna drop their horns in the same pattern.”

He added, “They had already crossed. They were in the road when I stopped in the road before I got to fifty, they were in the road, crossing, and then they cross the road, and by the time I get up there, they’re already cross in’ the mountain. I mean, I don’t stop on fifty, I keep going. I’m just watchin’ to see where they’re going. I get to Garfield, tum around, go right to 285.”

...

Barry was shown a map of Garfield, Colorado and he confirmed he turned around on Sunday, May 10th, at the first place he could have, pointing to exit 228. Barry said he did not climb that road leading up into the mountains, nor did he go into any of the mines. He said George and his buddy searched those mine shafts for Suzanne. (Page 119 of 129)

That part about him telling Grusing that he had already told CBI Agents that he had pulled over and stopped at one point because of “ crap blowing out of his truck that he had to get situated “ is very telling IMO. He was trying to cover his bases because he didn’t know what THEY know.

So maybe we need to be looking at similar crimes that may have inspired him, and hopefully glean some clues from them?
PS I just put a copycat in the zoo :D

May be good to plan the first or second week of May so the true conditions of those mountain trails could be experienced. Would be nice to see what/where the 2019-2020 snow pack was. I know it was less than norm but with the thaw going on it could have been pretty messy the higher you go. Monarch closed in March that year due to covid; normally they close for the season the second week of April.

There are a lot of hiking/biking videos on YouTube of the trails around Puma Path. You can get an idea of the ground conditions on those, most of them have the ride/hike date listed somewhere. Look for: Monarch Crest Trail, Fooses Creek Trail, and Greens Creek Trail.

Agree, and also listen to the relevant Crime Podcasts that are in Discovery.

There are two Podcast companies, The Learning Channel (Forensic Files) and - Court TV by Katz Broadcasting (Forensic Files). Wouldn't you love to know which episodes of the Podcasts Barry used to listen to?

Just occurred to me that the reason SD may have worn a wig while checking in to the Antlers Hotel on 2/12/2021 is because that was not their first time checking in there to celebrate Valentine's Day together, but she did not want anyone who makes it an annual thing to go there to recognize that she had been there with him the prior year as well...

ETA: Do I remember correctly that SM told JL that BM wasn't going to be around Valentine's Day 2020?
Edited again: Page 30 of AA (the spy pen conversation with JL) - SM is in FL in Feb 2020 and tells JL that BM will not be coming there for Valentine's Day, so she and JL talk about meeting sometime between Feb 11 (a Tuesday) and Valentine's Day since BM is unlikely to show up.

I for one would love to know which ones Barry listened to and maybe even when. On a similar note what podcasts do my fellow sleuths enjoy listening to? Thanks in advance.

He takes a long time to come up with insanely idiotic excuses.

Imagine being gullible enough to believe anything this man says.
He obviously never heard of the KISS principle.j

What color were the biking shorts he suggested to LE initially? Perhaps he dropped the other biking clothes elsewhere and was disappointed they too weren’t located? IMO
EBM for additional thought. Maybe Barry continued to dispense clothing and other materials in hopes to muddy the investigation especially a couple of days after when he surely knew LE wasn’t buying his BS. IMO
What's odd is LE asked for clothing that SM had worn that day. The first thing out of an innocent spouses mouth should have been that he didn't know what she wore because he left her snoring in bed without saying goodbye. moo

Of course there couldn't have been an argument, as they had the "perfect night."

She was also sleeping when he woke up from the alarm that he set, then did not set.

So Barry taking off after an argument doesn't work for those two reasons alone. There are many more.
I do suspect there was a blow out argument on Friday night.

He knew he had work to finish on Saturday morning. So if he 'took off after an argument', it would have been late Saturday am after BM and MG finished at the river worksite. But he didn't take off after they finished their work. Instead he went home to murder Suzanne.

No merit to the argument he took off after a fight. He didn't even take off after he went home on Saturday. If he took off mad after an argument, why did he wait until approx. 18 hours after Suzanne's last 'proof of life' to take off?

Me smells a Rat... please add that to the animal zoo:D

IMO, JMO and etc.

ETA - to adjust time frame - approx. 13 hours after SM's last contact.

I like a podcast called Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan.
He’s a forensic scientist who is often a guest on @Tricia ’s Websleuths’s YouTube Live. Very fascinating stuff. Some of it not for the faint hearted but he knows his stuff.

My better half hunts. He finds vultures to be extremely efficient at "elimating" entrails and picking a skeleton clean. He then composts the bones for the calcium. This works on our acreage--no visible neighbors--and during deer season when it's cold outside.

Our larger community use to have a managed hunt and composted the undesirable bits using a method they found on the New Jersey highway department website. It describes what the state does with all the roadkill on the turnpike. Basically, they make an industrial sized compost pile with wood chips.

Thank you for the information.
@Hoss569 - I think you are local. Is there any place like this around?
Maybe locals know of one by word of mouth?
I can Google, don't know what I would call it.
Pit of Hell?
