I don’t think there’s any chance of BM taking the stand. There won’t be any Law & Order TV show angry outbursts from the Defendant. IMO
But there’s one witness who certainly rattles BM and I hope he is on the stand ALOT.

Agent Grusing said #BarryMorphew mentioned multiple times during the investigation that "This is in God's hand. He allowed this whole thing to happen."

Agent Grusing and #BarryMorphew are just staring at each other as the state talks between themselves to figure out any more questions for Agent Grusing.

Yup. Page 50:

When questioned about the job sites on Saturday, May 09, 2020, Morgan stated she recalled an odd comment made by Barry. Morgan explained after they completed the "beach" at the "river house" (6962 CR 105, Salida), she rode with Barry to the next site. Morgan stated she commented pigs could eat an entire human body in two hours. Barry commented that he would be able to "bury a body" and it "would never be found."
Thank you, MassGuy....the context of that is chilling, imo.....and hopefully the jury will get that connection. That goes to BM's frame of mind on Saturday prior to returning home....only to walk through walls and make SM's means of communicating go dark permanently, including and after the last proof of life.

I just wonder if he hadn't made up his mind at that point. It strikes me as odd that he would be that reckless, unless he was merely entertaining the thought of murder at that point.

I think things escalated in the ensuing hours.

THIS is so true. You usually don’t tell until you get out. You are ashamed because you feel weak, like your soul is destroyed. If Defense counsel tries to say Suzanne never told anyone, I hope the DA brings in experts on abuse. Or, they can just call me. Lol. Seriously, the posters who deny she was abused just aren’t knowledgeable.

Absolutely! Think about it, if your family thinks he is a great family man (and it seems her family liked him even if they thought he controlled money or other things that might be annoying, but not a deal breaker) then why would she tell them how he really was? Many don't because they think the person will change, they don't want their family to think badly of their spouse, they feel ashamed that this is the person they chose or like it's their fault and they chose this so they are stuck with it.. etc. It seems her family recognized Barry did some some things that bothered them, but maybe to keep the peace they loved him anyway.. isn't that what most people do? We know the good and the bad, but we choose to love others? If they knew he was physically abusing her or that the control with money was to the level it was, I don't know that they would have stayed quiet. So I can see how people had an unfavorable view of him, but were still shocked when she texted that he was physically abusive... she had just decided to leave and told him. That in my mind is the difference. SHE DECIDED TO LEAVE... she didn't have to sugar coat Barry anymore, she could tell her family exactly what was going on.

Exactly. He would never allow that to happen.

In the back of my mind....I recall somewhere when Barry was commenting on his hunting skills..and implied that he didn't miss when he shot at his prey (possibly the deer tranqing talk with LE). I can really see that as being a bedrock principle of his...almost as if missing his mark was a sin. I think that primative need for conquest and victory carried over with Suzanne...and became an imperative..i.e. he absolutely had to live up to one of his core bedrock principles...the prey does not escape under any circumstances. That principle was greater than the sum of Suzanne's life and her rights in life.

100% agree! I know some here have already mentioned watching how Agent Grusing operates because you caught him on a crime documentary or in actual trial footage, just as I have, and let me tell you…he is one cool cat! To say he has a confident, factual and structured upper hand in his assessments and due diligence is putting it mildly. He is a pro and I think without a doubt, he will intimidate the hairs off of BM when he is on the stand.

When I grow up, I want to be just like Agent Grusing!

I don't think it's about confidence in the outcome of the case, it's confidence in Barry's guilt - there is no other reasonable explanation for what happened to Suzanne than what prosecution are saying - Barry murdered and hid her body. No one has put forth a counter argument that is reasonable and indicates something else, no one has put forward reasonable arguments for Barry's lies, Barry's forgetfulness, Barry's shifty behaviour, Barry's downright disgusting and disrespectful behaviour to his missing wife (that's jmo though)

I understand this isn't how a court of law works and no other theory needs to be presented or even be possible for someone to be found innocent, but THIS is my biggest issue with anyone other than Barry doing it. I could believe he had help. I can't believe he lied so much and lied about things that just would not matter if his wife was missing and he did nothing.. it's like the dumb lies are what baffle me most. Where he was when he got a call about her being missing? ZERO reason to lie about that. Being in a hotel room vs a job site does not make him look guilty unless he was feeling guilty about something and needed to look more "busy" doing actual work at that exact time.. it didn't take attention off of him and instead pointed the figure right at him when camera footage showed where he really was. Lying about their marriage.. nobody cares if they had issues.. she's missing and if he really felt she was abducted, who cares if the police know you had issues? Lying about setting an alarm and what time you woke up? Only someone trying to hide something lies about that.

If anyone other than Barry did it, we have to believe he is just a pathological liar because that is w who he is.. just likes to lie about everything all the time. Sorta contradicts the religious family man idea he puts out there. So all the things we know about Barry are still true, even if someone else harmed her. If we believe the nice innocent church going family man is a pathological liar then it's not a stretch to believe he killed her.

Just thinking about the pig comment. Are there any hog farms near Salida?

Dunno, but I personally give that a 0 percent chance of factoring in here.

This was just Barry musing over how to get rid of a body.

  • #911
Yup you're right. I forgot how extensive the search warrant was. Boy, I'd love to know what was found, as much of it occurred several weeks after Barry's arrest, and obviously wouldn't be included in the AA.

My gosh there is so much to unpack and revisit in just those 2 pages alone!

The last sentence on the 2nd page was most interesting…(paraphrasing) prosecution will continue to pursue the SD relationship narrative as a motive in this case.

Doesn’t that allude to a relationship between BM & SD in place before the murder if it is being investigated as a motive in this case?

Grusing doesn’t need to intimidate BM. It’s IE and DN he will be up against.

but… no doubt Agent Grusing has this.

I am curious about what prompted MG to say that specific statement. Were they talking about true crime, was a true crime podcast playing in the truck.. what were they talking about that day that lead to her talking about that?

I remember a news story a few years back. Crime family in Italy decided to be rid of someone for some deed he had done. They fed him live to two pigs. I understood it was horrific.

@MassGuy

Regarding bury a body statement to MG...

Yeah it is odd.
Why broadcast what you're about to do?

I also find it interesting that Barry sent the text to Suzanne that he was done and headed home. Why give her a heads-up considering he was likely spying on her?

Back to what he said to MG though...
I think it was a throwaway comment at the time.
In what would be a great coincidence the Barry that arrived home a few hours later was the hot headed version.

Edit:
Was attempting to respond to your previous post.
Not doing too well at replying today

I really believe he was seeing her before. That second device shows up in Nov while they are in Mexico I believe it was.. not out of the question that he needed to call his secret lover also.. that is when he was accusing Suzanne too and chasing her around the resort. Maybe his own guilty conscious talking there? He gets this device so he can communicate with SD.

Yes, iirc @Scootie98
MG initiated by saying pig(s) could eat a human body in two hours to which BM replied he could bury a body that wouldn't be found
What a truly bizarre conversation to have with someone...kinda makes you wonder what they were talking about that made MG say that....to be followed up by Barry's comment.

Right!! I love true crime and discuss it often with friends. Some friends are not much into it and others are just as interested. We have discussed the most bizarre crimes and the pig theory has came up in a couple of them. Trying to remember which ones because it feels one is more recent. Could have been a current case that was in the news they were just making casual conversation and then he pops off with THAT comment. It must have been odd enough for her to remember even before Suzanne was missing because she recalled it to tell the police.

When the search warrants were issued on SD, Barry ‘s AA had not been completed. Is that correct?

So did LE have all the information on SD before his arrest or after? Sorry but I’m confused.
