Two days before #SuzanneMorphew was reported missing, she and her lover, Jeff Libler, were texting romantically. Morning of May 9 she texted “We need to be husband & wife” May 8 he says “You look good in biking gear babe. You need to be my wife.” The texting stopped 5/9.

I remembered him also casting aspersions on another employee, although he didn’t name him. Like Morgan and Jeff, Barry tried to discredit him by referring to past drug use.

Morgan and Jeff contradicted Barry’s alibi, and pointed out strange behavior.

No, those were taken long after, when the house was for sale.

The helicopter footage video that @Seattle1 posted earlier, shows them around the corner from that hot tub area.

first screenshot shows them at the very very edge on the lower left.
second screenshot shows them in the lower left quadrant, you can see the shadows they cast behind. I think there's a birdbath right there, too.
third screen shot shows the little stepstone walkway to that area around the corner (very left edge), from the hot tub area.



Not sure what time of day the helicopter shot this, too bad it's not dated with the time on the footage itself.
Maybe someone will want to use @24Brix graphic to figure it out.

So, anyway, this is where they were when LE secured the house. They may have been elsewhere on the 9th, and BM moved them, but not sure how likely that would be. And of course, we're not even sure (yet) if that's where she actually was.

Wondering if BM was a trusted caretaker to any of the AirBNB properties/neighbors and had access to their homes, vehicles, and ATV's.

I was just watching this video about the employee that @MassGuy posted about earlier.
@ abt 10:28 - (AM was saying) BM said that he got him (the employee) some work "here in the neighbourhood, keeping these Air B&Bs up."

When I heard that, I remembered your post -- so, good thinkin'!

Not sure how much access BM may have had (maybe just for outside landscaping only?) or whether the places were empty, or occupied at the time.
But, I guess then, we can rest assured that LE went all around those places, and dumpsters, too. Right? Would they have thought to check out any vehicles?

Still haven't finished watching the rest of it yet, but it's interesting watching it again, knowing what we know now.

Staging that helmet was really really dumb on BM's part. It makes an animal attack or an abduction very unlikely, the helmet should have disappeared completely if he wanted either of those scenarios to be plausible. And if it was found fastened? Explain that, BM.

My theory on the tranq darts? BM may have gotten the darts from the fire station, but I think he got the actual drug from elsewhere. Considering he knows so many "meth heads", I don't think it would be difficult. And I do wonder about substance use with BM. More than just steroids.

I also saw that the tweets from the courtroom said someone going missing while riding bike; i made that someone female in my write-up. I don't know... I was worried about this happening. Special Agent Ken Harris is on the stand now. He has been trained in the Behavioral Analysis Unit which lead him to being involved in this case. He was looking into #SuzanneMorphew behaviors to help put pieces together. @KKTV11News

Agent Harris listened to the recordings from the spy pen that was apparently placed in #BarryMorphew truck. He says the recording plays several podcasts from forensic files episodes that they believe Barry was listening to during drives. @KKTV11News #SuzanneMorphew

He says one of the Forensic File episodes was about someone going missing on a bike ride.

Tables then turn to several more recordings about some of the conversations Barry and Suzanne had.

Texts say sometimes small things would just "set Barry off" and he would leave and come back and be fine. There was another time when #BarryMorphew allegedly brought their daughters into their arguments to pick sides. #SuzanneMorphew @KKTV11News

Harris says Sheila told them #SuzanneMorphew said she was possibly being physically abused by #BarryMorphew. She allegedly told Sheila he pushed her into a closet door and held a gun to her head, on a different occasion he allegedly would pin her on a bed.@KKTV11News

Sheila told investigators that #BarryMorphew would say things like "I'm going to tell the girls you don't love me." SA Harris says that is a control mechanism to try to put the girls against #SuzanneMorphew.@KKTV11News

Sheila allegedly began to ask #SuzanneMorphew to make a sort of "what if" list about what she would do after her and #BarryMorphew seperated. Texts show Suzanne told Sheila, Barry wanted her to be the bad guy and he wanted to look good. @KKTV11News

SuzanneMorphew allegedly continued to tell #BarryMorphew that she needed peace and wanted out. Says she wanted to wait until their daughter Macy was out of the house. @KKTV11News

Sheila and #SuzanneMorphew talked about a time when Suzanne would talk about leaving #BarryMorphew would ask her who would pay for her medical bills from her cancer treatments. @KKTV11News

Sheila told SA Harris that #SuzanneMorphew was in the middle of her chemo treatments while she and #BarryMorphew were fighting. @KKTV11News

Sheila and #SuzanneMorphew talked about how Suzanne's youngest, Macy, encouraged her to get a divorce and said that Suzanne should get a restraining order against #BarryMorphew if she needed. @KKTV11News

BarryMorphew would allegedly not talk to #SuzanneMorphew about divorce. In a text to her friend she said he begged for another chance, she was torn but said "in my heart I know who he is."

I really find it hard to believe that Sheila did not know about Suzanne's affair....or at the very least, that she was looking around for male companionship. This is supposedly her best friend who she talked to constantly. In fact, it would seem that the constant communication with JL would have been detected by Sheila.....idk....

If he used one of the big darts from the firehouse (and I think he did), it was designed to bring down bear and mountain lions. So she could have been nearly comatose.

Personally, I think he used the first half an hour after tranquilizing her to access her phone and read all the messages from JL and so forth. He would then know that it was JLs idea that she get a mountain bike - and that some of her other pictures had gone to JL.

The rage he then feels allows him to continue with the rest of his plan.

I too think he shot her with the tranquilizer...I don't think she saw it coming....and the movement around the house was the brief panic she had after being shot with the dart....She may have even thought it was a bullet...pure panic...no ability to think it through and maybe lock herself in a bathroom....he would have taken the door off the hinges, anyway. She had no chance, imo. Her panic, higher heart rate only expedited the drug kicking in. I agree with you, while she was out, he scanned through her phone. I think he smothered her as opposed to choking, because she was already deeply unconscious...I doubt there was a physical struggle...it wasn't necessary...I think he just chased her until she dropped...which, at 115 pounds..didn't take long.

I suspect he went back up to the roadway to throw the helmet during a second trip, after an original trip up there to place the bike over the hill. It was an afterthought. If the bike wasn’t visible from the road, and it was dark, he may have had to guess exactly where he had staged it. And he was driving, so as not to be caught pulled over on the road, and just tossed it out the window
As to not leaving clothes, I think he wanted it to seem she’d been abducted into a car, rather than attacked and assaulted on the roadside.

Barry thought he was such a good orchestra director.....people just follow his tune....the note to the store cashier mentioned the helmet....and Barry just had to make sure others danced to his tune. So he made the helmet available to match the note he wrote. jmo.

I just asked my wildlife management friend (a professor of wildlife management/exotic animal management) how this works. He says that National Forest Ranger staffs include people who are wildland fire certified and wildlife management certified. He says many people are both wildfire certified and wildlife management certified.

He also said that some of the darts they use in national forest firefighting can be lethal to humans and are very carefully stored and tracked.

Local firefighters work alongside national forest firefighting units where he lives (Northern California). They use the same NF facilities during wildfires and during wild fire training.

IIRC, one of the trainings that had been offered at the "Fire Camp" was wild land fire training. The program where my friend teaches offers a certificate in wildlife management in the summer wild land fire training program.

At the center where he works, they do get coyotes (and specifically want to get coyotes) so they can study them. They're sequencing coyote DNA throughout a wide region.




That lines up with what my friend is saying. He says there was quite a backlash to ketamine being administered by LE. He says it's a different type of dart for humans and doesn't think there are any fire departments or EMT's authorized to use ketamine up where he works, but he pointed me to some articles about its use elsewhere. Most firefighters where I live are also EMT's, and apparently in the states that do allow use of ketamine against humans, it's the EMT's who administer it:

The above article gives an overview of how ketamine affects its human subjects (the number of cases in Minnesota seems frighteningly high to me, and apparently EMT's are being ordered to do this...)

...Aaand we can add CO to the list of places that allows EMT's to use ketamine injections on humans...

Every single case I follow has some weird thing I'd never heard of before...I sure do wish we knew what the dosage on these particular darts might be (because EMT's would be carrying very different ones than the Wildlife Manager people).

CM/The Interview Room has always seemed to have an “inside source” somewhere in this investigation! I can’t count the number of times he has hinted at or given us clues to lead us to investigate areas of BM’s life, even showing up in Salida the night before BM’s arrest. (In My Opinion, I know not everyone’s cup of tea!)

Barry uses people…. Very common theme in his MO, whether it’s contract workers, friends, father-in-law or wife!

It would have been so easy for BM to get the drugs/darts from his friend with the large deer farm. I think the prosecution already knows where BM acquired the drugs/darts/etc. which we will hear on days 3 & 4 of prelim.

I did some quick searches, and there is lot of info on deer farms and use of tranquilizers/tranquilizer darts on the web, and very common for use on deer farms if deer need to be medicated, vet care, etc.

MOO I don’t think we have true verification the people who worked for BM were actually full-time employees vs contract workers. That’s why it’s thought be many on WS, BM acquired his PPP loan fraudulently based on 9 “employees” not contract workers.

I had posted this awhile back and it seems they do have them at some firehouses :

After hearing about the tranquilizer dart I wondered where he might have gotten a sedative to use with it. I wondered if maybe firefighters carried some sort of tranquilizing device when the fought wildfires to protect them against bears etc. In going down the google rabbit hole I came across this news article : Is Ketamine the New Police Weapon Against Black Lives? and within that article was this sentence: "In Colorado, 90 fire departments and emergency medical agencies can legally use ketamine to treat people who are agitated or aggressive." I wish there was a way to see if the firehouse that Barry belonged to was one of them!
