I do think he planned it, but he was running out of time. His daughters would, be back soon. By Saturday, he was under the gun (so to speak) and had to come up with a plan. The text message where he asked her to go on a hike with him bugs me. I keep thinking he wanted to get her to go to her predetermined burial site. By getting her out of the house, he would eliminate an potential crime scene there. I wonder if he had his dart gun in his truck ready.
It makes me think of the Dirk Grineder trial. He got his wife to go on a hike through Morse Pond with him, and he bludgeoned her to death by having all his supplies prepared at the site. He really messed it up though and went to prison.
I 100% agree that he was planning her death before he left the job site that day, and the hike was his first attempt. He declined the hike and said he was coming home at 11am, so he must’ve decided on a new plan. I think the dart was part of the plan either way, and as you said, was already loaded and ready-whether it was in the truck or in the garage waiting. The dart gun was working the month before bf BM’s own admission, so in my mind he disabled it after using so it wouldn’t be suspected.
_______
Chaffee County Sheriff's Undersheriff said the door frame of the Master's Bedroom looked like there had been a forced entry from outside of the room. He also mentioned a 22 caliver unspent shell found on
#SuzanneMorphew side of the bed.
________
I have a feeling the unspent bullet on the floor near Suzanne’s side of the bed came into play a different way.
I get the feeling BM shot her with the dart while she was outside sunbathing and a chase ensued. I think she made it to the MBR, locked herself in, and frantically tried to load a gun left on a bedside table? Maybe? Dropped a bullet in the process? BM broke in the door and overtook her there in the room.
______
I’ve run from an abuser and locked myself in a room and tried frantically to dial 911, only for the door to be broken in and the phone yanked from my hands. The door frame was broken in a similar fashion. It’s very possible given the fact that BM may not have noticed or realized Suzanne dropped a bullet while trying to load a gun to protect herself from him, as we was busy killing her and getting rid of evidence he knew about. Sloppy sloppy BM.
I need to read more about where guns were located when LE took custody of the home. Even if the 22 was in his possession, this theory could still hold up if he grabbed it from her but didn’t realize she dropped the bullet.
