That wasn't an abduction case.
People in cars hit cyclists every year. That's not in dispute.
Find where an adult cyclist has been hit, there's no evidence of that occurring, no blood, no skid marks, and the person has gone missing into thin air, for 6+ weeks.

IMO
Mickey Shunick was abducted while riding her bike in Lafayette, Louisiana. Brandon Scott Lavergne is serving time for her abduction/murder. It’s believe he spotted her riding one night, struck her with his truck then took off with her. She has a thread here on Websleuths. Her sister, Charlene (aka Charlie) is an advocate for the missing.

Edited to add more info:

At that point, Lavergne struck Shunick's bike with his truck and insisted she get in the truck. He somehow "enticed or persuaded" her to get in. The bike was placed in the bed of his truck. The two drove off and Shunick tried to use her cell phone to call for help. Lavergne took out a knife and threatened her. She responded by spraying Mace at him. She then fought him off, took his knife and proceeded to stab him several times with it. The court documents read:

(Lavergne) tried to grab the knife from Mickey, cutting tendons in his hand and/or fingers. Mickey fought with the much larger and stronger defendant who succeeded in taking the knife from Mickey. (Lavergne) then stabbed (her) at least four times and she fell over. [source]

Lavergne then drove to a cane field in Acadia Parish 30-40 minutes away, intending to dump her body and escape.

Suddenly, Mickey jumped up, with (Lavergne's) knife she had regained possession of and lunged at (Lavergne), stabbing him again in the chest. (Lavergne) pulled his semi-automatic handgun, which he had armed himself with, and shot Mickey in the head, killing her instantly. [source]

Is it unusual for information to be scrubbed, is it done intentionally? Moo
I think that when news agencies become aware of something they have published being untrue, they remove it. That's just good journalism. My comment was more directed toward the unusual amount of "scrubs" in this particular case. It's hard to give a link when the link no longer contains the information that you thought it did. IMO

If this search happened on 15 May that closed down the highway - IMO, I believe they were looking for her body & more evidence after her personal item(s) was found. They only wanted LE and invited resources on scene. IMO
It's impossible to say what they were doing. Mile Marker 190 to Mile Marker 210 is all of Monarch Pass. IMO

There is a picture of Suzanne wearing a blue tank top. She has her right hand next to her head as if she's leaning on it. I noticed she's wearing what looks to be her wedding rings on her right hand. Might be nothing, but just struck me as strange because, well, she's missing. Wonder if she had an injury to her left hand or fingers that would cause her to wear her rings on her right hand. Or something...
The image is mirrored because of the camera setting in the phone that took the picture.

Interesting read, thanks. They did find both Sierah and the suspect pretty quick. The clues certainly pointed to an abduction or murder, also-the bloody sock at the scene. They ruled out the boyfriend quickly, and also another suspect. It appears their canvass of the area made them focus on the killer, who admitted being on that road, still had scratches, and left some things at the scene.

Did BM show up that night full of scratches? Were his answers as to his whereabouts vague? Could he have been elsewhere, with someone else, and they already had an inkling? Did his truck have paint on it that was the same as the bike? Did LE find the way that this missing person was reported to be odd-maybe they have more info on how the neighbor ended up getting involved? What exactly did the neighbor say when she made the call? Why are they not releasing the 911 call?

This has nothing to do with feelings; feelings aren’t facts.

I’m reading law enforcement’s behavior, and it’s clear to me they are focused on one man. I don’t think they’re wrong.
You're absolutely right! I think it's just a matter of time til they get their guy.

Now, how often are these abducted off bike cases occurring?

A couple a year? Maybe?

LE obviously doesn't believe SM was hit or abducted. They know more than we do.

I agree partially w what you are saying. Most of these cases it’s just a crime of opportunity. The killer was angry at his girlfriend, driving around in a rage, and there she was, anyone in a vulnerable position.
In this case, SM May have been stalked, and her bike riding hobby was just a means to the end. There are cases where killers do target older women. Then again, SM didn’t look her age. IMO
I don’t think he hit her, I believe he caused an accident.

If they lived with them.
Each of them did, for a long time, though. I'm sure they must know the essence of the spousal dynamics, as far as they were privy to. I think that's very important and I'm sure LE does too.

The bike could show evidence if it was hit.

https://www.crime-scene-investigator.net/CApaint.pdf

3. It is sometimes possible to obtain the make, model and year of a vehicle from a paint transfer. This is particularly possible when Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) paint, representing several layers, has been left at the scene. In addition, broken lenses or other vehicular parts that are present are useful in make/ model searches and they should always be submitted to the laboratory along with any paint evidence

Just a question since we’ve speculated on whether or not SM and BM were actually still living in the same house. In the first pic, her “rock” is on her right hand, and in the second on her left. I have to wonder, which is the most recent photo? Hmmmm.

When a phone is used to capture a photo it gives you a mirror image. Both photos show the ring on her left hand. She parts her hair to the left, which all photos reflect.

I encourage everyone to get on Google Earth and have a look at the lay of the land. If you copy and paste these coordinates in the GE Search window, a red bubble will drop at the spot that I marked as "TD met BLM here":

38°32'23.61"N, 106°14'33.28"W

The only landmark that is difficult to spot in aerial view is the Fooses Dam Bridge. It's coordinates are:

38°32'15.93"N, 106°15'20.46"W

Thank you, this helps.

When BM is speaking about the bike, is he facing East? There’s a significant distance to the river. The tree can’t be too far from the road if he points to it directly from the road. One seems to stand out from the google image.

BBM

Is that a common scenario?

It’s far more common for women to be killed by someone they know than a stranger. In the scenario where a bf/husband gets angry at gf/wife, he’ll much more likely kill her than a random woman.

OP said:
--Surprising number of cases
--Women hit on bikes and abducted
-- Women never found

What do you mean never found? The bike? The rider?
