Where did this information come from- LE, or the nephew?
I've only seen reference to "last seen in this helmet" on a missing poster that states the $200,000 reward offered by the husband & friend.

I didn’t hear anything about a bicycle helmet in this video.

The nephew sounded a bit overexcited and breathless to be interview but he did not sound scared to me.

I really hope this does not have the same ending as Jennifer Dulos.
I was thinking the same thing and mentioned it upthread. I swear, some of these criminals get their ideas from crime shows or previous cases they've heard about. Probably took cues from Fotis Dulos spreading the evidence out. Who knows what else LE has found that they haven't mentioned.

I've been looking and I can't find an article that says "for training" and it's really bugging me.
Normally I have no problem finding MSM articles but for some reason, this one is elusive.
I was sure I read that too, or something similar to that, but just cannot find it now.
:(

ADMIN NOTE:

It was not in MSM. It was a post earlier in Thread #1 that was removed but got re-quoted. Not sure we can go all that far back to remove, edit, clean up all the responses (and responses to those responses).

Above is for the record going forward. If other posts make reference to it, we would ask all members to report such posts so we can remove them in a timely fashion. Thanks !!

One item from about 2000 feet from home.
For those, like me, who can't picture how far 2000 feet is,

2000 feet = approx 0.38 mile

Assessor

I don't usually spend time on details like this, but the location and the surroundings of the Morphew home, and maybe some of the information, seems pertinent in this case.

I posted a retraction of my comments:

I was looking at the house on Mountain Spur road

I’m sorry for the confusion

PS A HOA fee of $27 a month isn't gonna cover snow removal in that climate. It won't even pay to have the snow removed from the mailbox alone. Trust me, living at nearly 700o ft elevation in the mountains I know.

I wonder how weird that actually is.

Here's what NG said about the tracking dogs being inconclusive: "we know that tracker dogs have been brought in, yet no resolution"? She goes on to talk about the Lacey Peterson's case.

I'd take NG's comment with a grain of salt. IMO, she is speculating that the results are inconclusive because Suzanne has not been found.

We don't know what information LE gleaned from the tracking dogs and neither does she. MOO.

Did anyone make a map of the search areas? Do we even know them?

Hwy 50 is well traveled. If it is true that a bike was found in one area, and a personal item located further up towards the pass, then there is no way in my long-time Coloradoan opinion that this dispersal of items occurred on Sunday, Mother’s Day. These items just look like planted red-herrings by someone extremely stupid who thinks if I throw stuff out towards the pass, maybe they won’t realize I was traveling in the opposite direction.

Jmo re: the nephews involvement/searches.

having been involved myself with a case listed here on WS, I can tell you this: in the beginning, state police here in PA actively stopped us from searching. State Police however, did NOT search nor did they ask SAR to search.
when I say they “actively stopped” us from starting searches on our own, I mean they threatened us with arrest. -we still searched but smaller groups.
The police thought the person just “walked away or harmed themselves”. Fast forward a month when the person didn’t Turn up but the car did they realized it was foul play involved.
The person is still not found and precious time was wasted.
But that is not the case here. LE has been searching all along in this case, even brought in the FBI and a couple of other agencies. < modsnip> LE are professionals, I don't think we've heard of the nephew having any training in this field.

<modsnip>

I am sorry for what you went through. It is hard when you have a loved one missing and LE doesn't help, but thankfully, that is not the case here.

I am just curious....
Why is LE providing so little detail (not telling us details of last contact or when last seen, etc.)?
They are apparently casting a wide net asking for tips?
Yet, not warning people to use caution on the trails, etc?
Trails are not shut down.

I am local yet naive to this process.
My heart goes out to her daughters.

Do we know who made that flyer? Was it LE material or distributed by a family or friend who made an assumption, ie SM went bike riding, in the past she always wears a bike helmet ergo she must be wearing the helmet?

Oh really now!!!!! That is interesting. Thanks for the answer, much appreciated.

I would love to know where they got this information myself.

But that is not the case here. LE has been searching all along in this case, even brought in the FBI and a couple of other agencies. So, in my opinion, the nephew is an idiot, revealing what LE is finding and interferring with what LE is doing in searches. LE are professionals, I don't think we've heard of the nephew having any training in this field.

She wasn't even missing two days when he started this crap.

I am sorry for what you went through. It is hard when you have a loved one missing and LE doesn't help, but thankfully, that is not the case here.
You’re right. Unfortunately, sometimes to people involved, it often seems that not enough is being done.
Clearer heads can see that things ARE being done behind the scenes but when you’re IN IT... well.

Do we know who made that flyer?
Not for sure. I would speculate and assume it was the nephew and/or family because it is posted to the “Find SM” FB page. JMO i am not aware for sure. ETA: It was also featured in the video of the nephew’s interview.

Where did this information come from- LE, or the nephew?
It's from the missing poster in the video interview - I don't know who created the poster, but that's pretty specific.

I didn’t hear anything about a bicycle helmet in this video.

The nephew sounded a bit overexcited and breathless to be interview but he did not sound scared to me.

It's in the video - pause on the flyer shot. His almost crying is what I'm referring to. He sounds very scared to me. As you would be in that situation. Poor guy.

Do we know who made that flyer?
I don't know who made it -- the bottom portion of the flyer references the $200k reward. I see the flyer on the "Find Suzanne Morphew" FB page. I'm a little confused about what we can post re social media so I hope my reference to that FB page is ok.

We always need to be careful to not cast aspersions at innocent people. For those members who are suspicious that someone was out of town the day Suzanne disappeared, please also consider that it may have happened because someone knew that person would be out of town and Suzanne would be alone.

On another note, anyone have any ideas on why Department of Corrections would be involved in the search?

  • #399
They say in the presser that they want people to call the tipline if they have any info about Suzanne or who saw her sunday. But we don't even know what she was wearing right?
If no one was with her, or saw her that day, they may not know. Some families can pick through a wardrobe and say what may be missing, but maybe that's not the case here?

We haven't seen any mention of video, so I assume there is none. Very odd this case ...

I would love to know where they got this information myself.
Or if it's even accurate info. Was someone speculating because she usually wears that helmet?
