Not to mention the media coverage this case got. This will follow those poor girls forever.

Does spouse ever think the children will be robbed of both parents? Nope. Just horrible situation.

Anybody watching the local jail for suspect arrest?

  • #484
If they find something and if it is a job site could it be a frame?

  • #485
Even though I was sure the suspect was a certain person, it will still surprise me if he actually buried her at one of his work places! Did not see that coming.

Not surprising considering the wildlife in the area includes many bears, mountain lions, bobcats, turkey vultures, eagles, coyotes and many other animals that would disturb and dig up a body someone would try to hide.

I'd lean towards the use of more delicate tools and specialist teams and observers in a suspected recovery case -- really closer to an archaeological dig, and sometimes using expertise and personnel from that field (forensic strand).

I speak from unfortunate personal experience, though this was in Canada, and some years ago.

Thanks. Yeah there may be more specialized tools for the task.

Especially when Colorado has vast areas where a body would never be found

Sounds like a potentially complex recovery scene. They may put up lights and go through the night, or maybe even resume tomorrow, we will see. Jmo.

Imagine an archeological excavation, carefully and meticulously collecting every single...

If there is a whole piece of concrete, maybe they will take the whole section to the lab if they get a hit, which it sounds like they have... Or will they instead fully excavate on site?

:(

Those poor girls. :(
Since this was a residential area i am picturing a small space like driveway or deck. I am hoping they will dig and just find what they are looking for. Also denver does not have the foundation issues that other parts of colorado has. This means he would not have had to dig deep and install extra support beams to hold the concrete in place. I am thinking he was there to pour concrete over soil. That should make for an easier recovery.

Maybe I missed it, but with all this talk about concrete, does anyone have a link that verifies they are searching in or under concrete?

I felt sick after reading over what I just wrote.

IMO - they planned to keep this quiet until they couldn't and now everyone is swarming to that location and they really will have to consider doing a presser. I can't see how they will let all this speculation take place for the family's sake. It seems to me they have not found the entire remains yet. I'm sorry to have to type that but if they have been digging for sometime - and have used some equipment to see what's behind the cement... well.. it's not going to be good.

They are searching in two places, correct?

If it turns out the way it looks, I would love to see a conversation between the perp and Chris Watt. Would be fascinating to hear the thought process, and the journey from thinking one could get away with something like this, up to the point where the interrogation finally leads to a confession.

Can you imagine being the homeowner where they are excavating??

I considered that a while back. A worker or contractor with a major grudge, against both of them.

Nothing confirmed but speculation is based on all the smoke/dust that appeared in the photo's.

Just another local-ish news Twitter to follow: (formerly home of our favorite reporter, Sam Kraemer)

Chaffee County investigators, CBI and FBI are searching a residential property east of Salida in the search for Suzanne Morphew, who went missing on Mother's Day.

ETA: Oops, @PommyMommy of course already posted that tweet. ;)

Could easily be done without an accomplice, depending on what kind of job it was there is usually different kinds of damp proof, weather proofing layers that go down first, thick plastic sheeting etc before the concrete is poured on top, he could have easily hid the body underneath this before calling in a concrete truck to come and pump concrete and they would never know.

Exactly, throw some poly down/done.
