Would it be made public if there was a search warrant involved with this vs. the land owner consenting? I'd be surprised if this is a fishing expedition either way (seems like a lot of manpower to chase a maybe?), but obviously if there is a search warrant involved they would have something to show probable cause. MOO.

If it is allowed I can't get that photo out of my thoughts. The big square concrete piece missing from the slab. Can anyone tell where those buckets of dirt are coming from that they're sifting through? I see a ton of dirt there!

Also, in order to prevent the concrete from cracking, the soil is compacted before the concrete is poured. I believe that's why there appears to be so much more dirt than would seemingly fill that size hole. MOO.

PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD

Tricia wants members to know that she feels very badly that anyone was upset by the thread specific decision she made yesterday to allow discussion of the rumors in this case. She will revisit this matter as the situation warrants.

The Sheriff has specifically stated that Suzanne’s body was not found and Barry has not been arrested. Accordingly, Tricia has reversed the decision to allow discussion of any of the three rumors, specifically that:

- Suzanne’s body was found
- there is a mistress involved
- that Barry was arrested

Do not discuss those rumors.

The thread is open once again for members to discuss the case details within the regular WS parameters (i.e. as we believe them to be factual via MSM and LE).

Thank you.
No need to feel bad about making a decision. Yesterday- between the Herald , social media, and youtube channels, we were deluged with info including live video of a dig , media rushing to site all breaking while our great moderator was cleaning up after us! Once it opened we were so far behind the latest our poor gal made a call to allow discussion. God bless her and this page and look how great it is being here and not the other places as we try to find Suzanne. Thank you websleuths, I felt so bad last night for Moderators -but I feel good now we are back n track. Let today be the day daughters get closure.

Agreed! This isn’t a quick and easy “let’s dig up a small area of ground” scenario. The manpower and equipment being utilised demonstrates this is not a small task and tells me that they know exactly what they’re looking for. MOO

I think they’d need a real good reason to do the amount of damage they are doing. It has to be expensive.

What's worse is I just had an area compacted in my backyard for a small patio as my dogs have run ruts. Now I told the hubby to watch the men! Paranoia setting in. Geez. Moo

Just want to say that I tried to find out if yesterday's search had resumed this morning. Checked out multiple sights. OMG. I have so much more appreciation for Websleuths now. Sorry when I've gotten out of line with TOS. MOO

Good info from CBS4 Denver's Rick Sallinger posted at midnight last night.

"The property owner confirmed to CBS4’s Rick Sallinger that Suzanne’s husband was hired to lay dirt on the riverfront land, located east of Salida.

The owner of the property told CBS4’s Rick Sallinger that he has known Barry Morphew for three weeks. The riverfront property was undergoing improvement. Concrete was laid over the dirt."

ETA: "The property owner has told others that investigators have been using an x-ray type device to try to see through the concrete."

BBM. Much as we have speculated here.

I think it's from under the big square they removed.

It looks to me like it's going to take at least another day or two to process that area, and if it's not exactly right, many more days as they move methodically to the next area. Even if they're onto something, we might be waiting for a while. Hard for them and terrible for the family waiting.
And LE stated they will not be providing updates until after the search is complete. Might need to practice our patience.

It happens to new members and veterans of this site. We all want a positive outcome. I'll say it again, stranger to stranger crime is very rare. MOO

LE seemed to be very precise in the square of concrete they cut out, yet are using a sifter on the dirt underneath. How did they choose that particular square and not a square 15 feet away?
Did someone tip them to that particular spot or did they use ground radar to choose the spot? And, if they used either method to choose that particular spot, wouldn't you think they would have found something? This is making me nuts !

Agreed! Social media is changing the news landscape so quickly and it's a tough call when it appears that seemingly reliable information is being scooped by non-MSM sources. I have faith that the WS owner and moderators will do their best to navigate the new landscape while keeping the integrity of this great site.

LE does not have to let us in their investigation and this search will take awhile. Disruption of concrete and sifting for evidence is a lot harder than digging in dirt. JMO

I personally believe they are digging under the white tent that can be seen under the trees, the photos of them digging show a white tent with all that lumber behind them. looks like they are also digging under the square of concrete under the navy tent... so possibly two areas of interest?

Thank you to @Tricia and @sillybilly and other mods for all your hard work during this, you are appreciated!!!
I think the area under the tent is their working station, where they are sifting through the dirt at sifting tables. I don't think they are digging under the tent area, from what I can tell....though it's hard to know for sure, of course.
