All of this is just horrendous. NL's death also breaks my heart. This woman, it appears, gave up everything for her son. She never remarried. She gave up her career. I don't doubt that it cost her marriage and cost her much, if not all, of her relationship with her older son. (IMO from reading "reports" since it is easy to draw the link if RL hadn't seen his brother in such a lengthy time, he also had not seen his mom since she couldn't leave him alone.) A friend who's blog we linked here before even said that she was willing to pack up and go wherever he went if he got into college so that she could care for him.
All of us parent differently. All of us have different kids. It's easy to armchair quarterback. But, she, as most of us parents do, was likely doing the best she could. Did she make mistakes? Yes. Do we all make mistakes in parenting our children? Yes.
In the end, her dedication to him cost her her life.
May she have peace now. She earned it.
All, of course, IMHO.
I agree with you and just want to say that tho, I have personally put forth several posts that's primary focus was on mom, her being an avid gun collector, and emphatic questioning about what security measures were in place in the home.. and I still believe that to be a very important key issue THAT IMO IS COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE GUN CONTROL ISSUE..
IMO its an issue that's very relevant to this case, but in my bringing forth such discussion my intent is in no way to put this mom in a bad light..that is not at all my personal intent.. so, I just wanted to be clear in why I personally am one who continues to broach this particular subject that involves mom and that my intent is not to imply any negativity per se regarding mom, but rather discussing the safety measures that IMO she very likely did in fact have in place and believed to be sufficient in protecting her son from himself, as well as protecting herself and others from any dangers WRT her gun collection..jmo.
A 'Very Positive Mom'
Former neighbor Ryan Kraft
remembered Nancy as a very positive mom, who was focused on getting them [her sons] what they needed and what they wanted.
Kraft recalled one anecdote from just a day or two after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
A day or two after [Nancy] went to Home Depot, to Lowes to all the hardware stores in the area and spent probably $3,000 on gloves and mittens and coats and drove them down to New York, he said.
She was that kind of person: would do something and act immediately if she could help.

Thanks for posting and highlighting this, Ms Facetious.. It stung my eyes with tears as I read it because IMO this is the proof positive that this mother, who is a victim herself, was a good mother, was very caring, and giving to others as well.. including teaching her sons to give of themselves to others when in times of crisis such as 9/11..or natural disasters as we see so much of these days..
It made me think that had this happened and the shooter have been someone else's son other than Nancy Lanza's and she was alive and well at this moment in time while her community is in such a state of shock, sadness, and despair.. IMO I haven't a doubt that this mother, Nancy Lanza would be one of those who was out there in her broken community, hands on helping and giving of herself in any way that she possibly could for those families with loved ones lost..
The above article IMO brought about the much needed realness of who and what this woman was as a person in this life, not only as just a mother, but as a giving, loving member of her community who, if alive in this situation would be one right there giving of herself and comforting her community in the tragic loss of some of their communities youngest, and most innocent citizens..
AGAIN, Thanks for posting!
I've been following along with everybody else during this unthinkable tragedy. I've wanted to post several times, but just didn't, and still don't have the words.... I've held up pretty well, getting a bit teary eyed but nothing major. This story did it for me. Those poor, poor children!... This little girl is truly amazing!
Yes, nephers ITA and while Ive been unable to contain my ever flowing emotions and river of tears in these last two days I agree that this emerging story of this young, little girl had the rivers flowing once more..
I know that some were perturbed, and even some appalled at this preacher having shared with the public/media this young girls story of survival as was told him by her family IMO..
I personally saw it a bit different in that I did not at all have any feeling of this being shared for the wrong reasons..whether it be for selfish gain..or whether it be told with lack of consideration for the young girl and/or her family.. IMO it was nothing of the sort, but rather quite the opposite in his wanting to share that in spite of the evil that was in that young girls presence...in that young girls very own classroom Friday morning..and despite that evil intention to figuratively and literally snuff out and extinguish all light from each of these young souls in that classroom that morning(in delivering multiple gunshots to each victim numbering from the least being 3 to the most being 11 shots in one of the victims)...
Yet despite such measures of true overkill taken in this person wanting to kill EVERYTHING GOOD AND RIGHT AND WHOSE LIGHT SHONE BRIGHT FROM THEIR SOULS ..despite his wanting to make extra damn sure that all of that which is good that was in his presence, his wanting it gone..snuffed out..dead..
Yet here is this beautiful little girl who it seems as tho, a combination of chance(f ya wanna call it that but IMO much different is that she was spared for a reason...a reason that may not be clear today, tomorrow, or next year).. a reason that she or others may not know or understand for many years to come...but IMO there is a reason that her little life was spared..which is just incredible especially when one looks at the evil determination and overkill of this individual...IMO it makes her survival all the more amazing..and IMO in this time of such despair, a story being shared of something so amazing as what this little girls story is..
Well...IMO only.. there was no negative intent or even the slightest lack of consideration on the part of this preacher..just the opposite, if not even in fact possibly encouraged by her family for the preacher to publicly share their daughters amazing survival ...whereas they as parents for whatever reason were unable to publicly tell their daughters amazing story of survival, but yet thought it may possibly be something of a tiny uplifting nature amidst all the pain and tragedy of the community at this present time...
But all of that of course is nothing but jmo and my own personal take on this preacher sharing this story publicly..nothing more, nothing less.
