Queen Elizabeth II once conducted her children's bath time while wearing her crown "to get used to how heavy it is" ahead of her coronation, King Charles III has revealed.

Her eldest son gave an insight into her practical attitude during a recent meeting with a group of Canadian women who had traveled to London for Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.

New documentary Coronation Girls follows 12 of the original 50 coronation girls as they returned to London ahead of the king's coronation in 2023 and during a tour of Buckingham Palace they had a surprise audience with the monarch.

Coronation Girls brought back together a group of Canadian women who were sponsored back in the 1950s to travel by boat to London for Elizabeth's coronation.

It showed them reminisce about how their lives have changed on a return visit to Britain, where they got a tour of Buckingham Palace and received an unexpected visit from the king.

He also shared his own memories of Elizabeth's coronation day: "My grandmother explained things to me while I was there. I can remember quite a lot—particularly what I was dressed in and what the barber did to me before."

"Queen of Christmas!

Camilla invites children with life-limiting conditions
to meet Santa
and decorate a tree in Clarence House.

During the event,
which has become a long-standing festive tradition,
the Queen chatted with children, decorated a Christmas tree, and handed out beautifully wrapped presents."

Not a happy thought, IMO.

Both Prince Andrew and Prince Harry could ascend the throne as things stand.

The article is for subscribers but the headline is worth reading on its own.

"The Royal Family's Christmas
has barely changed in the past 100 years -
they all cherish tradition
and see no reason why things should change with the times.
Nothing is left to the last minute...

There are changes this year.

The Wales branch of the family are not attending Sandringham but staying at Anmer Hall, with the extended Middleton family, for the holidays. They also did not attend King Charles Christmas luncheon with extended royal family members.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are staying at Royal Lodge.

For the first time, the extended family of Queen Camilla ARE attending the festivities at Sandringham.

Interesting.

However, despite the illness the King has retained his ranking of second place, having taken part in 186 royal engagements, while his sister, Princess Anne, was first, with 217 engagements.

The third hardest-working royal was named as the Duke of Gloucester, who had the biggest increase in royal engagements this year, from 113 to 126.

He was followed by the King’s youngest brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his wife Sophie, who did 126 and 124 engagements respectively.

The Queen, who has continued with a full programme of public duties in the wake of her husband’s diagnosis, came in sixth with 95 engagements.

In total, the analysis showed the Princess of Wales has carried out 11 public engagements since her return, while the Prince has undertaken 71 this year as he stepped back from a full workload of duties to support his wife and their three children.

Interesting.

The Wales switch between which families they spend the Christmas with, and they'll be with the royal family on Christmas Day for the walkabout.

And we all know the issues with Andrew.

Apparently, the Middleton family were invited to Sandringham by the King.

They declined.

I don’t get the impression there’s much ‘usual’ about this Christmas.

Most couples alternate between families but that’s not what the post was about.
