Awaited by crowds,
surrounded by flags and applause -
this is how King Charles III was welcomed in Krakow's Kazimierz on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The arrival at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) at 24 Miodowa Street was the highlight of the visit.

Charles III received a special gift there,
which astonished the British monarch.

King Charles III received his portrait.

Krakow kindergarten child gave him a card with the words 'Thank You'
and a child's hand-painted portrait of King Charles III.
The likeness amused the King greatly :)

After a brief stay in Krakow,
King Charles III travelled to Auschwitz
to become the first British monarch to attend the anniversary of the camp’s liberation."

More from Polish MSM

'King Charles III in Poland.

He delivered moving words.

Britain's King Charles III
attended ceremonies commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of
the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

He walked through the camp gate
and paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust by laying a wreath at the Death Wall.

In Block 5,
the King viewed the personal items that the prisoners brought to the camp.
Upon arrival, they lost all their belongings that they had managed to take from their homes after hearing the order to be deported.

For a long moment,
Charles III stared at the display case filled with suitcases.
When he looked at the children 's belongings and heard how many of them had disappeared,
he said that 'it is unimaginable'.

At the end,
Charles III went to the Death Wall.
The monarch laid a wreath and stood in silence
in front of the place where thousands of Poles, Jews and other prisoners of the camp were executed,
which became the symbol of Holocaust.

The King signed the guest book,
which is kept by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum."

"King Charles III
told Holocaust survivors it was
'sombre and sacred'
to be in Poland today as he became the first British head of state to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The monarch appeared to shed a tear
while he listened to the stories of those who survived the former Nazi concentration camp
as he sat with other world leaders
to mark 80 years since its liberation.

"Charles the NFL star!

The King beams

as he has a go at throwing an American football.

King Charles looked in high spirits
as he visited the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday,
and even had a go at throwing around an American football in front of athletes.

The royal, 76, travelled to the stadium in north London
to celebrate the positive socio-economic impact of the football club,
and its partnership with the NFL,
on the local community.

Charles must've felt like the team MVP -
as he was greeted with joyful screaming and cheering,
while confidently strolling onto the pitch.

He was also given an American football from Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans
by the NFL this afternoon."

:)

Delightful video and story. :)

The King has cancelled a series of engagements after suffering side effects from his cancer treatment that resulted in him staying in hospital for observation earlier today.

Buckingham Palace said the 76-year-old monarch was back at Clarence House this evening but has postponed engagements in Birmingham tomorrow after missing audiences with ambassadors earlier this afternoon…

The King and Queen’s state visit to Italy from April 7 to 10 is still expected to go ahead and it’s being suggested that this appears to be a minor, temporary problem.

There were new fears for King Charles’ health Thursday, after the king was briefly hospitalized after suffering “temporary side effects” following scheduled treatment for his cancer.

A number of engagements on Thursday were cancelled, and the palace said that they were cancelling a raft of commitments scheduled for Friday “as a precautionary measure.”

Not sure why King Charles was going to visit while undergoing his own cancer treatment.

Last thing he’d need is to pick up a respiratory ‘bug’ that nearly killed the Pope.

Glad that visit has been set aside.
