Chicken, cocktails and an ice cream bombe: What’s on the menu?published at 14:01
14:01

If you're wondering what sort of food gets served to guests at a state banquet - we've got those details for you.

Those attending will enjoy three dishes tonight from a set menu alongside a variety of drinks.

Starter: Hampshire watercress panna cotta with parmesan shortbread and quail egg salad

Main: Organic Norfolk chicken ballotine wrapped in courgettes with a thyme and savoury infused jus

Dessert: Vanilla ice cream bombe with Kentish raspberry sorbet interior with lightly poached Victoria plums
After the dinner, guests will be served specially selected drinks including a Vintage Port from 1945 - said to be a nod to President Trump who served as the 45th president during his first term.

There will also as be a Hennessy 1912 Cognac Grande Champagne served, which dates to the birth year of Trump’s mother.

A new cocktail has been created for the occasion a "Transatlantic Whisky Sour" – a twist on the conventional Whisky Sour.

The drink will be topped with a pecan foam and a toasted marshmallow on a star-shaped biscuit "evoking the warmth of a fireside S’more".

Now that is definitely a LONG dinner table!!

Melania looks nice enough but a lot are calling her out saying the dress isn't suitable for a state banquet which I kinda agree. The other thing is I wish Charles had kept Angela Kelly to dress because she always made Queen look lovely

But.. but... but... No hamburgers? PS. I am Canadian, and I like that Canada has a monarchy with the King as our head of state and not a president.

"King Charles III joked
how almost a royal 'obsessed' President Richard Nixon tried to arrange a wedding between him and his daughter in today's banquet speech.

:D

'This unique and important occasion reflects the enduring bond between out two great nations',
King Charles told the banquet.

'Anchored by the deep friendship between our people,
this relationship which, with good reason, we are our predecessors have long called 'special',
has made us safer and stronger through the generations'."

At the risk of being called mortally serious, it's quite a choice to reference Nixon when hosting an American president who faced impeachment. But, I'm sure it's a compliment.

Is that Tiffany coming in the doorway or someone who looks like her?
It hasn't been said any of his family are here which is weird because last time didn't they all come? It seems to be more of heads of businesses etc. Apparently Rupert Murdoch is there
