The monarch will take part in an ecumenical service in the Sistine Chapel with Pope Leo XIV
as they mark the Catholic Church's 2025 'Jubilee year'.

Traditionally marked every 25 years,
the Jubilee is a special time for the Catholic Church.

The visit will also mark a significant moment in relations between the Catholic Church and Church of England,
of which His Majesty is Supreme Governor.

Buckingham Palace said
it would be the first State Visit since the Reformation
'where the Pope and the Monarch will pray together in an ecumenical service in the Sistine Chapel,
and the first time
the Monarch will have attended a service in St Paul's Outside the Walls,
a church with an historic connection to the English Crown'.

The King and Queen will meet Pope Leo in the Apostolic Palace,
as well as Cardinal Pietro Parolin,
the Holy See's Secretary of State."

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor: No longer a prince, but is he no longer a threat to the British monarchy?

King Charles III's move to banish his brother was largely welcomed Friday by the British media, politicians and royal observers as a necessary, if overdue, intervention.

It’s the fourth attempt by Buckingham Palace to shield itself from the scandal over Andrew's ties to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and the king will be hoping it is the last...

Britain's Prince Andrew will have his royal titles formally removed and will move out of his home in Windsor, Buckingham Palace said Thursday, as the royal faces growing pressure over his ties to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement that King Charles had "initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours" of his younger brother.

"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor," the palace said, an escalation from measures announced two weeks ago, when it said that Andrew would stop using some of his titles, including the Duke of York...

London – Holding prestige but not power, Britain’s monarchy is finely tuned to public sentiment.

That's been evident with the disgrace of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, who was stripped of his princely title and his spacious home by his brother King Charles on Thursday, a banishment that has left the disgraced royal increasingly exposed to scrutiny both in the U.K. and the U.S. over his friendship with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Following years of scandals related to Andrew, Charles arguably took the biggest step of his reign by seeking to insulate the monarchy from any further scandals relating to Andrew and his connections with Epstein, who took his own life in prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges, more than a decade after his initial conviction...

LONDON (Reuters) -Members of a U.S. congressional committee investigating the Jeffrey Epstein case have intensified their calls for Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to answer questions about his ties to the late financier and sex offender, the BBC reported on Saturday.

There are a lot of thoughtful posts relating to this on the Prince Andrew thread.

You might want to peruse those.

More than 5,000 people sang the British national anthem in the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night to mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

The national anthem followed a two-minute silence to honour the fallen during which poppy petals fell delicately from the ceiling.

The royal family play a key role in the Festival of Remembrance.
The event is organised by the Royal British Legion
- of which King Charles was made patron last year.

"He gifted the sum of £50,900
via the privy purse last year
to the West Newton Roof Fund,
according to the church's latest annual financial report.

The Grade Two listed church is on the Royal Sandringham Estate, and the late Queen would often attend Sunday services at the chapel before her death in September 2022.

The church has previous regal ties
as the royal family have previously helped fund its restoration in the 19th Century when it fell into disrepair.

It was almost completely rebuilt in 1881 by architect Arthur Blomfield,
but it still retains its 14th-century tower and 15th-century font."
