:)

"King Charles
appeared in high spirits during the Sovereign's Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh today.

The 76-year-old is currently in Scotland for Holyrood Week,
where he spends time meeting Scots from all walks of life.

Upon his arrival earlier today,
Charles also took part in the Ceremony of the Keys
- an official welcome to the Scottish city."

LONDON — King Charles III led commemorations Monday on the 20th anniversary of the 2005 London transit bombings, the deadliest attack on the British capital since World War II.

Fifty-two people died and more than 700 were wounded when four British men inspired by al-Qaida blew themselves up on three subway trains and a bus during the morning rush hour on July 7, 2005. They were the first suicide bombings on European soil.

Two weeks later, four other bombers attempted a similar attack, but their devices failed to explode. No one was hurt.

The bombings remain seared into London's collective memory, and the anniversary will be marked with a ceremony at the 7/7 memorial in Hyde Park and a service of commemoration at St. Paul's Cathedral...

Just a thought here, anyone who wants to chime in is welcome, thanks !

Always curious why Queen Elisabeth 2nd didn't step down sooner ?
It seemed like King Charles had been trained to do the job his entire life, and why not let him take the reins before he turned 73 ?
Q. Elisabeth could have enjoyed a well-deserved retirement much sooner ?

It would be a retirement, not abdicating --as Edward 8th did to marry W. Simpson, correct ?

OMG, she looks the same as she did as a baby!
I have been told that I look like Princess Anne. My dad was Canadian, and his paternal ancestors came from Great Britain (England and Scotland). My baby pictures look a lot like Princess Anne.

Queen Elizabeth (not with an s) took a lifetime oath as Monarch.

She took that oath to heart, no requirement to ‘move over’ for Charles.

There is no retirement (that I am aware of) from the role of Monarch.

One can abdicate as Queen Margarethe did, thus passing on the crown to her elder son.

She also had titles removed from some of her grandchildren as they are no longer in direct succession.

The King and Queen were visibly emotional as 105-year-old veteran Yavar Abbas went off script to praise The King for attending VJ Day tributes despite his cancer.
Mr Abbas said: "Before I accept, I make no apologies for briefly going off the script to salute my brave King who is here with his beloved Queen, in spite of the fact that he is under treatment for cancer - an ailing that I share with him.""And if it provides any comfort, I've been rid for the past 25 years and counting. And I salute him for gracing this occasion, because by his presence here, he has gone a long way to make sure that his grandad's [King George VI] 14th Army is never given the sobriquet again The Forgotten Army."

Soldiers recognize duty and service when they see it.

Touching.

After an hour Johnson reappeared. “Boris was raving about her,” Harri said. “They obviously got on like a house on fire. He was making guttural noises about how much he admired and liked her. But the serious conversation they had was about her being the victim of an attempted sexual assault when she was a schoolgirl. She was on a train going to Paddington — she was about 16, 17 — and some guy was moving his hand further and further …” At that point Johnson had asked what happened next.

She replied: “I did what my mother taught me to. I took off my shoe and whacked him in the nuts with the heel.” Harri said: “She was self-possessed enough when they arrived at Paddington to jump off the train, find a guy in uniform and say, ‘That man just attacked me’, and he was arrested.”

I'm unsure it was their story to tell to be honest
