Maybe but ultimately it's about making more money

I don't think we can look at the State Visit solely through monetary value.

It is something more than this IMO.

It is about friendship between states/nations, people,
being allies through generations.

Hosts always try to treat their guests as best as they can.
It is savoir vivre and respect towards guests.

As the King himself said at the banquet:

"This unique and important occasion reflects the enduring bond between our two great nations."

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

Queen Camilla behaved with class IMO.

Taking part in such important state visit
(with Media avidly scrutinizing everything)
must be exhausting.

I think - as an objective foreigner - everything went smoothly and elegantly :)

The Royal Family rose to the occasion beautifully.

"Now that the banquet is over... what's next?

Tomorrow morning, Trump and Melania will formally say bye to the King and Queen.

Trump will then head to Chequers where he will meet Sir Keir Starmer and be greeted by a guard of honour from RAF Halton.

The two leaders will view the Sir Winston Churchill archives before holding a bilateral meeting.

They will join a business reception hosted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves and hold a joint news conference.

Meanwhile, Melania will view Queen Mary's doll house with the Queen and visit the royal library.

She will then join the Princess of Wales at Frogmore Gardens to meet Dwayne Fields, the Scout Assoiciation's chief scout."

Princess Katherine and Melania both are wearing "yellow", I wonder if it is a "nod" to Ukraine.

"Preparations for a state banquet started six months before the big event
and it usually takes household staff around three days to lay the table.

Guests - who have been invited on the basis of their cultural, diplomatic or economic links to the US -
dined on an exquisite menu, written in French, prepared by royal chefs and served on historic, priceless dinner sets.

Floral displays, crafted from seasonal flowers handpicked from the gardens at Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park.

After the banquet, the flowers are usually donated to Floral Angels, a charity of which Camilla is patron,
which delivers the blooms to hospices, elderly care homes and shelters.

The staff have started constructing the mahogany table almost a week ago.

Tablecloths and napkins - folded in the shape of a Dutch bonnet - cruet sets,
elaborate floral decorations,
priceless plates, candelabra and six glasses - for water, a champagne toast, red and white wines, a dessert wine and port
- all have carefully been put in order.

Every place setting must be precisely 18 inches apart - with measuring sticks used to ensure absolute precision.

Every chair is exactly the same distance from the table and each glass is the same distance from the front edge of the table.

Some 19 stations are set up around the edge of the room, each manned by four staff
- a page, footman, under butler and a wine butler - who use a traffic light system
to co-ordinate the serving of courses.

Detailed diagrams are used to illustrate the serving plans and a list of special instructions sets out any dietary requirements and requests for royals and other guests."

I think it would be fun to see the dollhouse and minatures! :) Does anyone watch the competition shows about minatures - there is one from England and another from Canada, if I recall correctly. I binged on them awhile ago, lol. But, I gained an appreciation for dollhouses.

Let's make the most of it while it lasts
Because we won't be invited again...)

"Upon arriving to the visit,
the King held Mrs Caterham's hand while he introduced himself.

Mrs Caterham,
who was was wearing gold fur-lined sequined slippers, a patterned sage dress and a pale pink shawl,
told him she remembered when the late Queen Elizabeth crowned him at Caernarfon Castle.

After the King expressed delight at her recollection of his 1969 investiture as the Prince of Wales when he was 21,
she added:

'And all the girls were in love with you
and wanted to marry you'."

The Princess Royal has visited a lingerie company where she tried to help solve a problem with its underwire bras.
Princess Anne was photographed unveiling a plaque amid sets of underwear at Edge o’ Beyond, as part of her role as president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association.

During the tour, she heard how the brand, based in South Wales, had faced a challenge in finding strong enough wires for bras in larger sizes.

Having recently visited a British mattress firm that makes its own steel springs, the Princess suggested that they should get in touch for advice on how to make their own wire supports.

Naomi De Haan, founder of the company, said the Princess was “very cool, very interested in everything”, adding that she “came across as very feminist”.
The visit concluded in the factory cafeteria, where the Princess was presented with flowers by Ms De Haan’s two eldest sons.

They had not expected the Princess to spend time in the cafeteria, Ms De Haan said, but she stepped in to talk to staff and was happy to unveil a plaque surrounded by sets of bras and knickers.
