Cybercriminals are now using COVID-19 as a scam tactic
''CTVNEWS.CA -- As cases of the novel coronavirus spread around the world, scammers are attempting to profit off of concerns and paranoia by posing as health officials in online scams.
On Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that cybercriminals are disguising themselves as WHO representatives in an effort to steal money and personal information from individuals and organizations.''

“If anyone is contacting by a person or organization claiming to be from the Organization, they should take steps to verify their authenticity,” the WHO said in a statement.

“WHO firmly states that it never does any of these things, and warns that scams can come in the form of emails, websites, phone calls, text messages, and even fax messages.”

According to its website, the WHO will never:
  • Ask you to log in to view safety information
  • Send email attachments you didn’t ask for
  • Ask you to visit a link outside of www.who.int
  • Ask you to donate directly to emergency response plans or funding appeals
The WHO notes that these types of scams are likely to continue as the new virus spreads around the globe. As of Monday, more than 88,000 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed worldwide, though the WHO stopped short of calling the outbreak a pandemic.''

I am trying my best to not go into panic mode. My husband went into "Stock Shock" Friday and he shut down any conversation on COVID-19. My daughter and I are prone to become obsessed with things and I am trying to stay positive for her...she is 27. I went to her house to feed her cats and she had a mega pack of TP equivocal to 42 rolls for 1 person. I have 3 roles. TBH I am waiting a few days to get supplies. I don't want to get swept up by crowd panic at the stores. Surely things will be restocked for awhile.

Trump’s Pentagon chief ordered military to not contradict president’s ‘messaging’ during coronavirus response

Trump’s Pentagon chief ordered military to not contradict president’s ‘messaging’ during coronavirus response

Esper told Gen. Robert B. Abrams last week that “he wanted advance notice before General Abrams or any other commander made decisions related to protecting their troops” from coronavirus.

Tie your generals' hands so as to make sure your 'messaging' is on the same page? Wow that's some kind o leadership.

So if 1 million tested by the end of the week, and we have 5 days left, that's 200,000 a day. If we see a 5% positive rate, that's 10,000 a day to test positive. So by end of week we should see 50,000 confirmed cases.... follow my math? Am I missing something?
I see this as a blatant lie by the FDA.

There is no way they can get 1,000, 000 people tested by the end of this week. I seriously doubt there are that many kits produced, already. I mean, they're a bit more complicated than 1,000,000 rolls of toilet paper !

And didn't we hear early on that any testing facility could only result 6000 tests in a 24 hour period, if they were working 24/7? That would take 167 days to result all those million tests.

So the math doesnt add up.

WS TP Police

Time for all WSers to come clean! Are you a TP hoarder? How many rolls are in your possession? How many family members are in your household? Single rolls? Double rolls? Mega rolls? How many TP rolls are too many?

I currently have 12 mega rolls for a household of 2.

HAHAHAHA

I have two of the Japanese Toto toilets which have three bidet settings with adjustable flow and water temperature settings, seat warmer, bottom drier functions. It's like of like a spa for your bottom. I can be a clean machine without having to rely on TP !

And I have about 60 rolls as backup.

There are now 106 cases of coronavirus in the US

There are 106 cases of the novel coronavirus in the United States, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local governments.

According to the CDC there are 48 cases from repatriated citizens. According to CNN Health’s tally of US cases that are detected and tested in the United States through US public health systems, there are 58 cases in 12 states. Bringing the total of coronavirus cases to 106.

This includes presumptive positive cases that tested positive in a public health lab and are pending confirmation from the CDC, and confirmed cases that have received positive results from the CDC.

Here's the state-by-state breakdown of the cases:
  1. Arizona – 1
  2. California – 20
  3. Florida — 2
  4. Illinois — 4
  5. Massachusetts — 2
  6. New York — 2
  7. Oregon — 3
  8. Rhode Island — 2
  9. Washington state —18 (includes 6 fatalities)
  10. Wisconsin — 1
  11. New Hampshire — 1
  12. Georgia — 2

It seems our state counts still need to be confirmed by CDC and not sure why there's
such a log jam in updating these state #s of cases.
Example: Fl. is listed w/ 2 confirmed cases
while Fl. Dept. of Health lists an additional
8 presumptive positive cases which would bring the total yesterday to 10 cases. Those
8 additional cases are waiting to be confirmed by CDC.

What the bleep...it sounds like we are freaking China all over again, making all the same mistakes they did! Instead of learning from them we just did the same things all over. Still don't know why we could not have simply used the WHO test kit that 57 other nations used...seems like arrogance on our part and perhaps a certain dislike for the WHO as a body, which I have heard from some parts of our political body...

To me, the really insane part to me is that the CDC said awhile back that they didn’t have a backlog in regards to testing, so WHY WASN’T SOME OF THIS TESTING BEING DONE THEN??? Makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever!! I can’t even fathom what the thought process was that resulted in this decision. Just ignore it and maybe it will just go away??

Ignorance may sometimes be bliss, but in this case it may be catastrophic....

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, has said authorities will requisition all existing stocks and future production of face masks in the coming months to help combat outbreak.

“We will distribute them to health professionals and to French people infected with the cotronavirus,” Macron said on Twitter.

Hand sanitisers and face masks have been selling out in French pharmacies in recent days, and some shops and online retailers have raised prices - prompting the finance minister, Bruno Le Maire, to ask France’s consumer and anti-fraud watchdog to open an investigation and warn that he could “regulate prices of masks and gels by decree” if necessary.

TBH, I have never understood bidets. Just don't they get germies flowing back down on their spout merely to squirt germs that live on those spouts to the next bum?

Now if that doesn't create a run on masks elsewhere, I don't know what will.

India is the BIG ONE I am worried about.

A patchy healthcare system with little access for poor families.

I agree - the impact in India could be really bad. I still think Syria could end up being the worst though. But maybe the ongoing war will help isolate them from the virus being introduced to the country.

There are definitely places in the world that will be more devastated than others. Just a bad situation all way around...

Washington senator says people in her state are scared

Sen. Patty Murray, from Washington, said she has been told to expect the death toll to increase after six people in her state have died from coronavirus.

Murray said people in her state are really scared.

“I’m hearing from people who are sick, who want to get tested, are not being told where to go. I’m hearing that even when people do get tested, and it’s very few so far, that results are taking way longer to get back to them," she said during the Senate health hearing on coronavirus.

“It’s unacceptable that people in my state and nationwide can’t even get an answer as to whether or not they are infected,” Murray said.

The first coronavirus case has been confirmed in Ukraine. The country’s health ministry confirmed the case in the western city of Chernivtsi on Tuesday.

Deputy health minister Viktor Lyashko told reporters in Kiev that a man exhibiting symptoms of the virus was hospitalised Saturday, three days after returning from holiday in Italy.

Lyashko said the man, whose condition was confirmed late Monday, is in a stable condition and that his wife is quarantined in their home.

I currently have 12 mega rolls for a household of 2.

I have 50 mega rolls ( Charmin). To be honest we shop at Costco and typically have a thirty roll pack on hand at all times. So I am 10 above my normal. We are a family of 2.

The Governor of Washington State should be able to demand the CDC and FDA provide testing kits to be used specifically to test all group care center AND their healthcare providers in order to determine if quarantine is needed.

This is indeed an emergency situation.

I'm not talking about testing an ambulatory population of low-risk people at a mall or a basketball game.

This is testing a population that is high-risk, are heavy users of Emergency Responer systems ( ambulance, EMT, Fire Dept). Contaminating the emergency responders and infecting them, or even sending them into self-quarantine is indeed the Nightmare Scenario that is evolving.
