Yesterday an Orlando reporter interviewed a dozen early spring break college students playing shoulder to shoulder at the beach-
every single one said the same thing- It's an overblown hoax, no worse than a cold, yada yada.

I expect to hear that from college kids though. Who wants to spend spring break hiding indoors?

Good afternoon everyone.

I am so behind, approx 1.5 threads and three days worth of press conferences, but wanted to come here to say I just finished Monday’s WHO Presser and, as usual, wow just wow. Again, I just can not say enough how absolutely brilliant Doc T and Dr. Mike are, imo.

While we get the transcripts of the Director General’s opening remarks posted on the WHO website, there is soooo much covered in the Q and A portions of these PCs which is not transcribed, unfortunately. While I’d like to comment on some specifics of Monday’s PC, I will refrain, considering I’m very behind and this is such a rapidly evolving situation, but wow, Dr. Mike and Dr. Tedros tell it how it is. Their intellect and experience is of the highest degree, and I just can’t say enough how much respect I have for them. There were a couple a statements they made in the last quarter of the conference where I was literally smiling with admiration and at one point I literally laughed out loud like “Yes, tell it like it is!”

—-

At one point Dr. Mike actually addressed what I had “wondered” about in my most recent “random musing” last night when I was pondering the aspect of the transparency, or lack thereof, of certain nations. Dr. Mike basically said that there IS transparency, so I foolishly retract any insinuations I may have made, at least for now, specifically re: Japan.

As always, I look forward to catching up here.

Thank you so much for posting the openings for the WHO pressers. It's so important for folks that work and don't have an hour of their day to watch WHO, listen to Dr. C, listen to Dr. S etc. It really is important for summaries, and thanks to all that have the time to do!

That said, I was doing the WHO pressers entire transcripts, but RL got into the way so had to back off. What I will try to restart is doing a transcript for JUST THE Q&A sessions if folks here think that would be useful. I can only commit to one week as after than, another RL issue may prevent me. And you or I can do opening transcript once published a day or two later.. we share that? And perhaps some days someone else here can volunteer to take over transcribing the WHO Q&A's or other stuff? dunno.

I'm still listening to the US Senate Committee grilling of folks today on the virus... :banghead: :banghead: they are opening their mouths and showing their ignorance (said in a non-political way, just that it reinforces following WHO and scientists so much here so far on this thread for virus information)

MOO MOO MOO

This senate hearing is frustrating. I feel like they are getting some incorrect information.
I'd like to think HEALTH of our nation would be serious enough to ensure information is correct. This isn't just a political platform, but HEALTH. Sigh.

Yeppers....

I would consider thinking that Dr. C, (who the poster you quoted was just posting Dr. C's words, not the posters) and many many of us here, AGREE with that. We are not blaming the personnel, just the institution which is underfunded, and chit happens when regulatory and short staff and lack of resources happen. As with in the future, when folks die, we shall not blame the health care workers as they are stretched, underfunded and overstaffed without the right equipment to best do their jobs. Does that make sense?

Sometimes it's hard to understand individuals' postings unless you know their backgrounds on how they post over time ... and what is posted is subtle so we don't get into political iykwim???

Anywhoooo, I was the OP to bring it up... so that's my stance as to what I meant. I quoted w/o opinion.... I need to do more "winks" so folks will know I'm sitting on hands wanting to say more. Which I often do, believe it or not ;)

....back to catching up!

I posted the quote from Dr. C to clarify that he does not pity the U.S.

rather pity was used wrt to the delay in testing.

Dixie's summary of the video had key words,
but one would not wish to attribute a sentiment to Dr. C which is clearly not the intent, as represented in the spoken words.

There is no intent on my part to politicalize anything.

ETA
reconsidering my participation on this thread, yet again.

They were told it lasts a few hours up to a day on surfaces! Really?! Why have we continually heard it likely lasts much longer than that?
