I just saw a Youtuber who was showing where the Grand Princess Cruise Ship was located out near California in the ocean. I tried to find it myself but as I click on each ship/boat, I cannot find it, but he did. :)

If anyone is good with these maritine maps and can find the ship and somehow point me to it, I would appreciate it. I think it would be interesting to watch what it does in the next couple days. The youtuber said it was moving so maybe its just doing circles out there.

From what I saw, it was located due West and slightly Northwest a little from the Baja California Coast.

Has anyone seen WHAT they are treating positive people with? I've read those hospitalized are on antibiotics, fluids and some on respirators. If they release the protocol for which antibiotic, others could get a jump on it and prescribe THAT particular antibiotic for those that aren't able to be tested.

I heard antivirals and steroids.

Quarantine motel: Officials in the Seattle area are buying a suburban 84-room EconoLodge for $4 million to house patients diagnosed with the coronavirus. Seattle-area officials buy $4 million `quarantine' motel

So an old moldy roach hotel in Seattle for your quarantine with old motel beds and TV's should be enough reason to wash your hands all the time and keep away from groups of people !

Doctor issues stark warning to Congress: "Don’t just get up there and say this is a flu"

Dr. Peter Hotez, professor and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, warned members of Congress Thursday against minimizing the risks of novel coronavirus in the United States, calling it “the angel of death for older individuals.”

During the House Committee on House Science, Space and Technology, Oklahoma Rep. Frank Lucas asked what advice he could take home to the public to not prevent panic and instill reasonable steps to avoid spread.

“In an attempt to calm public fears, you’re hearing things like it’s a mild illness, this is like flu. It’s not really the case because this is an unusual virus. For many young people, especially, it is a mild illness, but we’re seeing some devastating things,” Hotez responded.

Hotez said he’s particularly concerned about first responders, health care workers and nursing homes, saying that when the virus entered the Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington, it “rolled through it like a train” and led to several deaths.

“This is like the angel of death for older individuals. We need to go back and support all of our nursing home — I don’t know what we’re doing wrong,” Hotez said. “Clearly that nursing home was not prepared for this, and I’m going to guess nursing homes across Oklahoma are not prepared, as well."

“Don’t just get up there and say this is a flu, this is a mild illness," he added. "One, it’s not true and people in Oklahoma are pretty smart and will figure that out pretty quickly. Second, explain what the risks are … and here are the steps that we’re doing to mitigate that.”

So is this guy a liar? Or is the media misquoting him for those who believe this epidemic is being hyped?

Australia- A Sydney public school will be closed on Friday after a Year 11 student tested positive for the coronavirus.

Epping Boys High School will be closed for one day to allow the school community and health officials to “work through a contact and containment strategy”, a statement from NSW Health said on Thursday.

Both students and staff at the school have been advised to stay at home and self-isolate over the weekend. The closure will affect approximately 1100 students.

“Staff and students will be contacted and advised if they can resume school as normal on Monday, 9 March 2020 or if a further quarantine period will be required,” the school said on Facebook.

Who would’ve thought the Ryde area would be Sydney’s first hotspot. My daughter goes to Tafe near there.

Two major sponsors of Crufts, believed to be the world’s biggest dog show, have told staff not to attend the event – which began today.

Pet food firms Royal Canin UK and James Wellbeloved asked employees to avoid the four-day event “unless it is business critical”, according to the BBC.

Crufts, which takes place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, has 20,000 competitors and their pets coming from all over the world.

Last year, 27,000 dogs attended the event, with 21,000 competing, including 3,611 from overseas, 413 of which were from Italy.

Crufts’ organisers The Kennel Club said the event in Birmingham would still go ahead, with “enhanced measures” to protect visitors. Precautions would include hand sanitiser stations at entrances, toilets and catering areas, as well as additional signage. In a statement on its website, the club said Defra had not advised them to cancel the event.

I’m still so mad at the ignorant licking shrines you know what. I can’t get over it. I know that’s not all of Iran but the leaders in that country are of this ilk, IMO.

I'm hoping that the privilege of licking shrines is only available to men in Iran and women are spared from having to contaminate themselves with COVID-19 and all sorts of other awful stuff from other people's saliva

EWWWWWWWWWWW

Well more than HALF of all identified cases in Italy are hospitalized or have died. Either 1) they have a more virulent outbreak or 2) more likely, they have only identified the sickest cases and the spread of disease is MUCH MUCH higher. #coronavirus #covid19 #TestVirusNow (((Howard Forman))) on Twitter

so I have good news and bad news and more good news

first my oncologist tells me I am no longer immune-suppressed so I'm not in the vulnerable population! yay!
second there is no hand sanitizer anywhere in this city (we should've grabbed it last time we were shopping)
third I already have three bottles of hand sanitizer in this house so we'll be alright

Do you have a droid phone? If so, do you know (or others here ) to click on a not well known place on your phone to get your travels 24/7 ? Is there a need for a PSA for folks on how to get to that on folks phones that haven't know that (spoke about before on threads that I had no idea until a case months ago on WS I found such)
I don't have a smartphone so I don't understand your reference, but I hope it's useful to others as you say.

You can only do so much to advise others around us. I have had similar experiences with close friends and family.

One thing I am really concerned about is this sort of statement I see one of your relatives made above
"the virus is only affecting "old people with underlying issues,"

I have seen this mentioned by my own friends and it really should state:

"the virus is only mainly KILLING old people with underlying issues,"

Its not that it is not "affecting" others from all age groups. I wish I would have saved a small article from one of the updates. The Virus was found in about 5 people and the ages of those people was all over the place. A 20 year old, a 30-40 year old, etc.

I think a lot of people are confusing who is actually "affected and gets sick" as compared to the proper statement that its mainly KILLING older folks.
Its a big difference. And yea, it may be true that the younger folks who get it may have milder symptoms or be able to kick it out sooner, but its not like younger folks arent being affected and catching the virus.

We have to be really careful what the young folks are believing about who gets it and becomes sick.

Yes I mean Dr. Li was 34 when he got the virus. He died. (Although I wouldn’t put it past the Chinese government to have killed him). But just being hospitalized or seriously sick but not dying is also an issue. That can impact a lot of people and the health care system.

Try this page:

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:370965/vessel:GRAND PRINCESS

and here's the map that I pulled from the above link: MarineTraffic: Global Ship Tracking Intelligence | AIS Marine Traffic
(on my computer the Grand Princess is the blue ship)

Excellent. You found it. Thanks so much.

Im going to try to follow this ship in next few days to see where they end up. I hope they stay far enough out to sea where the wind doesnt take germs to the California coast. So far, they seem to be plenty far enough off the coast. But who really knows how far is enough.

Its very interesting to me, so thank you so much for finding it.
