OT Rant

I rarely post. I can’t even begin to count how many OT posts Ive read just on the Covid-19 threads. I don’t mind them at all. It’s a way for people to vent or bring levity to a serious situation. I try to put an OT at the beginning of my post if I think I’m going way off course. I saw the tornado mentioned before so I didn’t think I was that far off course of what you all were discussing.

I don’t think it’s fair to have one side voiced and not the other in regards to political comments and I DO NOT want to alert on them even though I know that’s what I’m supposed to do, I understand the frustration. I have a little more trouble sitting on my hands. I can only sit so much and they go numb, but that’s my problem. LOL

Good day to all of you and stay safe!

Thank you for this post.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist AT ALL, so why am I having thoughts that not testing people is the best way to keep the numbers down in the U.S.? No information is misinformation. Who benefits if ”information” looks good? Who will be upset if “information” looks bad? Rhetorical question but you get my drift.
Very much along the same thinking I have had. The numbers that were supposed to go to zero!

Trump calls WA Governor Inslee a “snake” and more fun stuff to read:

President Trump on Friday slammed Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) as the state grapples with an outbreak of the coronavirus, calling him a "snake" for criticizing the administration's response to the disease.

Trump calls Inslee a 'snake' amid coronavirus outbreak in Washington state

Trump says he wants passengers to stay on cruise: "I don't need the numbers to double"

To recap what just happened at this Trump CDC press conference on coronavirus:

  • The president wore his re-election campaign hat and interrupted the event to ask a Fox News reporter if his town hall on the network had good ratings.
  • He attacked CNN.
  • He called the governor of Washington state, the epicenter of a major outbreak, a “snake” and “not a good governor”, and said he disagreed with his own vice president saying nice things about the governor while visiting the state.
  • Trump said he has not considered canceling his rallies and is not worried about risks.
  • He made false and exaggerated claims about the availability of coronavirus tests, ignoring the reality that his vice president has acknowledged, which is that there is a shortage among US healthcare providers right now.
  • He said he would prefer if people on the Grand Princess cruise remained on the ship so that US numbers would not go up.
  • He gloated about his “natural ability” to understand the epidemic.

I am 'liking' your post but not really. Having an embarrassment for a president is not a fun experience.

You'd be SHOCKED!

I was shocked to find out that a former colleague who is now dean of a major university in Florida is going on a cruise next week with his wife during spring break at their university. Especially since he is dean of the university's college of health and human services.

Today was my second visit to the PT gym, and I made a point of looking around for sanitizing wipes to clean machines prior to and/or after use. There are huge buckets of them in strategic places around the facility. I wiped the "stepper" before and after I did my warmup and wiped my hands off, too. Haven't seen anyone there (staff or patients) wearing masks or gloves. I'm not taking anything into the facility besides my jacket, but if I ever need to use a locker, I will wipe off the combination pad.
I was at school today (I am a teacher) and I realized it is absolutely exhausting trying to keep you hands cleaned in such an environment. Due to past school shootings all doors are closed and locked, so you have to touch handles and keys all day long, and then you pass out work, and help students, and the you gather the papers, and grab your pen, then grade the assignments, then touch your computer mouse, use your keyboard to input your grades... It is scary. I cut all my nails off last weekend and took off the rings and my hands feel raw from washing and saniti
ugh
Health officials announced two new coronavirus cases in Los Angeles County Friday, including a second Los Angeles International Airport screener.
Another LAX screener tests positive for coronavirus as L.A. County cases rise to 13

zer, but a classroom with 30 students is indeed a challenge.
Why is anti bacterial stuff sold out? It’s a virus.
Good point!

When people are really sick, it seems they cannot answer questions about where they went, what they did.

Thank you for a post that actually makes me happy DH and I cancelled our cruise to Iceland. I confess, a month ago I thought I was overreacting.

NJ college suspends athletic teams' travel amid coronavirus outbreak

Kean University in Union, N.J., has suspended travel for its athletes amid the coronavirus outbreak out of an “abundance of caution," a spokesperson said Wednesday.

The school has directed five of its 14 intercollegiate varsity programs not to travel, including its softball and baseball teams, which were slated to participate in spring break tournaments in Florida this week, spokeswoman Margaret McCorry said in a statement obtained by NJ.com.

"This [decision] is consistent with the university’s recommendation for the entire campus community to postpone spring break travel to limit possible exposure to COVID-19, avoid travel disruptions and reduce the risk of needing to self quarantine upon their return,'' McCorry said in the statement.

I don't want to upset myself , but I'm going to tell you guys anyway , I have a perfect angel Micki Mouse my little chi dog with a perfect mickey mouse on her back the Black and white View attachment 236840 Anyhow she Coughed for 2 days and I gave her honey and expectorant and echnesia and she seemed fine but she passed yesterday morning as I was holding her drinking my coffee , she just went limp and I lost it ( still am losing it ) I'm sure my neighbors heard me wailing , now granted she was 18 years old and about 3 lbs but Now I cant help but wonder if she caught something, and I don't even want to go there I'm also grieving my best(and only)girlfriend of 40 years so this is a extra horror for me , I feel like I should have taken her to the vet the first cough , it didn't seem like anything more than a hairball cough :( naturally I want to drink bleach I feel so rotten, like I'm the worst dog mom ever )
@sloane7777 I don't believe that anything you gave Micki could have harmed her. And I'm not sure that she may have been able to be treated if the vet had been able to determine the cause. You loved and cherished her for 18 years. What a wonderful life she had. I wish that for all living things. I hope your many wonderful memories bring you comfort and peace. She exited this world with the person she loved and that loved her. She wasn't in a strange place. She was in her home. I know you're in pain right now and miss her so much. Hugs to you.

No imminent shortages to essential drugs, says WHO

Speaking at the World Health Organization daily briefing, Dr Tedros said that the WHO is working with industry associations, regulators and other partners to monitor any risks to worldwide supplies of essential drugs.

However the WHO do not foresee any specific drugs shortages just yet.

Coronavirus latest news: Second UK death linked to disease as 163 test positive

Today I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for my spouse and tried to get a 90 day supply but the insurer wouldn't okay it. Also the pharmacy is located within a university hospital (our plan requires us to use this pharmacy), and there were posters on the entry door to the building, but they were posters about opioid use and addiction, nothing about coronavirus.

Just a friendly reminder that we aren’t allowed to get political it’s against Websleuths terms of service. I appreciate it is very difficult. This thread is too important for information about this horrendous crisis to be shut down.
