The "government" should mandate the use of Ivermectin, lol. Reverse psychology.
Imo
Maybe do a “two for one” day at the local Tractor Supply store.

Tens of Thousands of Children Affected by Pandemic Related Deaths of Parents

This article will make you feel really sad-- just a terrible tragedy for all of those children

Yes, for every adult that has died (millions) there are more children who are suddenly and horribly left without a mum/dad/grandparent. Hundreds of kids across the world will have become orphans during this pandemic :(

Mass. Hospitals Set to Fire Hundreds of Workers Who Don't Get Vaccinated
More/ numbers at link
Massachusetts hospitals are preparing to fire hundreds of employees who fail to comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements designed to protect patient safety.

Officials at hospitals across the state told The Boston Globe they don't expect the number of employees who are fired because of vaccine mandates to result in cuts to patient services, but they are stepping up recruitment and retention efforts just in case.

Quebec’s professional health-care orders should make COVID-19 vaccination a condition for their members to remain in good standing, Health Minister Christian Dubé said Friday.

Dubé’s comments were the latest attempt by government to put pressure on health-care workers ahead of its Oct. 15 deadline, after which unvaccinated employees in the health sector face suspension without pay.

He said groups representing health professionals such as nurses and respiratory therapists should consider following the lead of the province’s doctors order, the Collège des médecins, which has announced it would suspend the right to practise medicine of any member who refuses to be vaccinated.

I am trying to understand why federal employees, and many other employees, must get a Covid-19 vaccine to have a job.

But people collecting entitlement benefits, like SNAP, EBT, Medicare, Medicaid, are NOT required to be vaccinated to collect benefits.

Just saying...that seems messed up.

Apples and oranges. The former example is about workplace safety.

Probably similar logic to why it’s terrible to expect people to show a valid ID of some sort to vote.

It defies logic really. So I got nothing.

Should federal employees who work remotely be exempt then? It’s hard to argue they are a workplace safety issue if they don’t actually go to a workplace.

Edited to add: IMO, the mandate for federal employees to get vaccinated isn’t really just about workplace safety. It’s about getting as many people vaccinated as possible so we can someday see the other side of this pandemic. I don’t have a problem with that, really, but I do think it’s wrong to sell it as something that it’s not. IMO, it’s nothing more than a back door way to force people to get vaccinated bc the federal government lacks the authority to just come right out and mandate it.

So, along those lines, what would be the issue with requiring vaccines for those who want federally funded benefits? It would get more people vaccinated.

I see this as Covid related as we used to have pages of discussions about hand sanitizers and washing our grocery bags and sterilizing our mail and sanitizing grocery cart handles and should we wear gloves etc...Remember those days....?

Hand sanitizer brand has ‘unacceptable levels’ of cancer-causing chemicals, FDA warns

If you own a bottle of Artnaturals scent-free hand sanitizer, federal health officials want you to stop using it immediately and toss it in a hazardous waste container, not in the trash or down the drain or toilet.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration tests have found “unacceptable levels” of some cancer-causing chemicals, including benzene, acetaldehyde and acetal contaminants in some bottles, according to a warning issued Oct. 4.

The Artnaturals product has been added to a list of 260 other hand sanitizer brands contaminated with harmful chemicals that the FDA urges people not use. The sanitizers can be bought in several stores, including Walmart, Publix and Amazon.

In April, the FDA recalled eight lots of hand sanitizers made by Scentsational Soaps & Candles that were sold at certain Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ulta Beauty stores, the Miami Herald reported. The products contained methanol, benzene and acetaldehyde.

So, people who don't get benefits don't have jobs? No. Most people who collect benefits do work. It is called "the working poor". Usually jobs at gas stations, cashiers, other low paid wages. And many of these employers are not requiring vaccines to maintain employment.

New South Wales is now at 90.1% First dose and 72.8% Double dose, in the 16+ group.

95% of over 70s have had their first dose and 86.5% have had both doses.

Good site here which updates frequently.

Covid: The UK is Europe's virus hotspot - does it matter?

This is quite an interesting article, shows how we're doing in terms of "learning to live with it and see what happens"!

Basically says that we are the hotspot of Europe (again) largely due to our under 16s not having the jabs before school started up again last month. Also our measures are less stringent than a lot of European countries. But - death rate is not hugely higher, which suggests our natural immunity is building and there's hope we may avoid a winter wave.

No, they shouldn't be exempt because people are not going to be allowed to work remotely forever. This is also about getting the work force back to the workplace.
