Hi! You are so kind to think of me and ask. I am feeling a bit better, but I’m still dealing with ear pressure, headache, fatigue and a cough. My throat pain is almost gone however. It feels more like a bad cold today than like a debilitating flu. I feel like I’m on the upswing, but I’m not ready to get out of bed and run a marathon. Nights seem to be more uncomfortable so I took NyQuil again last night to sleep and got a long uninterrupted slumber. Thank you for asking. How is everyone else doing today?
I'm so glad. It sounds like maybe you are turning the corner to feeling better.

Thank you, I feel I am on the mend but not counting my chickens as I thought the same about my husband last week! He has spoken to his doc today and has a steroid prescription to collect later to help with his asthma - all has to be carefully coordinated with his surgery.
Oh wow! I didn't realize your DH is going to be having surgery! The steroids should help with his lungs. I'm glad you are feeling like you're on the mend.

I made a Costco run today. It was SOOOO crowded! I'm back to double masking. I expect an indoor mask mandate will be reinstated within the next week or two in my county (Los Angeles). Time will tell.

DH announced over the weekend that we should get our second boosters next week after I've had my annual mammogram this Thursday. We were due for our second shots in mid-May but wanted to wait a bit longer, maybe even until fall. With the possibility of a new booster this fall, we will go ahead and get our second boosters next week. I would have had to have my second booster by June 1 because it's recommended that women don't have a mammogram for six weeks following Covid injections.

Do you know if having Covid weeks before a mammogram will interfere? I have a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound on my breasts scheduled July 20, but I’m currently Covid positive.
Not that I know of. Google gives lots of hits on the Covid vaccine and mammograms, and it appears one no longer needs to wait for 6 weeks to have a mammogram after being vaccinated. I didn't find anything about how long to wait after having Covid. I suppose it's OK to have a mammogram after testing negative. MOO

My partner had COVID last month. We made it through the pandemic up until then... but it started going around at his work. He works mostly outdoors, but then there's riding around in the trucks. First him, missed me (as soon as he felt sick, he went to the spare room) and then his closest co-worker.

He still has a lingering cough/tightness in his chest. Generally just feeling tired. His coworker is still feeling awful, too. The cough was really horrible up until about last week - it's only just settled down but is still bothersome at night. He's been drinking tea nonstop lol.

Thankful that it missed me this time. As soon as he felt off, he went to the spare room, used the other bathroom and I just left everything at the door for him. I was convinced it would get me, especially because the smallest colds turn into bronchitis and pneumonia for me and my immune system is weak. For him, a cold is usually nothing, but the chest symptoms were pretty brutal.

They finally announced booster info since it's been over six months for most of us now, so looks like in September we can get boosted. Partner and I have had our three shots so we're eager for more!

Lots of people we know are down with it. My brother's office is shut down completely at the moment, with everyone working remotely. My office has opted to remain completely remote (with a choice to book an office day here and there if you want a change of pace) which has really helped.

Hope everyone is doing okay. I concur with what someone else said that it feels neverending. With hospitalizations increasing here, I too feel like we'll be on the path back to mask mandates by the fall - I'm a-okay with that.

Thank you for looking that up for me! I suppose I should call the hospital as well to see what they recommend.

I’m glad you and your hubby made it through and that you are both well. I’m anxious for the new booster as well, but I need to ask my doctor when I can get it now that I’ve caught it. I’ll be masking up, probably double masking from here on out.

Haha, oh no so sorry! Surgery is what we call the doctor's office! Due to him having covid he had to co ordinate picking up his script with the reception staff

Call the breast center to see how many days you're covid-free and not contagious.

LOL Love it! Only those of us who watch your shows like “Doc Martin“ know that you call your doctor’s office a “surgery.” British English can be a foreign language to us! And I imagine you scratch your heads when we talk about “sweaters” instead of your “jumpers” and a bag of potato “chips” when you say “chips” for French Fries. ;)

I saw my PCP last week - she recommended I not wait for the tweaked vaccine to come out in the fall and said I should get my Moderna shot as soon as possible- so I am considering doing so!!!

Sorry, don't know about having Covid in the weeks before a mammogram. The vaccine can cause swollen lymph nodes in some people, so women are advised to wait six weeks before having a mammogram after they've had a vaccination/booster. I'd call the imaging facility and ask, just to be sure.

We will get our second boosters next Monday or Tuesday.

@BetteDavisEyes , Mr Pirate got his a while back. I am holding out for a new fall vaccine. If you don’t mind sharing, what made you decide to get it now? Did your doctor say if you can get one now and one later in a fall/winter? I am on the fence here.

My guess is because BA.5 is spreading right now so it's dangerous to not be freshly boosted.

We shouldn’t wait until fall for the new boosters; if we are due, we should get a booster now.

The former CDC director and current head of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation spoke on this subject this morning on GMA. He said to get the booster as soon as you're eligible and not for the newer booster.
